  1. I'm guessing it's Touki - don't see the Braves trading Riley. They've got so many more pitchers than hitters in the minors.
  2. You know you're team is having problems when someone re-opens this thread from last year for a 30 year old who's basically done nothing in the majors.
  3. When Harold's wrong, he tends to double down on it. You can't pander to the least knowledgable fans - which is effectively what he suggested we should have done, and I commend the O's for not listening to pundits like Reynolds.
  4. Can't help but think in the back of my mind - with all those XBH's coming out of nowhere - Is there an injury? Part of that is paranoia, but it's easy to be paranoid as an O's fan. In reality, I thought it was far too ambitious to consider him likely to be in the 2019 rotation, so as long as he looks reasonably good in his next start, nothing's really changed in my view.
  5. I want to see Lowther and Wells as teammates - to make sure they're not the same person. Actually, I expect Lowther to pass Wells by next year.
  6. I suppose Christian Colon (released by the Braves organization today) would have been a more interesting pickup. Remember back in the Manny draft of 2010? Colon was the 4th pick in that draft and the second rated SS behind Manny. I don't think anyone had him above Manny, but he was quite highly touted. He did ok in the minors, but he had typical inflated PCL stats.
  7. Grats to Rickard! I hope he continues to play well.
  8. Sorry, VERY EASILY. I'm very hopeful about Harvey, and if he didn't miss a couple of seasons, you could make a legitimate case for him against Riley.
  9. And if pigs could fly, there could be flying pigs. Put it this way - If Riley was in the O's organization, he would EASILY be the O's top prospect.
  10. In yesterday's Norfolk game, some might have noticed a 21 year old Gwinnett 3rd baseman named Austin Riley hitting 3 homers and knocking in 8 runs. If you get the urge to say the O's should get him in a Machado trade, forget about it. The O's waited too long. We'll get to see Riley playing in the postseason for many years to come in Atlanta - perhaps against whatever team Manny signs with.
  11. This is a very minor move - It doesn't hurt to give a 24 year old 3Bman with some power in AAA to see if he can improve. It's not like the O's have a tremendous 40 man roster. They have a bunch of infielders injured, so this move makes some sense. I mean... there probably weren't any all-star infielders available on the waiver wire.
  12. It's kinda convenient that Bautista is coming abourd today, because Atl's best 3rd baseman - Camargo - is likely playing SS, because Dansby Swanson is out with a sore wrist. But when Swanson returns, I think it'll be very foolish if the Braves put Camargo on the bench.
  13. Walked, singled, doubled, and homered, didn't strike out. His OPS is now up to .958. His career high OPS was .897 in 2008. Obviously this is unsustainable and the season is very young, but this is a fun story - even moreso than Flaherty's.
  14. Those bleeps stole my thought! He's 18 short of the 1,000 career runs milestone. I guess when you've been around as long as he has and been as durable and good as he's been, there's always some milestone coming up around the corner. And he grew up in Georgia - probably has family there that get to see his accomplishments - that's a great situation he's created and thrived in.
  15. I'm guessing he'll want to continue with the Braves. Even though they have lots of prospects, they only have one real good OF prospect - Christian Pache - who's hitting ability is questionable - and who's value is in playing CF. And the Braves will have a ton of money to spend next year - not that I think Nick will command a whole lot at his age and with his lack of HR power for a RFer. Of course, it depends on how he finishes the season, but I'd guess 2/15 would be his cost right now.
  16. Wow, if Nick keeps this up, maybe he will reach 3,000 career hits. What stuck out to me was his 19 walks vs 12 K's through 29 games. Last year, in 160 games he had 76 W's and 110 K's. Other than Joe Mauer, nobody has his kind of W/K ratio unless they're pitched around a lot (Bryce Harper).
  17. It's not that they should have kept Nick. It's that they should have found better players to play RF. Hopefully, Hays will be that guy later this season.
  18. Speaking of ComargO and the BravOs, Braves are excited about actually playing well to start the season, have money, and could be interested in Manny as a 3rd baseman. Comargo and a pitching prospect (Braves have tons) probably makes sense. Comargo's another player who can play SS or 3rd base. Because of the presence of Albies and Swanson, nobody paid much attention to Comargo, but I think he's a legit talented young infielder who should be starting in the majors.
  19. Comargo gets no respect, but he's the guy who should be playing every day. He did very well last year as a rookie, and he's showing he's likely gong to do better this year.
  20. Methinks it's just possible that there's a helluva big difference between AAA and MLB. Rickard is real good at one and not so good at the other. He ain't an answer for Baltimore.
