  1. He's safe. Heel hit it. Nothing to overturn.
  2. He's been awful and the team refuses to drop him in the lineup. Having Mountcastle and Odor back to back 4th and 5th is criminal.
  3. How can anyone think this team is a contender when Odor is batting 5th?
  4. Anyone who thinks we're a real contender this year, please see Odor batting 5th on this team. lol
  5. First pitch by the Gray. "97 on that devastating fastball" rolleyes...
  6. Wow, this camera angle and crew is terrible in Texas.
  7. Which is what you want from a leader of the organization when it comes to player moves.
  8. Ok, watched some McDermott, here's what I saw. Raw notes: July 22nd 1st inning FB - 95-96 Ch - 84-86 - Pretty straight CB - 76-80, seems to be more of a roller with a hop, not a fan. Very inconsistent control of pitch. Sl-84-87 - Best, offspeed pitch but inconsistent in depth. Sometimes looks like a cutter. Uses fastball up for swing and miss 3rd inning- 93-95 Overall: Velocity ticked down after the first inning of work. The slider is his most consistent offspeed but still not very consistent. He'll flash a plus slider and probably the pitch he should focus on. Curveball can be loopy at times and hammer at times up to 80 mph. Very inconsistent offering but can get swing and miss. Change is straight change that he can throw for strikes down but not a lot of movement. He's a guy that can probably move fast if you have him focus on being a fastball, slider guy but if they can teach him that split change he could be a real weapon. Command issues with all of his pitches will limit his rise as a starter.
  9. They have more than enough players that can be jettisoned from the 40-man still.
  10. I'm happy for him that he's going to a legitimate contender and that he brought back at least one potential legitimate starting pitching prospect on return. He's a 1st class person and a guy who defied the odds of being an 8th round pick that became an All-Star (even if it was the HR derby). I hope he tears it up for Houston when he's not playing the Orioles.
  11. I'm agreeing with everyone that thinks Stowers should have been the guy over Diaz. Saying that, this trading deadline is not done yet.
  12. I'm not saying clubhouse chemistry is not a thing, but I will tell you this, I've never been in a winning team's clubhouse where it was not a lot of fun and everyone acted like they got along. The only explanation I can come up with for Odor starting at 2B still is they don't think Vavra's defense there is major league quality and no one is ready that could be better. If Westburg was hitting he might give them some thoughts, but he's been cold for awhile. Again, I don't think for a second the team is going to fold up their tents and mope because Mancini was traded. They all know this is a business and they all know Mancini was the guy most likely to be traded. Heck, some guys just got more of a n opportunity to play more so they're psyched.

  14. I think you are putting too much emphasis on "clubhouse leader" when it comes to how the team does. Do you think there is one single guy in that locker room that is not happy for him to be going to a contender like the Astros? Do you think there is anyone that is caught off guard from this when even Mancini said he thought he was playing his last game as an Orioles in Camden Yards? Besides, ask around here and there are guys that will tell you that Odor is the heart and soul of this team and it would implode if he doesn't start. If Elias trades Santander and a couple of BP pieces like Lopez and Tate he's "punting" this season, but as long as he's setting up this team to be good next year and beyond, I'm ok with those deals. This year is a bonus. While I'm enjoying them playing .500 baseball after being terrible for so long, I'm also realistic and looking at a team with Odor in the starting lineup, Nevin and Diaz on the bench, and their top two starters on the IL. Elias is doing the right thing and keeping his eyes set forward beyond 2022.
  15. @Sports Guyhad to find a quiet, secret place where no one could see him after hearing there was a 3-team deal involving the Orioles at the trade deadline.
  16. Let's see it shakeout. I also don't think Diaz will be the main replacement for Mancini.
  17. Elias doesn't want the DH held down by one player. He wants to use it to rotate guys around and to give regulars a day off from the field but keeps their bat in the lineup. Plus, Rutschman needs a place to hit occasionally on a day off.
  18. I think that's more to placate the portion of the fan base that is player based and loves themselves the players vs the production. It's hard for me to imagine a situation where the Orioles would need a one dimensional right-handed DH next year.
  19. Obviously in the perfect world they would be closer, but I'll take the upside of Johnson and have him a few years away over a Zach Peek type in AA/AAA.
  20. Such a douchie thing to say. Saving the $2.5 million has nothing, and I mean nothing to do with this deal.
  21. Did we really "punt" the season by trading a DH with a .750 OPS and 10 home runs? As for Johnson being 25 before he pitches again, see Tyler Wells on how that could turn out? Solomon comes with enough high side that I like this deal. I'm less enthused about Diaz being recalled, but let's see how the rest of this trading deadline works out. I still think Santander is going to go.
  22. He may have just arrived so I get why they are not in the lineup the first day they are recalled.
  23. Diaz has a .525 OPS over his last 30 days covering 77 PAs. They say he's the kind of guy that needs the big stage and bright lights to do well. This is probably his sink or swim moment for his 40-man roster spot. Stowers can not be happy though unless he's coming up soon after another trade. He deserves to be here and the Orioles could use some left-handed pop.
