  1. Nestor Aparicio just totally dropped the bomb on John Angelos in this post: https://baltimorepositive.com/dear-john-angelos-youre-a-civic-disgrace-just-like-your-father-now-sign-the-lease/ I had my run-ins with Nestor many years ago, but this well-written piece gives a lot of history of how this petty family has treated people across the board. And yes, I do find it ironic that this was posted on a site called Baltimorepositive.com.
  2. Ok, I had to finally get rid of that yahoo. He started calling names and used inappropriate language plus was just trolling at this point. BTW, his IP address resolved to Towson. Doesn't John Angelos have an office in Towson? As much as I enjoy the hits, I couldn't let that continue with him.
  3. You are quickly becoming a troll. What makes you think any of WANTED to talk about this? This IS a story whether you want to admit it or not. Either way, you can have any opinion that you want but trolling is not allowed on this site. If you have nothing better to add than these comments, please move on or we will help you move on.
  4. What indications do you have from listening to press conferences and player interviews that you feel the Orioles beat reporters are going to ask players these questions? And even if they did, I can guarantee the players will say they have no comment on it because they are focused on the game at hand.
  5. Thanks. The one thing I will say is that I agree, there can be and usually is more to a story then what is reported. What we have to remember is that most likely there are only a few people who know what Angelos said, and one may not even be Kevin Brown. I have a hard time believing Angelos would talk to such a peasant like Brown so he must've used an intermediary. Now, was that person a MASN person or an Orioles PR person? My guess is it was probably somebody in MASN who was told to take Brown off the air and the PR people may not have even known this was happening because MASN is separate from the Orioles. This would make some sense in my mind because any competent PR person would get in front of this story before it came out because there was no way his doesn't leak at some point. Now, who leaked the story? Well, it would make sense that Brown would talk to his fellow broadcasters and other people he knows in the industry, especially after he has lingered for so long. It's not like he lost one game to this, but has been out for a few weeks now, right? At some point someone, maybe even Brown himself, leaked this to the people who started to make this a story. Once it went viral, the cat was out of the bag and now the PR people are trying to do damage control and it appears that is deny that the comments were the reason he's not on the air and then say they don't discuss personnel matters publicly. Ok, fair enough on the second part, but basically they are calling all the reports on why he was suspended false. Now, I believe the reports because of past actions by John Angelos and that this does fit his character, and the fact that the sources I know are corroborating the story. Saying that, none of us know what Angelos said to who or what Brown did in response to hearing that he was being taken off the air in the middle of this great season for such a dumb innocuous comment. I've heard there are many people involved with the broadcast, including other broadcasters that are not happy about this. But what are they going to do about it? Besides Brown, who else is getting picked up by another major league team in their current roles?
  6. Roch has not kept his job for as long as he had by not knowing when to go quiet in a situation where he has nothing to gain by saying something. The one thing I do think people forget is we are talking about livelihoods here. Jobs can be at stake if they make the smallest of blunders so why put yourself in a situation that could cost you your gig? It's easy to be at home and writing on social media about what people "should do" but until they have to make a decision that could cost them their job, I'm not sure they are in a position to tell others what they should do. The one thing PR people and the media have learned is that the public attention can easily be diverted and I believe that's what the Orioles will do. By waiting until August 11th for Brown to come back on the air, they will assume this will have simmered down and if the Orioles are still winning and in 1st no one will be bringing this up. But they are risking a few things here. IF for some reason the Orioles go into a tailspin, people will bring up this distraction as the cause. Nothing is going to ever change in how the Orioles are run as an organization administratively as long as an Angelos is involved with owning this team. From Peter's well-documented exploits over the years, the public infighting between the mother/John and Louis, and now the recent exploits and comments made by John Angelos, there is only one constant and that's the last name Angelos.
  7. Rob needs to be careful though. Britt was going scorched earth on John Angelos for sure! It was a good listen.
  8. Haha, Britt just called out Rob on his show!
  9. Dude, you are about the 10th person to post this.
  10. You're one of those guys on twitter/X that says, "Until I know your sources I don't believe you!" That's not how any of this works. No one that is in the know, including Brown is going to openly discuss this situation. Everyone in this organization just saw that the smallest of perceived negative comments can be responded to by getting "suspended/not scheduled).
