  1. Can you point to that contingent? Just one. Find me one person who says that and I'll say that I agree with you, otherwise, you're being sarcastic for no reason.
  2. Sigbot to me is just the whole system from the analysts to the computer programs themselves that looks for minute small advantages when setting lineup or usage outlines.
  3. If you felt like you were making a joke, you have a very odd way of writing a joke. That 100% came across as a big FU to me for writing what I wrote.
  4. I still think you are missing the point a bit. This is not about taking any players out long term. O'Hearn is a starter on this team against RHP, and he should be. But say the Orioles run into a strong of right-handed pitching, what's wrong with giving him a day off? Now you have a great bat in the bench and you keep Kjerstad fresh so he can be a better bat on the bench. this is a team running out McCann, Mateo and Urias against lefties and sometimes righties so there are PH opportunities late in games. Anyways, my whole point is giving guys off one day a week or once every 8-9 games to get him into games 3-4 times a week doesn't seem hard with a little lineup creativity. Isn't that the whole reason for having players be versatile?
  5. The Orioles understand more than anyone Kjerstad's defensive liabilities. But they also know what his bat can bring. What none of us know, including the Orioles is how well Kjerstad hits after getting one PA in a week. So if the plan was to do that, why bring him up? He was in a groove all year in AAA. There are plenty of ways to get him into games 3-4 times a week that doesn't require them to bench anyone long term. I'm a big believer that players play better when they get more breaks. Most players over 26-years old are more productive playing 140-145 games year than 155. I'm not suggesting Kjerstad should supplant Santander as the everyday RFer because Santander is off to a bad start, I'm suggesting they get more creative in giving guys off a day or two here and there so he can stay fresh. Honestly, with as much talent as they have in the upper minors, this how they could have a really good bench vs having Urias and Mateo take up spots (though at least Mateo brings a lot of versatility and speed).
  6. I think anyone on this board deserves more respect than a comment like that. That's like saying, "Nobody cares what you have to say" on a board that is specifically designed to allow people to have their say. Nobody here thinks Elias is reading this board and going, "Oh, Tony doesn't like that so I better stat playing Kjerstad!" lol
  7. This is a team that runs O'Hearn out to RF. If they are willing to do that, they should be willing to run Kjerstad out there because they are not really all that different defensively in RF. Kjerstad is not a great defender, but he's not some Trumbo like liability out there either (though Trumbo threw way better than Kjerstad). I did this once before, but I showed how you can rotate guys around to give him semi-regular PAs. Player day off: Santander - Kjerstad plays RF O'Hearn - Kjerstad DH Mountcastle - O'Hearn to 1B, Kjerstad to RF Mullins day off - Cowser to CF, Kjersatd to LF (live with the defense that day) Cowser day off - Kjerstad to LF Rutschman day off after catching too often - MCann catch, Kjerstad DH Even if you don't want Kjerstad in LF, that's still 4 other starters you can give a day off to and Kjerstad hit left-handers ok, so it's not like he can't play against Lefties. They can find a way to get him 3-4 starts and PH in another 1-2 easily. If they don't want to do that, and it's ok if they have a different opinion of him, then send him back down and have him wait his turn and bring up Stowers or go get Hicks and let them play once a week.
  8. What an idiotic comment. If this is the brilliance you want to bring to the board, keep it to yourself. This is a community for conversation. If you think for one second I think they care what i have to say, then your delusional. But that doesn't mean I'm not going to give my take. That's what i do and if you don't like it, go away and don't post here no more.
  9. No, I'm on the side of if you bring up a top prospect, you don't treat him like the 26th man on the bench when you can rotate guys around and keep everyone fresh while keeping you top prospect fresh. Not sure how that is a hard concept or why you would think I just want to play the prospects over vets. There are enough at bats between Cowser Mullins, Santander, O'Hearn, Mountcastle and Rutschman to give one a day off so Kjestad can play 4-5 a week. Giving any player one at bat over a week is not good roster usage and it certainly does not keep a player fresh and game ready. It's almost criminal to do that to a guy OPSing over a 1.000 in AAA. If you plan on just running your regulars out there until they get tired, sure, go ahead, but don't bring up Kjerstad. They could have just brought up Stowers to do that.
  10. Kjersatd was recalled and started in his first game up (Apr 23rd) and had one pinch hit appearance since. He obviously was not going to start against Cortez tonight, but it's pretty clear the Orioles have no intention of rotating out their starters to give him PAs. Kjerstad meet Stowers, Stowers meet Kjerstad. Hyde/Sigbot treats you the same. The Orioles should have moved Kjerstad for an impact reliever this offseason if they had no plans to properly use him once they bring him to the major leagues. Outside of Gunnar and Adley, the Orioles do not treat prospects, at least not the uber prospects, like they need to get at bats. They're in first place, so I guess you can't argue with the results, but I do not agree with Kjerstad just wallowing away on the bench. One PA in a week is not how you handle a rookie in my opinion. I'm sure he's not arguing because he's making big league money, but if they were just planning on burying Kjerstad, they should have just brought up Stowers and let Kjerstad play everyday in AAA until they needed him. Honestly, they might as well re-sign Hicks and send Kjerstad back if this is the playing time they plan to give this role.
  11. His -0.8 ft/sec for routes confirms this and backs up what I saw in the minors. Cowser catches everything he gets to and his acceleration and top running speed on the go allows him to catch a good amount of harder balls, but he rarely looks smooth doing so.
  12. I do think that statcast needs some tweaking. While it's promising and I love the concept, there is no doubt it's kicking out some wonky catch percentages. If you check out the graphs of the catches, they graph correctly to 1-5 star catches, but the catch percentages can be all over the place on some balls. I also have some concerns over the infield OAA. I don't know if MLB is working to fix these or not since they longer give you an opportunity to reach out to them. I wonder if the issues can be traced to the Hawkeye system?
  13. Strikeouts and whiff have always been part of Cowser's game. But so has putting up good numbers. He's going to fine.
  14. Hello everyone. I wanted to introduce John Eisenberg who is releasing a bunch of his interviews that he did when he was interviewing former players, managers and executives for his book about Orioles history. John reached out and asked how he can get these to Orioles fans and i suggested he join up and post them here. While I know everyone is excited and talking about the Orioles now, this a great opportunity to learn more about the past and ask John any questions that he may have. Welcome to the board John and thanks for sharing your tapes and accounts here at the Hangout.

    Moises Chace 2024

His command of all of his pitches is not great, but they seemed improved from last year. Some of the stuff is real good, but he still looks more like a potential bullpen guy than a starter to me.

    Matthew Etzel 2024

Hard to argue with that analysis from Law. I like Etzel, especially for a 10th round pick, but he's probably got more of a 4th outfielder vibe to him because of his lack of pop. I also want to see him against upper level pitching before getting too high on him. Also, while I do think he's a plus runner, he's not a burner. More like McKenna speed with better base stealing instincts.
  17. Nice to have Perez back and throwing well. Have three good lefties that do it different ways is nice in the pen.
  18. The night is always more sweet with an Orioles win. And WAY more sweet when it's over the Yankees!
  19. Nice job by the pen this time. Gotta give them credit.
