This seems to show how much the defense is helping? pitching to contact more and trusting the guys in the field. We are about middle of the pack in runs allowed, 16th. Doesn’t hurt that the defense is a double play machine, 2nd in baseball.

Just a reminder that Mateo is also still among the leaders in stolen bases as well. 2nd in MLB I believe.

Seems like the pitchers are attacking the hitters more. I’m sure we could dig up a stat to prove they are throwing more strikes, etc. Whether or not it has anything to do with the park dimension change is debatable (and likely difficult to prove) but it definitely seems like they are going after hitters more now. Edit: Think I remember both Ben and Jim mentioning back in January that the pitchers would likely change their approach due to the new dims.

This team has been plagued by terrible pitching for years. At he end of the day if this attracts better pitching and helps our current pitching I’m all for it. I’m indifferent on the way it looks but get that it takes away from the intimacy of the park. You could be in the outfield seats but still be close to the action. It does take away some good seating no doubt about it.
