  1. HUH??? I'm legit confused by this statement. Do you know where the Yankees rank in stolen bases?
  2. That's just not true. Adley and Westburg are fantastic hitters whose whole approach is back through the middle. They do not swing for the fences and make good contact regularly. Ryan O'Hearn is a very good hitter as well. I think you may be confusing Orioles' teams from a decade ago with this season's team.
  3. Even if he really wants to (which I imagine that he does) Boras has to be willing to play ball, which historically he has not been when it comes to extensions.
  4. Neither Urias/Maton/AAAA guy will make much of a difference as the 25/26 man on the roster IMO. We are fine and our amazing record shows as much.
  5. He's not as good of a hitter as Westburg is now. But I'm sure that he will make the necessary adjustment. This is his first go round in the show. As he's learning, this level is all about adjustments and counter adjustments.
  6. Probably because the org has determined that Holliday nor Mayo are ready.
  7. I count anything where guys make good swings just like the last two hitters. Roy, I love your passion though! You literally live and die with every pitch. I admire how you can sustain that level of energy through 162 (and beyond).
  8. They hit a few balls hard in inning 2. They went foul. It happens. It's baseball.
  9. I seriously doubt the no hitter part. We have too many good hitters. Eventually someone will figure something out. Just gotta keep it close until they do.
  10. Agreed. He has been looking very good for most of this season (as have all of our starters). Just when I think things can't be this good, they just keep getting better!
  11. As much as I would love to have Mason Miller for this season and beyond (if he were to stay healthy), I would be okay with Ryan Helsley as a rental. He does not have the electric stuff, nor the otherworldly K rate of Miller and he will be an FA after the season. But he will not cost as much. Though I'm not sure where Kjerstad and Mayo fit into this team (this season or next). There seems to only be room for one, as Holliday will be the 2B (by the latest) to start next year and Westburg is too good of a ballplayer to not be a starter.
  12. Helsley is the only guy of those three that I would want.
  13. Gunnar going to the level of MVP caliber player and Jordan Westburg developing into a star type player are the best developments of this season thus far. After that, it would be Cole Irvin's performance. I expected us to have a top 5ish rotation, but I did not think that he would be amongst our best performers.
  14. You are right. But I left that unstated because I figured most people inherently understand that we all employed to earn money. No matter how much, most people want to make the most that they are able to.
  15. Hardy had excellent hands and had all of the requisite skills in terms of foot quickness and the "athletic" movements that you need to be a very good defender at SS. However, he was a very slow runner on the Orioles (I can't speak to what he was on the Brewers because I don't recall watching him much when he was there). On the base paths or if they were to race, I would bet Westburg would win by a good/safe margin. And yes Westburg so far, has shown himself to be a much better hitter because he can use all fields. I love his approach as he competes every AB and rarely gives away ABs. He is what has classically been referred to as "a tough out". JJ Hardy was a straight pull hitter/power hitter and rarely hit the ball to the right side of second base. Most of his hits and especially mostly all of his power was to left field. He really struggled with pitches that were away from him (outside corner/outer part of the plate).
  16. I believe that Rubenstein is a very smart guy, has great people around him, is a very good business good businessman having amassed billions, is from the area (which brings about it's own understanding) AND is/has been a fan of the team all his life. With the combination of all those things, I believe that it is likely that he wants the Orioles to succeed very much and win a World Series (he even stated as much in one of his first public statements as owner). I also believe that he is interested in increasing his viability within this market. He has eyes and can see all the #2 and #35 shirts in the stands. You can't allow all/most of your superstar guys/franchise players/faces of the franchise to walk and grow your fanbase. Extensions PLUS good drafting and developing PLUS a good international program is what will keep us from being limited to a 6/7 year window. But having said all that, you can't get these years back when you are the best/one of the best teams either (like we are this year). IMO we cannot afford to punt opportunities that are this good in the present for chances of promise that may never come in the future.
  17. Yes, that is a much better comparison in terms of similarities in skillsets. I too see much more Sandberg than I do Hardy.
  18. He’s a much better athlete, much more foot speed, much more of a threat on the base paths. Much better hitter, uses all fields. Hardy was a better defender and hit for more power, but almost an exclusive pull hitter. Westburg has a much better overall approach at the plate.
