After getting promoted back to AAA in late July, Hanhold pitched to a 2.57 ERA over 14 IP with 13Ks and held batters to a .245/.344/.377/.722 slash. There's a reason why he passed through waivers and is here as a NRI though. I don't think he's got a spot in the bullpen, but if he pitches well he has the potential to open some eyes and possibly win a spot.

Not sure I understand this signing. He's a soft tossing 35-year old lefty who was in the bottom 10% of the league in xBA and xSLG. Similiar to Means, his best pitch is a changeup and last year he went to a cutter over his sinker more times than not. The cutter got hit pretty hard, but so did his sinker so maybe they will scrap both and have him go to a pure four seamer which had a little bit of success last year when up in the zone, even though it has low spin rate. https://sporty-clips.mlb.com/46dacf61-a1a4-465a-91c0-740f35af715f.mp4 Either way, I realize there is not a lot of good competition for starter innings, but not sure where the upside is here because the chance of a soft tossing lefty who had a penchant of giving up home runs is going to regain any kind of trade value by the trading deadline is slim. Guess best case scenario he's able to eat some inning and somehow get on a run that we can move him for a Cashner like return.

I like Williams all-around game better than Smith Jr. though Smith Jr. may be the better pure hitter. Williams' defensive versatility and speed makes him a better extra outfielder than Smith Jr. in my opinion.

I don't know. What if we resigned him, have him pitch some good baseball for two months then trade him for two more DSL players.

It would be disappointing if they weren't able to make a full season club, but they were both pretty young. I know there is a new thought that it's more important to be in camp environment, but I still believe the best development occurs with getting PAs. It won't be the worse things in a world of course, but the best high school prospects typically are sent to full season clubs nowadays. I'd definitely be excited if both of them were able to make the Delmarva team out of spring but with Ortiz and Welk probably heading there, maybe they just don't see enough PAs and with them being both still 18 years old at the start of the season, they may just think the jump is too big.

I was waiting to see how long it was going to take for someone to post this. Seems like a fun character to follow.

BA hasn't been on the edge of prospect analysis for a long time now. I wouldn't be concerned with Mountcastle or Hays not being on the list.

It's a real long shot, but but it's better then him ever seeing the big leagues as a batter.

I think he came over for a couple of games when they needed some players, but he wasn't on an official invite. If it were me, I'd put him on the mound and see if he can be converted to a pitcher. He has a pretty special arm.

Can't tell if serious or this was some kind of slipped in joke to see if we were paying attention. I could see McCoy getting an invite but they very well may just bring him over when needed. I think Wells may get an invite as well.

I always thought the person who can get Willis Otanez to write a book about his baseball life would have a best seller. Can you only imagine the stories this guy has with as many places that he's played? He may have one of the most fascinating baseball careers of all time.

At worse, this is an interesting story to follow this spring. He's pitched very well in a hitter friendly league so why not? He'll be 35-years old on opening day so I imagine he either makes the team or is let go. Hey, I'll be rooting for the guy!

Look Bruce, you are soft. You've always been soft. You are the kind of person that hates anything that isn't rosy and you complain worse than a teenager. I'm very consistent on my feelings of Turgeon and yes, I thought it was a good job by the Purdue coach to called a timeout to break momentum, something Turgeon doesn't do very often during games and usually when he does it's about six points too late. Now that might hurt your feelings, but that's the way I see it. I could really care less if it hurts your feelings or not but I won't get trolled on my own board. So either buck up and move on.

They are off to very nice start no doubt. It really is weird how home teams have been so good and road teams have been so poor this year in conference. Nice to see the Terps playing well on both sides of the court so far.
