  1. I do think Cowser could be a guy moved in the right deal but it shouldn't be for a rental. Now, Cowser could end up the left fielder of the future here but he's not the CF of the future and you have to think they are thinking RF for Kjerstad. Saying that, if he could bring a good starter or impact reliever with at least another full year on the contract I would imagine the Orioles would listen, especially if they could swing and stop gap CF to replace him in the deal or an accompanying deal.
  2. Truth. And it makes me smile every time I think about it.
  3. Well the obvious answer to your self aware hyperbolic statement is no. Saying that, I would like to see the team acquire either a starter or impact reliever without giving up a top-8 prospect in the organization. Guys like Norby, Vavra, Stowers and Fabian/Wagner/Beavers should have value that could land someone that can help this team's depth. This is a big test for Elias. He's never been in this position as the chief decision maker and since he's in 1st place with a team doing well, does he decide to be like Pat Gillick and "stand Pat?"
  4. Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mike Mu$$ina is the only drafted and developed All-Star by the Orioles to ever sign with the Yankee$ in his prime. He choose to go into the HoF (he doesn't belong there either because he belongs in the Hall of Very Good with Harold Baines but that's another story) with no cap Orioles cap on. That was the final nail in his retire his number as an Orioles thing. All of the others went in with Orioles caps on. Yes, I know Peter Angelos was a terrible owner, and yes I know he was trying to get another hometown discount, but he ultimately did match the Yankee$ offer and Mu$$ina was like nope. Mu$$ina never won a Cy Young, never won 20-games, and never won a World Series with the Orioles. All of the players that are retired all won a World Series with the Orioles and all either won a Cy Young (4 for Palmer) or were MVPs. So it's big fat no for me. But you guys probably knew that.
  5. Actually, he threw the heck out of his slider so that was obviously something he was working on. He threw 9 sliders, 5 4-seam fastballs, and only two sinkers and one changeup. That was completely different than the mostly sinker, changeup guy he's been this year. Out of the nine sliders, he got three swings and two whiffs despite only throwing 4 of 9 for strikes. He used his 4-seam fastball to get strikes throwing 4 of 5 for strikes. It was actually pretty interesting to see the changes. This backs up my theory that it wasn't that his stuff at ticked down, just that hitters had made adjustments to him. Now he's making adjustments back.
  6. Not a fan of Cano pitching tonight. Unless it gets closer, give that guy some rest.
  7. Hopefully we can keep this lead so Krehbiel can pitch instead.
  8. This. it's hard to get too excited over him throwing again because he's yet to show he can do it over an extended period without getting hurt. He's barely pitched since 2020. Let's hope he can stay healthy and get some innings under his belt in Delmarva.
  9. I was fan before the injury so it's nice to hear the stuff seems to have come back. Looking forward to watching him the rest of the year.
  10. Let's remember, Cole Irvin allowed 5 hits and a walk while only getting 4 outs. He caused that jam overall. He just can't pitch in the AL East. Elias needs to find better. His only trade of the offseason of moving prospects for pitching sucked.
  11. Plus, this is Baltimore and national TV. Baltimore teams seem to come up small in these situations. Young upstart team ready to make a statement on the National scene? Nope, spanking by the Yankees.
  12. Again. Its becoming a serious issue. When your manager can't get you out fast enough that could be something that needs to get addressed.
  13. Bryan Baker has never met an inherited runner that he wanted to strand. Lol Never, I mean never bring this guy in except to start a clean inning.
  14. I just get good information sometimes. I never saw him play, but I can tell by the answers how excited they really are over a player or not. Despite his good numbers, it was clear Lara was a "need to prove it at every level" guy.
  15. The Orioles are 13-4 in games where Cowser has played so I think that allows his slow start to be minimized. Right now, with both Mullins and Hicks on the IL, Cowser is not going anywhere unless the Orioles pick up a major league CF option at the trade deadline. Cowser has needed to adjust to every level he's played at so it's not surprising he's having the same adjustment at the big-league level. His bat will come around. As for his defense, there's a reason I kept saying his going to end up as a corner outfielder and his statcast data so far has shown that to be true. He's not going to kill the team in CF but he will end up a slightly below average CFer because of his jumps and routes and I do believe his 61 percentile speed will continue to decrease a bit. Overall, he's going split CF with McKenna until Hicks is healthy at the very least and hopefully his bat will begin to wake up a bit.
  16. Grayson has been very impressive tonight despite the lack of Ks.
  17. Nice that MASN keeps showing us COVID era baseball during rain delays. Nothing betetr than seeing no fans with players and coaches masked up. Fun stuff! Not!
  18. Last year, including his start when his velocity was down, Hall averaged 96.2 MPH on his fastball and hit 98 several times in relief. The 94.4 is better than the 93.2 he averaged in his appearance this year, but still not where it was last year.
  19. Perez is probably a good comp size wise for him eventually so that is a good example of a guy that big who has continued to catch at the big league level deep into his career. He does tower over some Caroline League batters and umpires for sure which makes me think he's taller than his listed 6-3. I think Felix Bautista was still listed at 6-3, 180 when he was in Frederick starting to get attention. I remember going to look at video after looking at his numbers and was like, who the hell is this guy? No way that guy was anywhere close to his listed height and weight at the time. Either way, I haven't noticed anything he does poorly behind the plate though he needs to continue to develop in receiving and blocking a bit.
  20. Potentially. I'm not saying he can't stay at catcher with all certainty, but to protect the bat and his knees, I think they will eventually move him. So I guess at the end of the day, depends on you definition of likely. I think he's much bigger already then his listed height and weight in BB Ref. He's certainly much heavier than 180 and he's only 18-years old. He'll also built like a guy who is just going to end up a very big guy. Now the arm is strong and he moves well enough right now behind the plate that it's not going to happen anytime soon, but even if he starts his career as a catcher at the major league level, I'm guessing it won't be long before he is gradually moved to 1B. Jonah Heim was 6-4 but rail thin at 18-years old. Basallo has a thicker chest and waist from what I've seen on his game footage and that typical ends up filling out into a heavier guy. Now I haven't seen him up close with no shirt on so I'm judging a bit by him in uniform, but I see a kid who going to be very big. But, Basallo is a pretty unique athlete in that he's very flexible so maybe he will buck the odds and continue to catch in his career. I certainly would never say never. He'll be an interesting case to follow.
  21. I wouldn't agree with that. I do think it's likely he will need to move to 1B at some point. He's a huge young man that is going to fill out and be an even huger young man. It's not his arm and he's very limber for his size, but I just can't see a a 6-4 (He looks bigger than 6-3 to me), 230 or 240 pound catcher. That a lot of size and weight to bend down all the time. If the bat is as special as it looks like it could be, I think he'll end up at 1B. To me, Willems has the better chance to stick at catcher.
