  1. Is it? I thought it wasn't sure and it might be in late June? Honestly, I'm never good at knowing those dates so it would not surprise me. Either way, this team should not be running O'Hearn out to RF and while Hicks has been very good since he's been an Orioles, I don't think he should be the everyday right fielder over Cowser after Mullins returns.
  2. While it's hard to "guess" along with Elias' roster construction because it often head scratchingly weird, but I think this is on. I really think Hicks took McKenna's job as the 4th outfielder once Mullins comes back though he could slide over to RF with Santander at DH and O'Hearn at 1B. We all agree Lester goes when Mullins returns, but once Mountcastle is ready, who goes? I think you have to look at the likely starting lineup vs lefties: 1B: Mountcastle 2B: Urias SS: Mateo 3B: Henderson (L) LF : Hays CF: Mullins (L) RF: Hicks DH: Santander Rutschman Bench: O'Hearn - (L) 1B/RF Frazier - (L) 2B/corner OF Backup catcher (take your pick) Last guy on the bench either Ortiz or McKenna McKenna - All 3 OF positions (Let's you rest Any outfielder including CF, but Hicks can now fill in there) Ortiz - All three infield positions (Let's you potentially rest Henderson against tough lefty) To me, having Ortiz makes more sense but they also may not at some point want Ortiz sitting so much.
  3. Personally I didn't think they were connected, but seemed like a good time to bring it up once again.
  4. It's pretty clear that Cowser and Westburg to a lesser extent are being kept down until they are sure the Super-2 won't go into effect. No one can convince me starting Lester at 1b and O'Hearn in RF (he should not have an OF glove except for emergencies) is better than Cowser starting in RF. Westburg should be the everyday 2B with Frazier on the bench where his contact bat skills would make a good pinch hitter and occasional starter. Bemboom vs Godoy? Eh, who cares? Clearly Elias loves himself some Bemboom.

    Cade Povich 2023

I think a lot of this is word play and definitions. At the end of the day, Povich has TOR stuff when he's on and there's a real possibility his velocity will continue to gain as his lower half fills out. But, his inconsistencies have held him back a bit and until he can figure out a way to limit them, he's got more likelihood of a mid-rotation starter. But he still has hoops to get through to get there as well.

    Cade Povich 2023

These are the kinds of nights that gives us a glimpse of his potential. When he's throwing strikes, he's absolutely dominant. He just needs to work on consistency like most young pitchers. The upside is very high on Povich but his floor is a dominant left-handed reliever, but unlike Hall, I believe he has a legitimate chance of sticking as a starter. The more his lower half fills out the longer he will be able to go more consistently.
  7. I don't know much about it, but Coby Mayo as the #8 prospects on his system is certainly interesting and shows how many national lists have been sleeping on him a bit.
  8. Updated with some risers and fallers. DL Hall takes a fall, but Braylin Tavera takes a big jump by starting off good in the FCL.
  9. Yeah, that had to be a spiteful move because clearly he had an opportunity here to get back. Godoy is a guy they can add and then DFA if they need to just like Kolosvary, so maybe he felt like he was replaced anyways. It's worth noting though that Godoy has thrown out just one of 18 base runners this year in AAA under the new rules base stealing rules. Overall Godoy seems like an average defensive catcher if teams don't take advantage of his inability to stop the running game. https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/jose-godoy-608422?stats=statcast-r-catching-mlb
  10. The question with Prieto is where does he fit best defensively? Second base makes the most sense but he'll be an average at best defensive 2B. The arm is lacking anywhere else for me though he could fill in at 3B and SS. The bat doesn't have a ton of home run pop, but he doesn't strike out. Kind of reminds me of a younger Adam Frazier.
  11. All, well earned promotions. Keep an eye on Charles. 98-99 MPH with a flash plus split-finger and new found command that he's never had. He could end up in the Orioles bullpen this year if he can keep it up in AAA.
  12. This looks like to me that he was very happy with his new Twins teammates so I doubt there was much "devastation" of being traded. Either way, it's very doubtful that a trade a season later would affect someone's mental state to the point of poor performance and needing to be put on the IL. Either way, i hope for the best for Lopez but I'm ecstatic how the trade has turned out already for the Orioles on the baseball side. where would this team be without Cano this year after the injuries to Tate and Givens have relegated them to afterthoughts o far this season?

    Coby Mayo 2023

He runs well enough now I believe, but will he when he fills out? Personally I'd give him some looks there but he might be a natural fit for 1B when the system doesn't really have one.
  14. Jackson is in his first ever 20 games slump of his life, so that could have something to do with his signings. Not surprising about Creed. He seems like that kind of kid.

    Coby Mayo 2023

Let's just say I think he has a lot of the tools to play there now, but needs more consistency (too many errors) and I think he's ultimately going to outgrow the position. Remember, he's 6-5, 230 pounds at 21 years old. He's going to be a beast when he fills out.

    Coby Mayo 2023

I was at the game tonight and not only did he hit that mammoth blast, he made several nice defensive plays including one coming in with a strong off balance throw to first to get the runner.
  17. The relievers are not that good. I wasn't really talking about Steele. Either way, you got to score more than 5 runs in two games.
  18. The difference between hitting 2-1 and 1-2 is immense. That's the Buckner effect. MLB afraid to fire him. He's the worse in baseball now that Angel Hernandez is basically gone.
  19. CJ Buckner can't even count. How does this happen? This is twice we've seen this this year. How does a major league umpire crew not know the counts?
  20. I'm just glad I didn't pay money to go to Chicago and watch the team look like dung.
  21. Lol, this game is a circus. Blind umpire, 8 inch mitt's on hand, and the Orioles who have decided that these mediocre Cubs pitchers can dominate them.
  22. Buckner totally changed that inning with his awful calls there. He's calling strike 3-4 inches off the plate a strike.
  23. You know, I never thought about that. Interesting thought.
  24. There are tons of pictures back in the day of players smoking in the dugouts before games. It's just surprising to hear about or see a professional athlete smoking cigarettes in this day in age when it's been so ostracized from our public social areas.
