Oddly enough, I'll go into the offseason thinking that the O's need to either sign or trade prospects for a #2-3 starter, a back end reliever, and a big bat. That's essentially the same thing I thought last year. The difference is that IMO "liftoff" has already happened.

Bradish gave up 7H and 1BB on 84 pitches in 4.2 innings. The bullpen had to cover 4.1 innings. That wasn't the type of performance I was expecting Bradish to provide, but I suppose it wasn't the turd GRod laid on the mound.

Sounds like Damage control from Hyde. The best follow up question should have been "So you believed 1.1 IP in the AAA Championship was the best gauge of his ability to perform, and not his 6.75 ERA in the minors?

I assumed that Bradish and GRod would have given much better performances. And that Means was going to be available. If only they had pitched like they pitched in September

The Rangers picked up Jordan Montgomery, Max Scherzer (injured) and Aroldis Chapman. The Orioles acquired Flaherty and Fuji , and hoped John Means (injured) would be like a trade acquisition. Scherzer and Means are basically a wash. Would you rather have picked up for Montgomery/Chapman or Flaherty/Fuji?

GRod laid a big turd on the field. Baker walked 3 batters and only retired 1 batter. Webb gave up a grand slam on a meatball. And Mountcastle is responsible for a potential 1-run difference?

Not quite! But to say it's all about Mountcastle just seems odd when there has been so much underperformance in this game.

It's baseball right? I felt so frustrated yesterday after the game. But when I saw that the Dodgers and Braves lost I collected myself and realized that even the best offenses get shut down every now and then. Sometimes pitching just performs better.

This would make sense for keeping games from being frigid in November. Just imagine a World Series of the Cubs vs the Twins, neither of which has a retractable roof on their ballpark. Brrrr... But shortening the season to 154 games has financial implications that would need to be addressed. 8 fewer games means lost ticket sales, advertising revenue, lost vendor concessions. Not a straightforward problem for all of the stakeholders.

Or use the ump cam on replays. It's annoying as hell.
