  1. I'm a fan of Mountcastle, but you consider trading anyone if the offer is right. But, I still think he's undervalued. He's a plus defender at 1B and slightly better than a league average hitter. Mayo has not proven he can play on the infield grass. In fact, his performance argues against that. Personally, I think Basallo will be the replacement at 1B in the long term. And, if the Orioles are going to trade a veteran fielder during the off season, I think it's more likely to be Mullins than Mountcastle.
  2. No surprise that I'm not surprised about Mountcastle's impact.
  3. I've long been a supporter of moving Mayo to RF. I think he does have the athleticism to play there and certainly has the arm. Likewise, I believe that Basallo could be the long term solution at 1B if Rutschman continues to be the primary catcher. I was disappointed that Mayo got so many reps at 1B, where he played poorly, vs. RF.
  4. Did you watch Sunday’s game when every button he pushed was gold? No matter what a manager does, hitters gotta hit and pitchers gotta pitch and he only has so many bullets that he can fire.
  5. Uhm……Norfolk maybe.
  6. Tony, I don’t think the first group looks like the second group. I’m pretty sure the Elias would put Mayo in that first group. I sure hope so.
  7. Apparently you are also a fan of sending Silent Jay down. Anything else you want to rethink?
  8. Only real issue is the need to add him to the 40 man roster and cut another player. Although there are guys that can easily go.
  9. I believe that the Orioles' MiL development team has decided that Coby Mayo is not a third baseman. I wish they had given him some time in right field, but they obviously didn't think he'd be a good fit there. They've been giving him a good bit of time at first base but we have not need for a first baseman right now. So, they've already started the Ryan Mountcastle play and until Ryan is moved (which means after the season since the trade deadline has passed) Mayo will have to wait. [Really wanted to have a "the Orioles will hold the Mayo" reference, but I'm sure it's been used.]
  10. Not sure Urias will be moved with Mateo on the IL.
  11. This is the salad of trades. It isn’t food. It’s what comes before the food. It’s a promissory note that food is on the way. (with a nod to John Pinette)
  12. In a post where he says “I’m smart…” that’s hilarious. And yes, I was tempted to spell where “were.”
  13. I’m a strong Mountcastle fan so take this for what it’s worth, but I think the willingness to trade him is much greater here than it is in Elias’s or Hyde’s offices.
  14. Can’t help but think that if Elias really is talking to Detroit about Skubal, he must at least be considering trading one of the top prospects.
