  1. Burnes has really only made a couple of bad pitches but is probably going to pitch into the 7th. Not the worse start. If the Orioles had scored 11 runs we'd be all happy with his start. This team though does need pitching though. Especially in the bullpen where there are not a lot of guys that I feel totally confident in and those that we did will get used so much they'll implode like Webb and Tate did yesterday.
  2. Who owes who? Huh, what? I think Melanie was trying to make a point and got lost.
  3. Please don't generalize the board during a game thread. This is the reactionary part of the board. Sure, it's going to get negative when the team does not do well. But either way, I'm pretty sure the vast majority of folks here know the Orioles are a great team hitting a good team when they're getting hot. It happens. The Orioles will be fine.
  4. I agree, and he should have. But most pitchers are going to go with what the catcher calls. Clearly they felt that's the pitch to get him out on but seven straight anything requires the pitcher to have great command. Burnes does not today.
  5. I don't really think there is any cause and effect from the Yankees series. The Orioles scored 11 runs yesterday. They should have won. Today Blanco is pitching well and Burnes is not. Houston is a good team that was due to get hot. They certainly seem like they've gotten hot the last game and half against us so far. It's baseball. Teams get hot and cold, and the Orioles have been remarkably consistently good, so it seems weird to see them lose (assuming they lose this game) two in a row. The Orioles have now allowed 18 runs in what, 14 innings? Not going to win many with that pitching.
  6. We're just catching the Astros as they're getting hot.
  7. What a horrible pitch call by Rutschman. 7 straight cutters? Gee, wonder if the hitter will be expecting one if the pitcher misses, it's going to get crushed. CHANGE FREAKIN' speeds and locations.
  8. Hey Colton, you are not getting fastballs until can start showing the ability to hit offspeed. He should be sitting offspeed away and looking to go the other way until they have to adjust.
  9. Baseball... Houston is a good team that started off very poorly. They were going to get hot at some point. Unfortunately it appears they are getting hot against us.
  10. Looks like we're catching Houston getting white hot with the bats.
  11. He sounds like a Children's show Dog super hero!
  12. I'm sure they will do some quick tests since he was kind of hit in the side of the helmet down to his jaw.
  13. Yeah, if you guys could stop making diving catches, that would be good!
  14. Right in Mountcastle's happy zone.
  15. I know sometimes you guys forget about my top 75, but here is my writeup from last year on Mejia. He's very young still, but his plate discipline has been off the charts this year. No game power so far, so we have to see how that holds up when the pitchers will be able to challenge him more. 52. Adriander Mejia – C (DSL): The youngest player in the Orioles system this year, the 16-year old catcher made a nice debut on both at the plate and behind the dish. The right-handed hitter held his own against the older competition putting up a .277/.362/.355/.716 slash line in 178 PAs. He squares the ball up well and the belief is when he gets stronger the bat will really play. Some scouts really liked him down there and had him pegged as one of the best prospects on the Orioles DSL team. A hard worker, defensively he threw out 45% of the runners attempting to steal and four passed balls in 30 games.
  16. We don't bring quotes from the game threads into the main board. The game threads are for the initial reactions, many of which are irrational. Everyone in the game threads knows this. The game threads are supposed to be the place where people can just react in the moment and not have them brought over into the main board like those are your rational thoughts after having time to cool down.
  17. What? I've never said those things, even in the game threads. Which by the way, YOU know we don't bring game thread stuff into the rest of the board. What's wrong with you?
  18. There's a difference between a reaction in a game thread and your take about him having some kind of emotional problems because he potentially mean mugged an umpire after striking out. And I'm also pretty sure the worse thing I've ever said in a game thread about him was something like, "That was a rare poor PA". So no, I never have ever made him out to be "garbage."
  19. WHO CARES???????????????????????? Gunnar is 22-years old. He's shown emotions on the field his entire career from throwing helmets down to jawwing at ump on occasion. He's a competitor playing at the highest level and has probably unbelievable expectations for himself. Occasionally he might show emotion in the wrong way. So what? He's not out of control, he's not throwing bats at opponents, and he just showed his composure after getting drilled by the Yankees. You are trying to build a wart for some reason. Maybe just enjoy our generational talent?
  20. 100%. this ridiculousness by a few crankies around here is absolutely bonkers when it comes to Gunnar. He's one of, if not the best player in the game right now. And yes, he's still going to fail more than have success and yes, sometimes he's going to get frustrated, whether it with himself or the ump. Who cares? The fact that Gunnar actually have posting busting on him just goes to show, you can never satisfy everyone. I mean, if we're in a game thread and you want to complain about a bad PA, then sure, but really, we're talking about whether or not Gunnar is mad at the umpires and think he has a flaw in his strike zone judgement?
  21. How do you model a 19-year old in the FCL? Just seems weird. I mean he's having a nice season and the stats are good, but I don't know how much you can model off FCL stats. I wonder if he has statcast info? Seems more and more people are getting people to give it to them. They really need to make it public.
  22. Terrible angle on the cameras for that game, but those are the top two pitching prospects on that team. Looking forward to getting better looks at them with better camera angles.
  23. What does he mean? As major leaguers? For this season? I have a hard time believing these are the only four guys that project out to 20/20 in the major leagues in the entire minor leagues. Is he talking in the FCL?
  24. It is wrong and the statistics prove it out. Saying that, if the Yankees "brass" is saying that, then they are just mad because they just got beat 2 out 3 at home including a beat down yesterday. Plus, if your batter hang over the plate or stand on the plate, expect them to get hit more because pitchers can't give him ad pitch away.
  25. I don't know what he said, but the only thing Heyman is good for is giving us whatever hype that Boras wants out there. He's nothing more than a Boros PR guy.
