  1. That sounds about right. I think there's a lot to be done before next spring and I'll think we're going to see that.
  2. Do we trust Elias to trade Tate and Santander? I've given Elias his props for his drafting and development, but let's remember, he traded Castro at his peak value for Kevin Smith and Victor González, and Givens for Vavra, Nevin and Mishael Deson. Add in trading Bleier for Isaac Deleon, and it's not like he has a great track record of trading his relievers for value. I'm not saying Elias is a bad trader, I'm just saying is he has yet to prove he can acquire impact talent or trade his potential impact talent depth for positions of need. I'm a little disappointed so far that all of his focus seems to be on free agents and not trading. Now maybe teams are waiting until the major free agents fall into to place to start trading for need, but I've always felt this is the areas where Elias needs to do well in this offseason especially since we know the Orioles are not going to be in on significant Free Agents that demand 5 or more years.
  3. Thanks Michael. I'm pretty sure I saw your name but I'll let you know if not.
  4. I think the key here is that Cronenworth bats left-handed while Norby and Westburg or right-handed. The question is, how much value does the wall take away from our right-handed hitting prospects and should we trade them for switch-hitters or left-handed hitters of the same value. I honestly haven't put that much thought into overall, but while Cronenworth has declined and his statcast numbers are not great offensively, I do think he would be a good fit in Camden Yards. Saying that, they think he would have hit just one more homer in Camden Yards than with the Padres.
  5. The Padres must have money to burn out there!
  6. You should be auto renewed unless you changed cards. Thanks for the support.
  7. Thanks for the support! Much appreciated!

  9. I'm Facebook friends with him, but don't see him much in my feed. Seems like he's doing well last I saw.
  10. Thanks for settling this thread down. I'm going to reopen because I don't see anything "political" left on the board so if there were, that's a warning to everyone that made "political" points on this board. @justD busts her butt to give us a great transcription and some of you are battling over some of the Dumbest stuff I've seen in some time. Personally, I thought Elias was pretty good in the interview. The only real nuggets was saying they plan to smooth out Camden Yards (good because that jutting out in left center is UGLY and saying Henderson was 6-4, 225??? Are we sure that's what he said because Henderson is listed at 6-2 everywhere else. If the transcription was right, and I'm betting it is, Elias said that the wall affected previous pitcher's psyche and contributed to making it hard to get those one year pitchers that needed to rebuild their value to sign here. Lyles was the first one last year and he knew the wall was being extended.
  11. I read through this whole thread just now, and I got to say you literally derailed this entire thread. You constant attacks were unwarranted and bordered on being against the rules and then you have he gall to report Sports Guy, calling his comment "political" when all he said was he liked a guy even better. You've got to do better.
  12. 100K was a good year for you back in the day!
  13. It's always good to hear the kid knows what he needs to work on to get there. He does have some tools to work from and he's got some deception that allows his mediocre stuff to play up a bit. The slider can be a swing and miss pitch for him at times, but it's not consistent enough at this point to be effective at the major league level for very long. He tapped into more velocity this year (up to 95-96 at times) so he's certainly a guy I'd say is interesting enough to follow, but needs improvements to be a legitimate prospects.
  14. Armbruester is ok, but he doesn't have much to defend himself against left-handers and I don't see a major league swing and miss pitch. There's a good bet he starts 2023 in Norfolk, but at best he's got middle reliever vibes for me. I see Mike Wright.
  15. I think we see Means take over Grayson Rodriguez starts by August with maybe Rodriguez going on the IL with something until September. There are going to be careful with Rodriguez this year. I'd be surprised if he pitches over 125 innings this year.
  16. Tal about some weird statcast info. His EV cratered 4.3 MPH down to 86.1 MPH and his hard hit percentage dropped 6.9% to 32.8%, both well below major leaguer average. Hit .291 (.264 xBA) off fastballs (4-seamers/sinkers/ but with a career low 83.3 EV. But when you look at just 4-seamers (typically 94 MPH or higher) he hit just .235 (.237 xBA) with an awful 80.9 EV and 25 Launch angle (LA). The other pitch he struggles to hit hard was the cutter. So basically he snuck some hits in there, but wasn't hitting the ball hard and with a 22 LA, he was hitting a lot of soft fly outs. When you look at offspeed pitches, he hits them all with good EV. So what to make of this? Could be that his bat has slowed and he's lost strength. I just want to throw allegations around, but something is definitely a miss here because it's surprising to see this from a 27 year old. Saying all that, why not give him a look in AAA?
  17. Wow, so they are on par with the Phillies? I'm not sure even I realized how much the Nationals affected the Orioles revenue and where they stand compared to the others around us.
  18. Well we are talking Washington DC sports fans. lol I like the way Elias has built the organization and besides basically ignoring top talented pitching in heir drafting, I think they've done a very good job. But, the question is whether ownership will spend when the time is ready. I think that is a question we don't have a solid answer to but so far the answer as of this date is no with John Angelos no matter what anyone says. I fear that this will not change with all the legal stuff going on so until the team is sold, I'm concerned that they will be in the 33rd percentile or less when it comes to payroll and that's going to hinder the "Houston model" that Elias has been using. Tony
  19. Potentially. He's got some athleticism for sure, but I think he's better at 2B. Now can he play at 3B? Sure. But like SS, he'll be a below average defender overall but will make the routine plays.
  20. But if he gets a World Series win out of it, do you think the fans will care? He knows he's on the cusp of winning a World Series and Turner makes them better than they were. Whether it works out or not will depend on winning a World Series, but you have to give him credit for trying. The Phillies now have Bryce Harper and Trea Turner with contracts at $300 million or more. Meanwhile the Angelos-owned Orioles are out here signing 4th/5th starters for 1 yrd $10 million contracts. So yes, I'm going to give the Phillies their props for trying to put a legitimate World Series caliber team on the field.
  21. I'm not sure the voters were very good in the earlier days. The writers went by reputation and generic stats like all-star game appearances, home runs, wins, strikeouts for pitchers, overall amount of hits and defensive reputation. Sure, there are loads of players that were put in that don't belong there. Honestly, it doesn't hurt my feelings on whoever they put in there because most "Hall of Fames" and Walls/rings of honor have been watered down. Hell I went to Nationals Park last week for a Holiday lights thing with my granddaughter and family and Frank Robinson is on their ring of honor. He managed two years for them and had a losing record overall. How in the world did that happen? Either way, Baines was the equivalent of a very good hitter, but outside of a few seasons in his prime, I'm not sure anyone ever considered him one of the best players in the league, and even then it was probably by fans of his own team. But Baines was a great guy by all accounts and stuck around a long time so he got the nod. As for McGriff, he should have been in long before Baines since he was a better player overall.
  22. Westburg does have a similar arm as Urias, but Westburg has a little longer arm action and struggles with throws going away from first base making those plays down the line something he won't be very good at often. He is also does not throw all that well on the run.
  23. Say what you want about the Phillies, their owner invests in their team.
  24. Maybe he's Ofelky Peralta's cousin?
