  1. I’d bet they haven’t. Just a hunch.
  2. The Reds extended Hunter Greene today. 6/53. THE REDS.
  3. Those were terrible. I don't think they lasted long.
  4. That's fine. But if he wants to hit, he should probably understand that his best chances to do so are at pitches in the zone. And either he really thinks he can hit a low and outside slider or just has a terrible time picking up the spin. It's like when Adam Jones would have some stretches where you could tell he'd lay off a slider and you just knew he'd had a meeting with the hitting coach and even though he was drooling all over it, he wouldn't pull the trigger and swing. But it was REALLY REALLY hard for him to not swing. And then after not long he'd go back to flailing away at them like he always did. To @Hank Scorpio's point, if Jones could have identified a slider, I think he'd have been unstoppable. And I think guys like Jones and Mountcastle get a hit off a slider every so often and in their minds that justified the 50 other times where they whiffed on it. It's not hyperbole when I say that I think Mountcastle could be an elite hitter, perhaps an all time great if he were more selective. Most great hitters walk, it's that simple...unless you're like Tony Gwynn, Kirby Puckett or Ichiro that has no problem hitting .300 year in, year out and don't need to walk. Either he doesn't believe that or understands it and ignores it.
  5. What negative aesthetic consequences could there be?
  6. Seems to me you've got a problem with people spending their money (not yours) on things they like.
  7. Anything outside the norm. And anything flashy, I'm assuming.
  8. Tonite: Dean Kremer vs. Josiah Gray Tomorrow: TBD vs. MacKenzie Gore The Nats are terrible, so initially I thought we should take both games. But Kremer has been awful and Gore is showing like the top prospect that he was considered to be.
  9. We all know why Texas got a terrible City Connect jersey. /SG
  10. I'm not sure if Adley and Julio Rodriguez are going to be linked throughout their careers, however in our minds they might be. I think Adley was the better player last year, he just wasn't up long enough to accumulate enough stats to wrestle the ROY award away from J-Rod. And I know J-Rod scuffled to start last year, and he looks like he's scuffling again this year to start, too. .239/.299/.423. .721 OPS, 103 OPS+ He will always have an edge over Adley in the age department but I'm curious to see how these two are compared throughout their careers, especially including their peaks.
  11. Fair. But I don't see Adley being over .400 being out of the question. In regards to Cedric, if he's cutting down on his swing and not hitting for as much power (especially hitting in front of Adley), I can see him in the .375 range. He was at .360 in his career year, I don't think it's entirely impossible for him.
  12. I don't know, I think plate discipline is a fairly steady and consistent skill. I don't think any of these guys are going to stop walking, or significantly decrease the rate at which they walk. In other words, I don't think plate discipline really slumps...I mean, look at Gunnar...struggling to make contact, struggling to get hits and he's still effective in our lineup because he's so selective. Barring significant injuries, I can see this team leading the AL in walks.
  13. I think it's in the range. The pitching needs to get ironed out for that to happen though. The offense has been a really pleasant surprise.
  14. He's starting to heat up and it's good to see. I like the spread between the batting average and the on base percentage. Quite frankly, I am not concerned if he doesn't hit for as much power this year, just if he gets on base at the current clip throughout the season that's great. Especially with the uptick in stolen bases. I think @Tony-OHsaid that he felt Cedric was swinging for the fences a little bit, I can understand that. And if he's not trying to be so homer happy but more gap-to-gap, I think that suits him really well.
  15. I agree with this. I think people know he can hammer a good fastball...even though he hasn't been in the league very long, they know he's a good fastball hitter. He's going to have to work to see them and pitchers are going to want to challenge him with offspeed and breaking balls. I think they'll concede a walk but they don't want to groove a fastball to him.
  16. Mateo for MVP. That'd be better than Cal's '91 season, IIRC.
  17. wildcard, if you could find some shred of hope to think that this team would win 120 games, you'd believe it.
  18. Yeah, I don't think anyone thinks that this is a 90 win team as currently constructed. Not with the pitching issues this team has.
  19. Gotta love the competitive spirit, he doesn't cave despite having every reason to do so. His first inning issues are bad, they need to figure out a way to help him iron that out. Would like to see his ERA without the first inning.
  20. That is a really good sign.
  21. Still waiting for him to regress to the hitter he was overall last year but still also enjoying how he’s playing right now. Not sure if this is for real but the peripherals and analytics are encouraging.
  22. Love that he’s got off to a hot start and that he’s not rolling over for aaaaaanyone.
