  1. If you can get an elite Andrew Miller type like the O's did years ago? Then yes. But relievers these days are so up and down year to year that it would have to be someone like him for me to pull the trigger.
  2. Reverse jinx lock. BRB driving to Vegas and putting $5000 a game on the O's. Be back in 10 hours. Actually I am going Thursday to Sunday.
  3. Obviously I meant Kimbrel here. In fairness I was about 10 adult beverages in last night when I made this post. Let that be a lesson here boyos. Don't drink and post. My point still stands though. Bad game management on Hyde's part.
  4. IMO Hyde lost the game today. Not Burnes. Burnes has very obviously been 'off' the past 2 games. Something has been wrong. IMO you change it up and pitch someone else in the 9th. He probably could have thrown a dart at the available pitchers for the 9th inning and the O's would have won 9 x out of 10. Just a bad feel for for the inning, the game, the situation, and the pitcher in this case on Hyde's part.
  5. You are a good guy. I remember watching you with my dad...I think on ESPN doing interviews, and I remember always thinking even back then what a gentleman you were.
  6. Yeah as I remember it was more about the length than anything. "That's what she said".
  7. No I honestly don't get the connection. What am I missing?
  8. For what ever reason CoC hated Cruz back then and he apparently still does. I remember being mystified by it. I never understood it then, and I still don't.
  9. I think we were all spoiled by Britton and Miller haha.
  10. I am not really sure why you are making this comparison between Cruz and Mounty? Ryan didn't play for the O's until 2020 and plays a different position. I am lost here. Cruz was gone after 2014. It is like me comparing Ryan Mountcastle with Miguel Tejada. It makes no sense. With Cruz.....If you can sign difference makers for reasonable contracts....you do it. Cruz was a difference maker. As he proved the rest of his career after he left the O's.
  11. I mean they are very similar. Both very good players. But Cruz back then to me...always had that 'it' factor. He was just a clutch player. When the O's could have resigned him I said he is a MUST sign. Especially for what turned out to be a bargain basement price for what he did the next 5 years. One of the single worst moves the O's have made since 2000 in not trying to resign him.
  12. It kind of is that way throughout the entire organization. I see a lot of teams with youngsters on the farm and on the parent club that can throw upwards of 96 to 100. We really don't have much of that. For sure the one weakness we have on an organizational basis.
  13. What I meant was I think Cano is great in 7th and 8th inning stints. 9th inning? I don't see him as that. Fuji I don't trust either but he had more swing and miss potential, which is key for a closer. Obviously though he is just too wild.
  14. Yeah if we need to make a trade then I am all for that. I was strictly talking in house options. Miller was perhaps the best relief pitcher I have ever seen in his time with the O's. Almost completely untouchable. I cringed when the O's never made an attempt to resign him. I said the same about Nelson Cruz and got crucified for that.
  15. No no. I am totally fine with the trade. I just meant that he would have been a good guy to have for this kind of situation. But everything being equal I would rather have Burnes and try to figure something else out. I really think Saurez has the stuff to work for this.
  16. Yeah I saw that. Fuji is just too wild. Shame because he has the arm. I do think Suarez in short stints could be an option.
  17. I said this in the other thread but the O's are probably going to need to think outside the box here and have someone else pitch the 9th in a save situation every 1 out of 3 times to give Kimbrel a break. He is never going to last a full year pitching this much. DL Hall would have been a great guy for that but obviously that is a no go. Cano I really don't trust in a 9th inning situation. This was a reason I was surprised they got rid of Fuji after the season. At least he threw near 100. It seemed a shame that they gave up on him. What about a Suarez? I have a feeling he could do very well in that role.

  19. Agree. That would be ideal. Especially the leg kick. I looked for video from last night and couldn't find anything.
  20. Really pleasantly surprised that he seemingly has healed up so quickly after the platelet injection. I had the same injury plus a chip the size of a quarter in my elbow at the tear spot and didn't get surgery either. This was around 2 years ago. I was bowling and my elbow just completely blew out during one of my shots. Turned black and blue and the entire elbow swelled up. Went to the specialist and got the MRI and xrays and it was a mess. Of course they recommended surgery but seeing as how I was bowling in multiple tournies and leagues at the time, and lifting weights, I decided against it as surgery would have laid me up for many months. So I rested it, kept lightly working out, and within 45 days or so the swelling and discoloration went away and I started bowling again and have bowled 10-15 games a week since with little issue. I just feel twinges now and then. Working out 4 days a week as well. So it is possible to come back from this without surgery. Of course I am not trying to throw a baseball 90 mph every 5 days either. That is really the only time it hurts, when I throw overhand. Of course he doesn't have a bone chip in his elbow either. Just the small tear. If he can get through the first few games without a problem I think he will last the year. We shall see.
  21. I see he went 0 for 4 last night with 1 strikeout and one fly ball that was hit pretty well with Norfolk. Probably going to take him a few games to get going again. I think he is something like 2 for his last 38 with 19 strikeouts during that time. I can't imagine he has ever been in a slump quite like this before.
  22. Didn't see today's game in it's entirety but I will say this. I feel 100% more confident with Mateo playing second and turning a DP rather than JH right now. JH will be fine there. In time. But even forgetting his hitting, D wise he just isn't there yet. And yes I know the metrics say he is fine. But to me, using the eye test, he looked very shaky fielding and throwing,
