  1. Hopefully this is just a bad start for Wells and he's not John Means, a 1st half wonder.
  2. I agree. This team has shown over and over again that they don't go into downward spirals due to one game. Could they lose tonight? Sure. Will it be because they are reeling from last night? I don't think so.
  3. Ah, ok. I don't think for a second that Holliday that Holliday won't continue to improve his flyball rates as he grows into his man strength and starts driving the ball more with backspin.
  4. I wasn't worried, I brought it up as something to watch. I make observations on players and tell you all what to keep an eye on. At no point do I recall being "worried" about his ground ball rate.

    Cade Povich 2023

Povich may not have made the big jump that we had hoped for, but the stuff is definitely there. I think he's still growing into his body a bit and once that's done the command should come around. If he ever could gain some lower half weight he could really gain some intriguing velocity. Either way, I'm still high on hi as a starting pitching prospect but he may be a guy that just takes a little more time.
  6. He's listed 6-2, 195, but he doesn't look 6-2 from the broadcasts. It's so early it's hard to put any real roles on him yet, but that delivery gives me reliever vibes and and injury risk. We'll see if the Orioles can clean that up some more or if he's just one of those guys that can pitch that way. Mike Clevinger is a good example of guy who has proven he can be a starter with a "reliever effort" delivery. Either way, he's a nice young arm to follow.
  7. Holliday will definitely have more power than Arraez. I think he's end up an 18-25 kind of guy with lots of doubles and a very high walk rate.
  8. I think we'll see that rate lower as he gets more mature and stronger. I'm not too worried about his groundball rate yet.
  9. Yeah, that's a pretty good take. I do this this July is Rodriguez's last shot this year of being a guy for them this year as a starter.
  10. Your guess is as good as mine. He's disappeared off the face of the baseball earth since going to the Florida complex for a reset. I was hoping he'd be that guy in the second half myself when the season started. But instead of getting him ready by having him relieve, they used him as a starter and his velocity never showed back up.
  11. A real effort delivery guy with a lot of moving parts in that delivery. The game I watched him (not the last one) he was 92-94 but it looks like it his good rise. The slider was inconsistent and he can throw some really bad non competitive pitches at times. Saying that, he seems to be able to throw strikes when he needs to and he's getting decent swing miss. It's a good start for him for sure.
  12. The Dodgers should be a real test for sure. I'm a little surprised they basically are throwing Rodriquez to the wolves right off the bat, but I guess we'll see if he improved. Overall though, the Orioles starters have pitched very well but that bullpen outside of Bautista and Cano for the most part can be game to game sketchy. They really need a 3rd shutdown guy out there.
  13. That was my impression too. I don't want to be too critical because he was one of my favorites players back in the day and I've never heard anything bad about him a a person. Seems like a real gentlemen but he seemed like a 1 or 2 inning guest vs a true commentator. Ben was constantly setting him when it came to hitting and defense and he little to add. I know they are doing the three man booth because they are kinda trying guys out, but I'm not a fan honestly. I do think Briand Roberts and especially Greg Olson have been good in the past. I really wish they would go get Caleb Joseph away from the the Blue Jays. I know he would be good and have stories from the 2014-18 timeframe. Plus, you know he would be funny too.
  14. LaConforta's style is what bothers a lot of people. He's a screamer who's voice is like nails on a chalkboard for some. He's knowledgeable and opinionated about the Orioles so it's not like he's awful in this areas, but he rubs people the wrong way a lot of times. He's also very open about his politics and brings that into his radio broadcast often and of course that aligns him with Angelos, but annoys half the listeners. I have a hard time listening to him on the radio because of his delivery of screaming his points when he gets fired up. Not sure if he plans to continue that approach on the pregame show or not. He's a hard listen for me, but I rarely watch the pregame show anyways due to it's constant wagering ads and comments about odds and so forth. Melanie though is very good typically in pre or post game mode and I'd rather see her paired up with a former player or even Ryan Ripken who has shown to be very good with analysis.
  15. Yeah, that was not very good heads up base running. As both Devo and McDonald said, the first move for a runner at 3rd on any hit to the outfield is back to the bag to tag.
  16. Damn, that's a grand slam for Adley before the wall move.
  17. Cowser ran like a guy who got hit by a pitch on the inner knee. He's faster than that.
  18. Could have been but it had two seam movement and not a lot of drop. Either way, that's a very hittable pitch. McCann just looks like a guy who may be done offensively. Just not looking very good for two years now.
  19. Haha. The only worse would be Bedard.
  20. What, the guy warming up without a hat? Maybe he just wanted to show off his girly braids!
  21. Yikes McCann.. Takes a 1-1 middle, knee high fastball for strike two? Got lucky on that slider that Wendell jacked that up. Not a good PA.
  22. Steal him back! I always knew he had a future in broadcasting or coaching.
  23. I would not be surprised. I like Olson overall. I'm certainly willing to see if Devo improves but he just hasn't impressed so far. I'd like to see Olson or Roberts get some more reps. I'd really like to see them bring back Caleb Joseph for a try too.
  24. I don't think he's quite that good, but the more I've watched Prieto, Arraez is the guy that came to mind.