  11. There is little doubt that Elias has been under very tight payroll options since he salary dumped players like Jonathan Villar and Alex Cobb for lesser prospects because I'm sure he was unable to eat some of the contracts in order to get back better prospect returns. It's like when Kevin Gausman was traded to the Braves and Darren O'Day and his contract was included instead of getting back better prospects from a loaded Braves farm system at the time. Even the trades of Castro, Bleier, Scott/Sulser and Givens all reek of trades that were made to lose payroll vs actually getting good prospect returns. Now I could be wrong on these moves and maybe Elias/Sig's team just weren't good at evaluating the talent returned for these major league relievers, but it seems like he was more interested in losing payroll then actually getting good talent in return for useable relief pieces. Then you add in this offseason when Elias was all about "take off" until he got his budget and I think Elias may be able to make the moves he wants, but it's under the tight budgetary options given to him by ownership.
  12. Of course John, and mean this poster, knows who she is.
  13. Let's stay away from the name calling. Questioning his intelligence is fair game as long as name calling is not included.
  14. You do realize "eviscerating" the front office moves vs going after ownership has two different reactions from John Angelos, right?
  15. That's untrue. Duquette was the VP of baseball Operations for the Orioles and was being offered the President of Operations by the Blue Jays. On top of it, he reportedly was offered a good but more money. Only a fool would not have considered that offer, especially after being out of baseball for as long as Duquette was. Would you not consider an offer for a promotion and more money? Plus, as we know now, Peter Angelos was still allowing back door channels from Buck and Brady (among others). He was given an opportunity to be able to have final authority on all baseball operations plus a pay raise. Why would anyone not consdier that offer. On top of it all, from what I've heard Duquette basically brought the offer to Angelos to see if he would match it but Angelos was just taken aback by his "disloyalty" for even listening to that offer. Then, Angelos tried to get two top prospects from the Blue Jays which froze all baseball moves during that 2014-2015 season that saw Nelson Cruz walk away. Once the deal fell through because of Angelos' demands, he basically kept Duquette around to make him fulfill his contract but allowed Buck and eventually Brady to have much more "control/influence" on major moves. Duquette basically stayed active doing those "dumpster diving" moves that he was so good at and signing upper level minor league free agents.
  16. Historically awful decision for sure, but no, that should not take away from what Buck did for a rudderless organization prior to him coming here.
  17. Duquette did exactly what he was brought her to do, and that was to create a playoff caliber team. Not surprisingly, he did it in 2 out of the 3 years (2012-2014) he was fully in control prior to the Toronto incident that took away most of his power and decision making powers on major moves.
  18. Lennie Johnston was a minor league coach and instructor, but was mainly known as the Sarasota minor league complex guy who ran operations down there for years. Lenny was a former paratrooper in the Army so when I first met him, we had an instant bond. He was always the go to guy to get a minor league roster with numbers which certainly helped me a lot to know who was who before the internet made it so easy to get pictures of these guys. Saying that, your point is taken. Based off the folks in the Orioles HoF, both Showalter and Duquette belong in there.
  19. Well that's certainly a hot take.
  20. We forgot how long ago that Peter Angelos fired Jon Miller and there's entire generation of fans that really weren't around or too young to remember. Then, the Orioles stunk for so long that many of this generation really didn't start following the Orioles until about 2012 or so, and then the embarrassing 2018 that brought on the complete rebuild that resulted in awful records. Then you add in how good things have gone this year, and some fans don't want anything negative to come out so they defend the "Orioles" no matter what. So when you think about it, the Twiiter/X crowd, which is mostly millennials, really don't have a grasp on how bad this family is at ownership. It will not surprise me that the Orioles will deny suspending him over the comments, bring Brown back, call it a scheduling decision, and give everyone a gag order on the situation and allow the winning on the field to change the conversation. None of us want to be talking about this. This probably will be largely forgotten in about a week, though that still doesn't mean this doesn't let fans know exactly who JA is as an owner and person.
  21. The worse part is these announcers keep saying "The Orioles" or the "Orioles management" which makes the whole organization look bad when really it's just one, thin-skinned little man who is making the org look bad. But what do you expect from a guy who has a press release brought back and has his name replace "The Orioles" so he can look like he's doing something.
  22. Only an Angelos can eff up the good vibes around a young, winning 1st place team.
  23. He could have just said there was no issue between him and Kevin Brown. Either way, I don't know the whole story and I have heard there are a lot of folks pissed at Angelos, but I don't know if that includes McDonald or not. BTW, that whole "sell coming to the yards" thing every chance you get is a real thing as well from what I heard. that's why it was all about Mr. Splash for awhile and why the broadcasters are out in CF even though that's not a good angle o call a game from.
  24. Stuff is good overall, but has allowed 50% of the 22 inherited runners to score, so hopefully they bring him in during a clean inning. I think he'll get a few weeks to show he can be fixed a bit. Right now I'm ok with him over Krehbiel.
