  1. Mullins is a 3+ WAR gold glove candidate CF with potential to be a 4-5 WAR guy with some luck (6 WAR in the 30/30 season) who is just entering arbitration and just turned 28. I highly doubt they are trading him and if they do I'd be shocked if it's just for a #2/3 starter like Lopez. It's one thing to trade Mancini whose contract is up in a few months or cashing in on Lopez having his first good year but it's another thing to trade someone like Mullins. Not only would it be difficult to replace what he brings to the team but it would also look terrible to say you're building a team from within and going to use free agency and trades to compliment the team and then trade one of your star players.
  2. For me they are bottom of the order hitters. They are the type of guys I feel like I've seen on Tampa, Milwaukee, Cleveland, etc. for the last few years and those teams always seem to win but never have enough to win it all. I have a hard time believing teams are going to trade impact prospects or proven major leaguers for that. Hopefully other teams view them like you do.
  3. Why do you think Wells is a late inning guy but you want Tate traded? Just based on upside? Wells 2021 as a reliever - 4.11 ERA, 3.60 xERA, 3.63 FIP, 1.42 HR/9, .226 BABIP, 10.26 K/9 Tate 2022 - 3.05 ERA, 3.15 xERA, 3.48 FIP, 0.73 HR/9, .251 BABIP, 7.33 K/9 Tate career - 3.97 ERA, 4.03 FIP, 0.85 HR/9, .255 BABIP, 7.19 K/9 Other than strikeouts I don't see anything that Wells is clearly better than Tate in.
  4. It's pretty odd to me how people pick and choose what they want to believe from Elias. When he says something one agrees with he's telling the truth but when he says something one disagrees with it's just GM speak and isn't to be taken seriously.
  5. I think the problem is that last years team is built a lot more like a Tampa Bay team in that there's a big focus on run prevention. They are now at a point where the prospects are ready and now they have three glove first players in the lineup at SS, 3B, and LF. Nobody else is paying for glove first players even though their WAR's are nice. They're more the type of guys that are a 2nd or 3rd person in a trade. Nobody is giving up a meaningful prospect or current major league contributor for Mateo, Urias, or Hays. If the O's needed a SS, 3B, or LF would you be ok with them trading a top 10 prospect for them?
  6. He was probably told that when the team was ready to compete they'd spend. As we all know there are things going on behind the scenes with ownership that weren't going on when he was hired. My best guess is that he expected to be able to spend close to what Duquette was spending and now that he has finally been given his budget it's a lot lower.
  7. Yeah, probably Manaea. Ben McDonald was hyping him the other day. I’d guess he was asked to since most fans like him.
  8. You said earlier today “You know what a GM says publicly doesn’t really mean anything, right?”. Wouldn’t that apply here too?
  9. Who hacked Sig’s computer and told it that if a player was in the Phillies organization and had an ERA over 5.00 last year they’re a must sign?
  10. He’s 28, has a career OBP of .300, and has been worth 2+ WAR once in his career. He basically is what he is offensively and he’s getting worse defensively. I would be surprised if he had any value to most teams.
  11. Phillies have a nice team and just got better. 11 years is a long time but it’ll be worth it if they’re contenders for most of those years. That’s just the cost of signing big time free agents nowadays. All the more reason why the O’s should be overpaying pitchers for 2/3 year deals and extending their own.
  12. 30 people had an OPS higher than .812 last year so that would be something if Stowers turns into a career .812 OPS guy.
  13. What's odd is in 2021 his OAA at 1B was 4 and that was tied for 4th best among 1B.
  14. He said it in an interview with Jon Morosi. He's also mentioned the arbitration numbers each time he's mentioned the payroll increasing. Santander is up for another round of arbitration. I thought there was another time he mentioned it on High Heat but I can't find it.
  15. I can't imagine they'd move Silseth for Mateo so you'd probably be looking at another quantity over quality trade with them.
  16. It is crazy to me that the best pitcher in the world is only getting a 2 year contract + an option and from all indications the team with a bottom 5 payroll, elite farm system, and multiple elite prospects on the major league roster next year wouldn't be interested.
  17. I don't think Santander is anything special so I'd be fine with them trading him. Even last year his OBP was only .318 during his career year. Is it ever really going to get better than last year? I highly doubt it and he seems like a guy who is who he is at this point. If he was batting 6th or so in the lineup he'd be great but the O's are asking too much out of him as the 3 hole hitter IMO. That being said Elias has stated multiple times they aren't moving him.
  18. Yeah, he would be a great addition. Any time you can add a proven .800+ OPS guy to the lineup is, IMO, a good idea. He did struggle in San Diego so maybe that lowers his price a little bit.
  19. So who starts Opening Day as of right now? You're telling me that based on the current roster Kremer isn't in the mix for that? Obviously if they sign someone that is better than what they have they'll be the #1 but as of right now they haven't.
  20. The fact that Kremer is in the mix for Opening Day starter is all the proof I need that they have to add at least 2 more legitimate starting pitchers. For all the talk on Gibson being a back of rotation guy he had a better xFIP last year than Kremer did and they each had a 4.46 xERA.
  21. That’s nice to read. I’ll be rooting for him.
