If the Sacramento A's need a second baseman I am fine with this.

Only played with the O's for half a season, but a big part of their history. Holtzman was traded from the A's to the O's, along with Reggie, for Baylor and Mike Torrez in April, 1976. Fun fact: I saw Reggie's first game in an O's uniform on May 2, 1976. It was the second game of a double header, coincidentally against his former club - the A's. I don't remember much about Holtzman other than he complained about salary his entire time with the Orioles. Free agency was set to begin after the '76 season and a lot of guys were looking forward to getting paid. In August he was a big piece of the the trade with the Yankees that brought us Dempsey, McGregor, Tippy, Rudy May and Dave Pagan. In 1977, they traded Rudy May and two no names to Montreal for Gary Roenicke, Joe Kerrigan, and Don Stanhouse. So, Holztman played a huge role in Orioles history. I remember my brother telling me how good Holtzman was when we got him. It just didn't work out for him in Baltimore, as he just didn't want to be here. As such, I always had a negative view of him. I like the new guy. No jokes. No inane stories. He just described the action and I had no trouble following. I like Kevin Brown too. When everyone is making wise cracks that is when it is too much.

Bring up Kjerstad who looked good in his call up last year. Bring Holliday along slowly since he is struggling. Keep one of Mateo/Urias and unload the other. Hays can be the fourth outfielder for now. This team needs Earl Weaver. As most of you know, Earl was a master at platooning the right guys. See where we are at the trading deadline this year. Should be interesting.

Staying married a long time is hard no matter the age you start. Holliday may be the most mature kid ever, but in the long run it may not be up to him. Ask Tom Brady. Ask Cal. I wish the young couple the very best. With all the money he is going to make in his lifetime though, getting married now is possibly one of the dumbest decisions he ever made. He just gave away half of his earnings. Hope it all works out.

Did you people actually watch the Burnes interview on Foul Territory? The "they" comment was in reference to the AAA team. They asked him if the O's club house was aware of what Norfolk is doing down there and do the O's check them out. He replied, "We've been seeing it. The guys in our club house have played with a lot of those guys. " He then mentions all the guys mashing for Norfolk by name. He calls Stowers, "Stowser"; but gets everyone else's name right. He then goes on to say how tough it is for the AAA guys, "The lineup that we have can produce 10 runs on any given night is pretty special and the depth that this organization has is kind of scary for years to come." Regarding Holliday, he mentions he told Jackson to stay away from him because of all the cameras and hype. He said he would talk to Jackson when the hype dies down to ensure he is comfortable. Honestly, I view that as veteran leadership. Nothing Burnes said was douchie in any way.

Dang, I loved Jim Rice when I was a kid. Sometimes it's best not to hear our heroes speak. I've listened to that Red Sox crew before. They are an arrogant bunch. Yesterday, their radio guys mentioned Holliday's debut calling it obvious service time manipulation. Whatever losers.

This is what I have too. I also have Apple TV, Max, Netflix, Amazon Prime and NFL+ in season. That's all I need. Unfortunately, I am in-market and can't watch the O's live. I tried using Nord VPN on my computer, but MLB.tv would not stream any live games while connected. I don't have time to watch live baseball anyway. Listened to the audio while I was working and watch the condensed game on MLB.tv while having dinner.

Shocking. I remember when the bridge was built in the late 1970's. Luckily they were able to stop traffic in both directions prior to the accident. Only 6 people missing, although horrific, is incredible.

I like what Jake Peavy said on MLB network. He talk about how invaluable it is for the rest of the staff to be able to learn from Burnes. Compared it to his time with the Braves learning from Greg Maddux. If any of the current guys can learn that cutter from Burnes, watch out. Great trade for both clubs. Ortiz is going to be 26 by the end of the season. His time is now. If the Brewers unlock something in Hall they win too.

Anyone know the over/under on how soon John Angelos sues Rubenstein? I say 3 months.

I expect Cal to have the same input as Tom Clancy and Pam Shriver under Angelos' ownership tenure.

You lose cred by including Texas in your rant. The only reason they are included is because the Rangers spent like crazy and it worked out for them. Other teams have tried the same approach (Padres, Phillies, Mets) and it didn't quite work. It all depends on ownership. Even the O's in 90's and Nats during their run spent near the top. Also, in the last 10 years there have been 9 different champions. I think MLB is quite happy with that.

Makes you wonder if the O's demise in the late 80's could have been avoided by keeping Peters at the helm. Probably not, given the free hand he was given in Cleveland; but man, he sure did take a lot of front office talent with him. I would have loved to have seen John Hart follow Peters as Baltimore's GM.

Redzone is included in NFL+ which costs $16 per month. With NFL+ you also get NFL Network and live local games that air in your area on any channel. So, you get ESPN's MNF game without having ESPN. NBC's SNF without having NBC, etc.. You also can watch any game via replay 90 minutes after it finishes. That is how I watched the Colts/Ravens game this year as it wasn't shown in my local area. They do a pretty good job on NFL.com of blocking the scores if you choose that as an option. The only downside is I have to watch live games on my tablet. They don't show live games on the NFL app through my TV due to some contractual reasons. This is how I NFL.

Those complaining about the unfairness of division winners getting knocked out early won't be complaining when the O's are a wild card team next year. My idea for a solution is a little bit different. To qualify for the playoffs a team must win 90 games. All teams that win 90 games are in. Get rid of "leagues" and just combine them in a tournament. This year 8 teams would have qualified. In 1982, only 5 make it. Figure out a format based on the number of teams and roll with it.

I wouldn't. They have to win all three regardless. I'd rather give Bradish his greatest chance and put pressure on Texas in a game five. Now, if Grod pitched well in his outing I would have used both Bradish in game four and Grayson in game five. Unfortunately, Grayson can't be trusted in such a role this year.

O's haven't been swept all season. Just win tonight. Then win another. Do that and then they get a one game playoff at home with their ace on the mound.
