  1. I don't think Hays is going to be totally Wally Pipp'd yet, but I do think as long as Cowser is hitting he's going to see the vast amount of starting outfield starts in LF against right-handed pitching.
  2. I saw when he caught that ball he stood there like a statue and stared at Cedric, maybe expecting a reaction. Cedric, ever the pro, ran off like, "Act like you been there before kid!" At least that's how I saw it in my head.
  3. Not a bad point, and on the surface, I would have to agree. Just wondering why the Angels have given up on him twice now? Unless they just promoted someone from AA or got a prospects off the IL, or just acquired someone, there doesn't seem to be anyone be journeyman minor leaguers playing 2B and SS for Salt Lake City. Maybe he just has a personality class with the manager/coaches or front office? eh, I've already put too much time into wondering about this guy.
  4. Statcast has him with 7 WHIFFs (23%), 3 on curve, 3, change, 1 4-seamer. https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/gamefeed?date=2024-04-11&chartType=pitch&legendType=pitchName&playerType=pitcher&inning=&count=&pitchHand=&batSide=&descFilter=&ptFilter=&resultFilter=&hf=playerBreakdown&sportId=11#752714
  5. Ah thanks, read that wrong. As for Soto, good claim. Must be some personality things going on here with him to be DFA'd so much with options. Seems like talent wise he's decent depth.
  6. True statement. And he leads the team in Brls/PA %.
  7. This post was reported for religion. I don't have an issue with the conversation as long as it stays on the subject of the Orioles showing their faith. Please do not turn this into a personal religious conversation. Just trying to set the rules within this thread so it doesn't go outside of the spirit of the rules set to ensure we don't get into a religious argument. Personally, if any player has a strong belief in a religion or any higher power, and they use that to help fuel them, I think that's a good thing. I also believe that players that share common bonds can not hurt team cohesion.
  8. 04/10/24 SS Noelberth Romero assigned to Norfolk Tides from Delmarva Shorebirds. TT: Romero is an org guy to cover on Holliday moving up and the Maton injury 04/10/24 3B Alfredo Velásquez assigned to Delmarva Shorebirds from FCL Orioles. TT: 19-year old Venezuelan who had a disappointing FCL campaign last year gets the first call to fill to replace Romero. 04/10/24 Norfolk Tides placed SS Nick Maton on the 7-day injured list. TT: He was replaced in Tuesday's games but didn't see what happened. Anyone? 04/10/24 Norfolk Tides activated CF Shayne Fontana. TT: Org guy who adds another outfielder. Norby was moved back to 2B in the first game post Holliday, with Maton gone as well, but hopefully if Kemp takes the Norfolk assignment, they'll move Norby back out to outfield. 04/10/24 Baltimore Orioles selected the contract of SS Jackson Holliday from Norfolk Tides. TT: Think we know about this one. 04/09/24 OF Douglas Hodo III assigned to Delmarva Shorebirds from Aberdeen IronBirds. TT: Was on the developmental list at Aberdeen meaning he was not able to make any team but the org wanted him as org depth. A disappointing 5th round pick, he's just an or outfielder. 04/09/24 Delmarva Shorebirds placed OF Jake Cunningham on the 7-day injured list. TT: Not sure what happened to him. Anyone?
  9. Kimbrel looked very dominant! Good win!
  10. Adley should take 162nd of his paycheck and donate it to charity after this game. Just some terrible, embarrassing at bats, terrible game calling, and pretty much a deer in headlight look all night.
  11. Yeah, can't have a lead off triple with your 2nd and 3rd hitters up coming up and not score. Both Adley and Santander need a day or two off. Go find yourselves because that's emabarrassing.
  12. Such a weird game. Not sure I've seen a major league hitter ever swing at a pitch that hit him that far inside.
  13. Oy, this is a game Adley would like to forget.
  14. 100%.. Irvin isn5th starter. Crap umpiring and bad hitting until this inning has is down 5-0.
  15. I just came in here to see, the ump cost us at least one run and Adley should donate his paycheck for his 0-2 hangup pitch call and his awful, awful at bat against Crawford when literally the sweeper is the only pitch he was getting over.
  16. Mordan can hit a little. I just don't know where he's going to play unless he can improve a lot defensively at C. He can't throw at all.

    Moises Chace 2024

His quick scouting report after last season. I haven't seen this outing yet to see if there is any jump in stuff or just a great night. 53. Moises Chace – RHP (A): The 6-1 right-hander started to put things together a bit late in the summer before getting shut down for an injury. The 20-year old’s fastball sits 92-93 and touches 94-95. His best pitch is a solid average change up that works really well against lefties who slashed just 1.82/.310/.347/.657 off him. Throws a slider and curveball though both pitches are very inconsistent and have to improve. Command overall is still a big problem as his fastball tends to run up and away too often.
  18. Which is why I kept "arguing" that point to several posters who were more "excited." I really like Basallo's bat, and maybe it was just a real bad night, but one of the things i loved about him was his ability to stay balanced and holy crap, he was anything but balanced last night in several of his PAs. But it's way too early to draw any conclusions (Not saying you are). It's just an observation from one game.

    Matthew Etzel 2024

Mostly from what I've heard from others more than what I've personally observed, though I wasn't blown away by his jumps or routes a few time I was able to catch them on videos. I don't want to make too definitive of a statement until I can get better eyes on.
  20. If you get the trial, definitely watch Master of the Air on Apple TV+. Well worth it!
  21. Somebody graduated. Congrats!

    Matthew Etzel 2024

Results are all that matter from this point forward. While Bradfield will get the benefit of the doubt from a "prospect" standpoint by evaluators for a bit, if Etzel keeps out performing him he will get passed by. I'm not ready to say Etzel is better than Bradfield by any stretch yet, but come talk to me after this season is over and I'll have a much better idea. As fast as Bradfield is and as good as his plate discipline is, I really would like to see him drive the ball more. While Etzel is not going to be big pop guy either, and he's probably better suited to a corner outfield position rather than center, he does show some ability to drive the ball a bit. Bradfield's GB rate is not sustainable no matter how fast he is because infielder's range and arms get much better than higher he goes up the chain.
  23. He doesn't have a "weak" arm, it's just not a top tier shortstop arm.
  24. It's a great point on timing. I don't think anything that team does we with PR is not calculated. I do think if Westburg hasn't picked it up by May, he will end up switching spots with Mayo. Now they could move Westburg to utility, but would he get enough PAs to improve or would they prefer to he get everyday PAs in Norfolk if that occurs? I think that's the question.
  25. I think he's got enough foot speed to do it right now and clearly enough arm. But the orioles are stacked with RF prospects so I think they will try to shoehorn him in at either 3B or 1B.
