  1. I actually have been looking and there's a play for Cowser that was really a two-star nice catch that had a 5-sta catch probability. And low and behold, he got credit for making a 5-star catch, yet it wasn't. Something is up. I don't see a way to contact anyone anymore.
  2. Statast has still not changed that. It was plotted correctly at more of a 2-star catch, but somehow gave it a 25% chance of catching it. O'Hearn took a bad route and ball ended up behind his glove as he awkwardly pulled up because he as scared of crashing into the wall. https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/sporty-videos?playId=4b563eb2-f04f-40cc-833f-27946212bdd0 Nobody could watch that play and think it was a 5-star catch with a 25% catch probability. It's obviously was an error in the catch probability score. This is what a real 5-star catch looks like.. https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/sporty-videos?playId=f63d2370-55d3-4199-90b9-285317203e4c I'm not sure why some of the catch probabilities don't match the plot. The plots seem more accurate.
  3. This is my most important aspect of a radio announcer.
  4. The sweeper looks new. He had a 12-6 ish curveball last year so maybe another look for him?
  5. I guess I don't start scoreboard watching until June at the earliest. Obviously we don't want the Yankees or anyone else getting off to a great lead, but the key is for the Orioles to win series. this team is not perfect, but it's very good and will be fine.
  6. It's all good Roy. The game thread emotional posts stay in the game thread. We don't talk about the game thread outside of the game thread! Despite both passing, ScOtt (121349) and Weams (115271) are still 1 and 2 in the amount of posts. Saying that, this post count is not all-time. I can't remember but I know we had a reset of post counts in one changeup over years ago and lost a bunch when we purged some posts when the board was on a different server and was too big to move to a new server. Sports Guy took a few years off from this board (self-imposed) and is still #5 with 64451 posts. From what I see Roy, you have the 10th most content (posts) with your 32228 posts. Impressive. https://forum.orioleshangout.com/topmembers/?filter=member_posts @Frobby dwarfs us all in reputation points awarded by other members. https://forum.orioleshangout.com/topmembers/?filter=pp_reputation_points
  7. Not sure it's a "gotta" thing, but I think the goal is always to take 2 of 3. If you get a sweep it's the cherry on the top.
  8. Yep, and you could say the same thing about Mountcastle and Hays. That was my issue with them as the "veteran" core. I would have tried to move one of them this offseason for a top reliever or part of a package for a starter before they got Burnes. Santander is going to get out of this slump and he's going to go on a tear at some point because that's who he is, but he's always going to be a guy who's a blackhole for a bit.
  9. Because rookie criteria was made up a long time ago and it needs to be updated. I'd argue it definitely should be PAs and should be closer to 120 PAs.
  10. I don't think anyone would dislike with those numbers, but I'd argue if he puts up those numbers, he's going to get more than 402 PAs this year. Probably close to 500 PAs. So what does his numbers project to at 500 PAs?
  11. I have to agree. The command has been really surprising. He's really hitting his spots with his pitches. Now it would be nice to have a shutdown 8th guy that doesn't have to be platooned. I'm wondering of Coulombe might be the best fit right now? Cano is still throwing the ball well, but he's struggled a bit early on against lefties. Hyde came out pretty quick yesterday when a lefty came up, and that tells me if Coulombe is available, he's coming in with lefties coming up in close games in the 8th. I still wish we had a shutdown 8th inning guy with Coulombe an Cano able to match up in the 7th.
  12. Is Adley the best catcher in baseball? I like him as much as the next guy, but we did expect more power from him when he was drafted 1:1. Now I know his impact on the Orioles and I love that we have him, but looking at the stats currently, he's certainly not playing like the best catcher in baseball. In 2023 his framing was good, but 12th overall and 31st so far this year. Over the last two years his 21% caught stealing rate and 0 Catcher's CS Above Average is only mediocre. So While I like Adley, and I do think he's among the top 10 catchers in baseball, I don't think he's the absolute "best catcher in baseball". Can he heat up and become that? Sure. But over the last two years he's not been that no matter what the pundits say. And yes, we do expect him to hit more home runs than he has the last two years.
  13. His signing makes even less sense. Elias had Maton and Wong in house. Maybe Wong had a higher salary if he made it, but why he felt a need to go get Kemp still makes no sense. I mean, why not just give Norby that time in the big leagues until they were going to bring up Holliday? Just weird all around.
  14. By the way, I have to also feel good for Joey Ortiz. Always nice to play against the team that traded you away. I still like the trade, but have to be happy for Ortiz who looks fantastic in the field and solid at the plate.
  15. I was going to go to today's game but decided against it after last night's debacle. Glad I decided to not go today either. This is just ugly. They are not getting beat by the Brewers. They are getting absolutely smashed by the Brewers. Gotta take my hat off though. Impressive offensive display by them. They are hitting like .400 with runners in scoring position. Oh, and while it doesn't matter, this ump is awful.
  16. Baumann is a vulture for wins, and a vulture in giving up inherited runners and getting out with little damage.
  17. Because Elias' draft concept up until last year was to mainly draft the bats, buy/acquire the arms.
  18. That's baseball. At the end of the day, the Orioles need to the pitching to stop them.
  19. Damn, the Brewers are just punking the Orioles pitching. Wow. These guys are white hot.
  20. Brewers are finding out what we knew. DL Hall is not a starter.
  21. They've scored 5 in 4 inning, this game aint over.
  22. Only 4 Whiffs on the day. Hard to be contact pitcher to a team on fire.
  23. Brewers offense on fire. Couldn't afford the clown show defense last inning.
