  1. I’m away from home and have only followed the game online. Why did Kremer get pulled after 5 innings of 2 hit ball when he was only at 86 pitches? Not criticizing - just curious.
  2. He was getting squeezed on a few calls in the 4th and was visibly upset at the ump after one of the walks. Holy came out and spoke to him but he then seemed more rattled on the infield hit (a play he could have made). I think Hyde saw him unraveling and decided to pull the plug.
  3. I thought Hall looked very confident last night on the mound. He just pitched with determination vs. the previous times when I felt he had trepidation. He was going right after guys last night.
  4. If I had asked you before last night, “who could we absolutely not lose to make a deep postseason run?”, who would you have chosen? I think Adley (with his bat, glove, and control of the game would have been mine. Maybe Gunnar second.
  5. Agree. Sad but teams are resilient. I think Felix is beloved for his dominance with his 100+ fastball and incredible (when on) splitter. He can strikeout anyone. That said, someone else will step up. Might not have the strikeout dominance but we’ll be okay.
  6. Not sure if this is a joke, but would not be in favor of this given his return from being out 12 months+ and his pitching style. Not a big strikeout guy and tends to give up hits.
  7. Would Hyde consider a closer by committee? Unfortunately you can’t do this based on matchups as much given the 3 batter minimum rule. I like Cano in his current role and would hesitate to change that.
  8. Journeyman is the wrong word. He spent 9 years in the minors before hitting the big leagues which is a long time. That said, he did start at a young age but his rookie year, he was age 27 which is older than most.
  9. I am no doctor and I know we’ll find out soon enough, but I mentioned how he was wiggling his fingers after the pitch. If you watch the video you can clearly see it. One possibility: Cubital Tunnel Syndrome/ Ulnar Nerve Subluxation Subluxation or compression of this nerve may lead to numbness and tingling in the small finger and outer half of the ring finger. This may occur at night when one sleeps on their arm with the elbow flexed or may occur with activities such as pitching. Subluxation is when the nerve slips part way out of its grove. This can cause a popping sensation on the inner part of the elbow. Subluxation is common and most times does not cause a problem.
  10. I hate this! Not just for the Orioles but also for Bautista. He was a journeyman before coming to Baltimore and then became the best closer in baseball. He has not yet cashed in on his success and I feel awful for him. The last few days, it’s been about Ohtani potentially losing $100M on his next contract but likely still getting $400M! Bautista is making the league minimum and may have to prove himself all over. Very hard to come back from surgery (if that’s what it is) and still throw 100+ with a biting splitter. Sucks. The Orioles - while this will impact them, we still have some dominant pieces in the pen. I’ve been cold on Fuji and he needs to step up. Maybe Wells can move back into a closer role with DL Hall helping in late innings. I think we’ll be fine but do worry about late inning playoff games. Hoping for the best with Felix. Maybe it’s strain. I just don’t like how he was wiggling his fingers on the right hand after he threw the pitch. It was like he lost feeling in them or something.
  11. It’s crazy to me that this team could (easily) win the most games of any Orioles team in 40+ years! I say “easily” based on strength of schedule remaining. The “now” and future is bright. Could you imagine if we added a TOR starter in the offseason? I just hope all aligns with the team and ownership.
  12. Rule 5 players maintain their options if selected by another team BUT they must be kept on the 25 man roster for the entire season in which they were selected. After that season, they can be optioned. I keep a big roster spreadsheet with everyone in the organization and happy to share info if you’re looking for specific players.
  13. I attended games 1 & 2 of the ALCS with my dad. What memories. Joe Nolan threw me a baseball during pre-game. I truly became a fan that year. I vaguely remember ‘79 and remember the end of ‘82. I watched or listened to just about every game of the ‘83 season. In addition to what has already listed, I remember a late September doubleheader at Detroit that we swept. It locked up the season for us. Boddicker pitched a shutout in game 1 and then they won game 2 in the 9th (after trailing 3-1) on a John Löwenstein-Jensen grand slam! What a great year! I was 10 years old and it was one of my favorite summers.
  14. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2023/07/orioles-designate-eduard-bazardo-for-assignment.html includes mention of Wells demotion. Precursor to a trade to add a starter?
  15. When Fujinami came into the game, I was so angry that I took the dogs for a walk without my phone. The entire walk, I convinced myself that when I got home, the Orioles would be losing 7-5. Was surprised it was only tied. This was a bad move. Use Baumann, Perez, Irvin, ANYONE……but a guy who is in his 3rd day with the team and hasn’t been very good.
  16. Love the research/thread @Frobby! I was looking at this last night as well but didn’t go to this extent! Thanks for sharing.
  17. Im glad @Moose Milliganposted this. Tonight was so exciting and it wasn’t even about the outcome (although the win made it better). The 26-man roster has a considerable amount of young talent and we still have guys yet to join the MLB squad. I don’t know if I’ve seen an Orioles team with this much young talent. One could argue that ‘89 with Brady, Finley, Devereaux, Worthington, Olson, and Harnish was better. Heck that team even had Schilling late in the season along with Ben McDonald. I still like the current group of talent. Wish we had one more top 50 starter (not DL Hall).
  18. Feeling “Why Not?”-ish tonight, so how about Bob Milacki for #18?
  19. Would love to see a good turnout for the Toronto series. It’s a big series and fans should be excited about meaningful mid-June baseball!
  20. Anyone writing Grayson off is just silly. John Smoltz first year: 2-7, 5.48. Greg Maddux first full year: 6-14, 5.61. There are ample examples throughout history of pitchers struggling to adjust that first year. Give Grayson some….we’ll….grace! He needs to make adjustments and a stint in the minors can help him.
  21. I tend to look at the schedule in 5 game chunks in hopes that we win 3 out of every 5 games. This gets you to 97 wins (.600 baseball). I never expect to sweep a series because even bad teams can pull one out. If we win 2/3 in KC, we’ll be 21-10 headed into a tougher part of the schedule. I would be good with that.
  22. I thought he got squeezed in a few calls. Baez chases everything - not sure I would have thrown something in the zone on the pitch he hit.
  23. I find this entire thread silly (and I mean in a laughing way). So many points being argued are easily countered with either "it was the old regime" or "we have already moved in this direction". I think we're doing a lot of good things on the pitching side. To argue about Grayson's control after 2 major league starts is just crazy to me. Up until this spring, he had very good control and I have every reason to think he will re-gain that control as he gets more starts. @backdoorslider - Grayson has located his fastball very well. Don't judge based on a small sample size. Also, the Orioles have stayed away from drafting pitchers early under the current regime. Cut Grayson some slack. My goodness!!!
