  1. I'm pretty sure there are archives of old games somewhere. MLB has been slowly building full games on their you tube channel.
  2. I went back and watched his three innings of work. Worked really fast, attacked hitters and when he got behind, he battled back and ended up getting soft contact with two strikes. Did give up a few hard hit liners at people, but a real nice outing for him.
  3. I would take these with huge grains of salt. Cool theory, but not sure framing can be really determined without pitch locations.
  4. I wonder how they could determine framing of catchers without pitch data location?
  5. Actually, the orioles had very good defensive catchers during this span and put a priority of defense over offense. Etchebarren and Dempsey were two key players during their World Series teams because of their plus defense.
  6. Glenn Clark on Pressboxonline had a good piece on "Turgatory". https://pressboxonline.com/2021/03/23/glenn-clark-after-another-early-exit-maryland-basketball-remains-where-it-was-five-years-ago/ I for one would like to see them move on from Turgeon, but I don't see this AD doing so. As long as they make money he's happy.
  7. That's fine, everyone can have an opinion, but I think some of statements were over the top especially about Rutschman's age and level considering COVID lost a year for everyone. Catcher is one of the most important defensive positions on the field because he's the field general and he's involved in every pitch. Saying that, if I had equal talent of players and had to choose between a C and SS, I would choose the SS. Time will tell whether Rutschman was the right choice, but if Abrams or Witt or someone else becomes a better overall player, it certainly won't be the first time the #1 overall pick was not the best player in the draft when it was all said and done.
  8. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ This my friends is what you call a calm factual Hangout smackdown! Well done!
  9. Maybe he can join up with Davis and they can sail away to their island getaway forever!
  10. Anyone who knows me or has met me personally knows I'm not offended in the least bit by cursing, but there's a place for that kind of stuff and this message board is not one of those places. I appreciate you though understanding and abiding by the rules from here on out.
  11. That might've been the reason why some were off put on this thread, good call. Still, it was something worth discussing at the time and thankfully Trey answered the question.
  12. Glad to see Trey hitting for power and looking like his old self. Still this wasn't a "pointless" thread. It was something to keep an eye on with Mancini coming back from what he went through. I think he proved that's its nothing to be worried about. We're all happy.
  13. This is really outstanding. Such a huge step for the future of this organization.
  14. Or does it? This would still allow them to train their "draft picks" in a stable, fruitful environment that should be fantastic for development.
  15. Valdez not exactly fooling the Rays hitters in the 1st.
  16. This kind of stuff is always goofy. I don't know why Hyde was saying something like that. The one thing I liked about Hyde was he's a straight shooter with the press and the fans by proxy. If he's going start saying things like this about Hernandez, then he's quickly going to lose that respect. There is no way in hell Hernandez should make the opening day roster. He looked done before the elbow thing and hasn't pitched competitively since then. Seriously, why don't he tell us they haven't ruled out Davis either. C'mon Hyde, you are better that!
  17. Haha, you really haven't been following spring training very closely this year, have you. I had no idea who he was when the Orioles signed him and invited him to spring training, but I like the stuff from what I've seen in his TV outing as well as his stat tracker info.
  18. Well there are your #2 and #3 starters unless Zimmermann pitches on Wednesday as well. That would mean that it's either Akin or Zimmermann in the rotation to start the year and the other may by the "5th" starter that is not needed until the 7th. They could start in the bullpen and be the first long reliever used if one is needed on opening day, or optioned as long as they can be brought back for the 7th. If they can't because of option rules (I'm not 100% sure when an optioned player can come back at the start of the season without injury) then I imagine one starts in the bullpen as the "10th" reliever. I still can't imagine Zimmermann not starting in the rotation with how he's pitched this spring.
  19. Sceroler will probably be sent back but if not, they can DFA Lakins or Sulser and my guess is they pass through waivers easily. Neither provide length and if you shake a major league organizational tree, ten Susler/Lakins fall out. Good question about the option at the beginning of the season. I'm not 100% sure. Greene could be sent to the alternate site for depth and one of Sulser or Lakins could make it I guess, but I agree, we will see Greene at some point this season one way or the other.
  20. He kept Drew Jackson from the Dodgers on opening day, before sending him back shortly after the season started.
  21. Plus, the pitchers both are starters by experience so can provide length in the bullpen, something this team will desperately need. I'm thinking they are going to keep 14 pitchers which means 9 relievers. Now, they don't realistically need a "5th" starter until April 7th, so they could actually demote Akin or Zimmermann or even send Harvey to the alternate camp until then and keep a 10th reliever. This year is going to be how he can stockpile as many arms as possible. I see the starters being: MEans Kremer Zimmermann Harvey Akin Not needing a 5th starter until the 7th, Akin or Zimmermann could by optioned until than or they could send Harvey there until the 7th, but that's doubtful due to his statue. This is how I see the possibilities in the pen: Locks: (5) Scott Valdez Armstrong Fry Tate Those are going to be the "short" relievers and high leverage guys. Now Valdez can provide length as well, but if he can pitch often, I think he'll be in this mix. The next group are going to be the length guys (4). Jorge Lopez - I guess he could still get a rotation spot but I really see him in this long man role. Wade LeBlanc - Similar to Lopez, I think his best role is in the bullpen Connor Greene - I like Greene's arm, but he could be a guy they stash in the alternate site until he's needed, but I think he would do well Tyler Wells - I think he's shown enough promise and ability to miss bats to be used in the pen. That's nine right there. If they can keep ten until the 7th, I bet they keep Cole Sulser around in the beginning because he has options and can easily be sent back. Lakins could be an option here as well but Sulser has been better though Lakins is younger. Both are AAAA relievers who can be stashed as relief depth at the alternate site and AAA once it starts up. Now, if they want to keep Sceroler, they could in that 10th spot in the beginning but someone has to go when the 5th starter is added on the 7th. Greene, Tate, Scott, and Fry have options under this scenario or they could give back one the Rule 5 guys. Scott is going nowhere so the other three could be sent down if needed. One note is the Orioles have given Eric Hanhold a lot of opportunities and although his ERA doesn't show it, he's pitched well at times. He's going to AAA/alternate site depth as well though since I don't see the Orioles clearly roster space for him assuming Harvey, LeBlanc and Greene need to be added. Obviously waiver wire claims can affect this as well. So clear as mud, right?
  22. lol, an auction though would be more fun.
  23. I don't think you are right, but I guess we'll see how many innings Valdez goes tomorrow. If he stretches out to 4 or 5 innings, then you may be onto something.
  24. Huh? Why would you think tomorrow is an auction for the the starter's job when Valdez is starting and Hyde said it's a bullpen game? On top of it, I just showed how things are lining up and tomorrow lines up with an offday ten days from then.
