  1. Holmes over Kimbrel is ridiculous. Other than being a Yankee, Holmes has no case to be over Kimbrel.
  2. Ridiculously wrong take. So a few people "panic" and it's the entire board? Characterizing the entire board as anything other than passionate Orioles fan is not a great way to come into a community. You have less than 100 posts and you think it's a good idea to attack the intelligence of the entire board?
  3. Povich should be fresh after only throwing 41 terrible pitches yesterday so he'll most likely get the start. There is no true alternative in AAA to Povich since the next guy in line is McDermott and he got one out yesterday in his start against the Durham Bulls. Bad starts happen. Let's see what Povich is made up of by seeing hiw he bounces back fro that disastrous start. Hopefully after the All-Star break Elias will make a move for a true impact starter and reliever.
  4. I just thought I'd throw my two cents in here and a little moderating. First, Roy is Roy. He's here as a fan and to give his take. Most of the stuff I read from him reminds me of the great quote from Terrance Mann in Field of Dreams, "I wish I had your passion, (Roy)... Misdirected though it might be, it is still a passion." What is misdirected even more is when people attack Roy for anything other than his opinion. Feel free to disagree with Roy. Feel free to think Roy is off base in his reactions or posts, but do not make it personal. Roy is a friend of mine and this site, and while I may not always (or rarely) agree with his harbingers of disaster, he has every right to express his opinions. What he doesn't need is someone questioning his writing style or grammar or saying they expect more. That's a bunch of personal BS that I don't appreciate. One of the moderators here gave someone a few days break because they personally attacked him. I support that and not just because he's Roy Firestone, but because he's one of us here. He's a long time passionate Orioles fan and that's all he wants to be here so let's not start talking about his journalistic integrity or writing style. Again, feel free to disagree with Roy. Heck, I completely disagree with this take besides the fact that we all know that this team needs to add at least one starter and one or two impact bullpen arms. But as it was stated by a few on here already, this team is on pace to win well over 100 games despite losing 4 out of their 5 projected starters at some point, and losing 3 starters for the year. The Orioles are not going to win every game. A 100 win team is going lose 62 games a year. The world is not going to end over one game. Whether the teams loses by 1 run or 11, it counts as one game and today they start 0-0 at the beginning of the game.
  5. Nice job digging into some peripheral prospects. I want to see Trimble in AA but since he's been mostly held back by injuries, he's worth keeping an eye on still. I've liked some things I've seen from him since he's been back, but still not a lot of pop in that bat. Young doesn't impress me in the field or at the plate. Way too many holes in his swing and he's been really unimpressive tool wise in the field. I expected more from a guy who got that much of a bonus. I only watched a little bit of Rojas so will need to check out a full start to evaluate the stuff. I know before the injuries there wasn't a ton of velocity but good breaking stuff. Don't know anything about the other guy other than the stats.
  6. Poor Ryan McKenna, after going hitless in his 6 PAAs with the Giants then slashing .174/.310/.217/.528 in 28 PAs in AAA for them, they sent him to AA where he looks pretty lost against Baysox pitching. He was leading off in last night's game and struck out looking from a 94 MPH Peter Van Loon fastball and they showed how walking back to the dugout and he looked like a man defeated. No sweat ban, no swagger, just looking like a guy who may be realizing his career is about over. He's only 27 so never say never, but the poor guy looked defeated last night.
  7. It's a really good question. No one has really claimed that next level spot and Etzel while good, may not offer the upside that you'd want in a #5.
  8. Saw this on Facebook and thought it was funny.
  9. I actually blame ESPN. Ever since they gave him those horrid cleats he's be in a slump. CHANGE THE CLEATS BACK!!!!!!
  10. That's hilarious. I've seen some post on the Facebook sight asking what's wrong with Gunnar. It absolutely amazes me that as amazing as Gunnar is, that if he goes into a little slump some people will start "wondering what's wrong with him." Heaney just had his number and Kirby and Gilbert are pretty good starters. We all hope he gets out of it soon, but every player slumps.
  11. I'd like to say that "defender" commercial has the most annoying music of any commercial on MASN this year, and that includes the "take me out to the ballgame" monotony of the fan duels commercials.
  12. Definitively not a fan of 1010 PM EST starts!
  13. I won't root against the young man. I don't know if he has improved his defense, but his lack of real position hurt his prospect status overall. Saying that, an .819 OPS in AAA doesn't scream out to me with the way offense has been with the robo umps.
  14. Yeah, I was not happy that he was the arm they sent, but Tampa knew what they were doing when they cherry picked him out of the options that they were probably getting. Saying that, it took him awhile and he never quite made it with Tampa, so sometimes guys just take a while. I do think it's cool if you go back there are guys I liked out of that draft including 11th rounder Zach Muckenhirn who at least ended up with a cup of coffee in the majors.
  15. Alemyda feel fell from 21 to 26 BTW. Really like Forrett's improvement on the changeup and the fact that he's hitting 95 in the 5th inning tells me he's holing velocity. He's younger than Baumeister so I'm bumping him for now over him. I'm not huge fan of Rivera's stuff and the fact that they don't let him exceed 40 pitches is a concern for me. His off-speed and breaking balls are inconsistent and while they've promoted him very quickly, nothing jumps out as me as a major league swing and miss pitch. So we have a guy who the Orioles don't think can start, and who doesn't miss bats at great rates against A-ball hitters. He has hit mid 90s this year, but I still just don't see it. He's worth following though as he's pretty skinny, and that he could lead to another velocity bump.
  16. Weird that you would notice.
  17. The way Burnes has pitched, it's been a win-win. You have to give up something to get something.
  18. Nice to see Myers finally make it. It was a long road with some bumps and bruises, but its good to see a guy I liked back when he was 18 in Aberdeen finally fulfill his promise.
  19. This is an AI generated fake. Of course no professional would be this bad nor would a baseball fan call a home run a 4-base hit.
  20. He was -1 OAA in 229 chances last year and he's -5 OAA in 82 chances this year. Defensive Runs saved (DRS) had him at 3 last year and -4 this year. His FRV has gone from 0 to -4. Here's his OAA in detail. That's a pretty deep fall off in my opinion. I think these numbers are why they hesitant to move Westburg over full time to 2B and bring up Mayo. They may be concerned that Mayo will be worse than Westburg at 3B and Westburg is certainly worse than Mateo at 2B defensively. So while the team certainly upgrades offensively with Mayo in the lineup, Elias may be hesitant to downgrade defensively at two positions. Now maybe with everyday reps Westburg does better? Maybe Mayo will be just as good or even better than Westburg at 3B? I mean, Mayo has a much better arm than Westburg just more erratic. It's an interesting dilemma for Elias/Hyde to figure out what's best for the team. Without an injury, or Mateo going into a deep slump at the plate, I don't know if they are willing to allow their defense at two positions be at risk for decline.
  21. Updated through July 1st.
  22. Good enough my friend. We move on!
