  1. Rutgers on a 15-4 run and Maryland can't hit water if it fell out of a boat, even from two feet away from the basket. Make that a 17-4 run before the Genius calls a timeout to stop his disorganized and clueless "top ten" team. You can set your watch to a Turgeon team putting up a clunker when they get into the top ten of the rankings.
  2. This is classic Terps trap game after moving into the Top ten again and facing Rutgers. So far it's been up and down with the Terps really struggling when Stix has been out of the game. Marial brought nothing!
  3. Gotta imagine Maybin gets a major league contract from a much better team. He's a solid 4th outfielder.
  4. Losses, losses will be the key stats and there will be a lots of them once again! it will be hard for the team to give up homers like they did last year, but it's not like you look at this year's staff and go, "Yep, I see the improvement."
  5. Givens has certainly performed better as a high leverage guy prior to the 9th inning than as a pure closer over his career. Brad Brach was similar during his heyday.
  6. Right on the mark. Saying that, the only issue defensively is that Mullins' arm is so weak that it deflates his plus defensive abilities to go get the ball. Obviously Mullins ha a lost year last year, but there is still some pop in the bat, he's a hard, willing learner, has the desire to get better, and has 75 level speed. He was rushed to the majors so I think it's unfair to totally dismiss him completely. But as you said, if he struggles again offensively and can't make the adjustments then his time on the 40-an could be coming to the end next year.
  7. I wish I had spin rates on his fastball and curveball then I'd feel even better about liking Klime, but he is one of my sleeper candidates this year no doubt.
  8. You can pretty much say this about every "battle" this year, but we gotta talk about something! IF, and this remains a huge IF since it seems like Elias is planning on or is forced to ride out Davis' contract (perhaps in the hopes he get hurts or retires to save any semblance of his reputation left), Davis is released, then yes, he has just as much chance of starting in LF as an any current option of Santander is in RF and Hays in CF. I actually think Williams is a decent option as a 4th outfielder if he's able to hit effectively when not playing regularly because of his defensive versatility.
  9. I'd love to see Given's number on temperature above and 60 degree and below. From Florida and seems to really struggle in colder weather or maybe he's just a slow starter.
  10. I'd like to see that, but based on Elias' comments it seems he's leaning towards being conservative with Henderson and Hernaiz. If neither can change his mind in spring training, then I think Delmarva will see Ortiz at SS and Welk at 3B with Encarnacion moving to Frederick despite his lack of success last year at Delmarva. Encarnacion might be a guy that hits a bit better when pitches re around the plate more at the upper levels, but he really doesn't have much of a plan at the plate. Curran to me is an org guy who will DH and play a little 1B at either Delmarva or Frederick depending where there is a spot on the roster. He's a bubble guy that could be released as well this spring. I'd really love to see a Henderson (3B), Hernaiz (SS), Ortiz (2B) infield at Delmarva next year but both Henderson and especially Hernaiz would be young for the league. I really wish the New York Penn League would be a full season league that would be 2nd year high school draftee/young international league player heavy league early on and then would convert to a college league after the draft.
  11. Does this seem questionable to people: Player A from 31-34 years old .297 .364 .542 .906 Player A from 35-38 years old .298 .395 .593 .988 How many players become a better hitter from 35-38 years old playing in the same home stadium (Note: fences were brought in 10 feet in power alleys during the second span)?
  12. From what I've seen and read of him he rates above them for me. Probably close to Tate though.
  13. Wilkerson was a fun guy to have on a bad team, but he really is a below average major leaguer overall. He'll pass through waivers and still have a chance to compete for the 26th spot.
  14. I think you are looking at the wrong person or stats. Wiggens shot 41.2% from 3pt LAST year, 32.2% this year. 86.7% from the line LAST year, 75.5% this year.
  15. I like this pickup. Just looking at his statcast numbers he's got above average spin rate on his fastball and plus spin on his curveball. Needs to ditch that cutter though that can hit around. Wasn't hit that badly in his debut and looks like a serviceable middle relief arm at worse. Defiantly better than some current bullpen options. If Orioles can make him a fastball, curveball guy they could have a solid 6th-7th inning guy.
  16. I'm hopeful after this game that the team is starting to gel a little. I'm not enthused over the lack of depth, especially inside as Turgeon has all but buried Marial. I just hope Stix and Cowan have something left by tourney time!
  17. Agreed all around. Great, fun game to watch start to finish!
  18. This was probably the most complete game I've seen the team play. Really good to see them putting things together. Cowan was just amazing tonight. He's doing what seniors do this time of year!
  19. Huge game by Cowan tonight but really, the whole team played well throughout. Played some real smart basketball in the second half and din't try to push things when up.
  20. Such a great senior game by Cowan!
  21. The team really has played well so far outside of Wiggins' outside shot!
  22. Yeah, he's so athletic, but his outside shot has really fallen off with the line getting pushed back. He should drive more and become more of a DJ Strawberry slasher!
  23. Smith has been huge the last few minutes, and Ayala with the big 3!
  24. Man Wiggins has been struggling from 3 tonight..
