  1. Little Yaz with the walk off Grand Slam!
  2. I remember being 10 or 11 years old, learning about Orioles history and coming across the 1969 World Series and being incensed that the Orioles lost a World Series. Not only that they lost a World Series, but that they lost to a team like the Mets who had been terrible up until that point. Growing up and learning about your favorite team is weird, at least it was for me. "How did they lose a World Series to the METS? And the Pirates? TWICE! What do you mean Nolan Ryan threw a no-hitter against them?"
  3. He really does. I'm wondering if a result of having such a great approach and a great eye will result in a lot of called strike threes moving forward. It's the Ted Williams (for you reading comprehension challenged folks, I am NOT comparing Adley to Ted Williams) where he'd get the benefit of the doubt from umpires when he took a close pitch. The great hitters, as the anecdotes and legends go, get the benefit of the doubt from umpires as to whether or not a close pitch was a strike. If Adley asserts himself into a beast hitter, he might have that luxury one day.
  4. Start a new one tomorrow. RIP Ray Liotta.
  5. Oh no! Is the fall from grace already starting??? Usually starts with mentioning "LOB" in a tight loss.
  6. My bad, I had you confused with someone else then. I think he has some trade value, I just don't want to go down the rabbit hole of defining what his trade value could be. I don't think he gets traded though.
  7. I think it's pretty fair to say that he's an emotional leader, clubhouse guy. IIRC, he's the longest tenured Oriole. He's a leader here. I know you don't really believe in that type of stuff but it's fair to say that his teammates do. He wouldn't be a de-facto leader somewhere else, most likely. Hence, valuable for us, less so somewhere else.
  8. No, they've been pretty awful. But like I said, I ain't worried.
  9. Quite frankly, if he hits like a mother****er, frames pitches well, blocks balls in the dirt, calls a good game, builds a great rapport with his pitchers, I really don't care if he's subpar at nailing baserunners. Maybe I'd feel different about that if this were the 80s, a different era where the running game was more prevalent. And maybe (this is just a feeling, and I am too lazy to look this up) I get the feeling that the running game is coming back a little bit, certainly not to the Rickey/Raines/Coleman extent, but I think that stolen base attempts have picked up a bit. Anyway, if that's the one hole in his game, I'm not terribly upset about it.
  10. Well said. CoC's continued gripe about not spending every last dollar of the pool money is a bit odd, but whatever.
  11. It's really all over the place. I hope it's not Lee, but I've not got that feeling it would be. I thought Collier because he's the youngest one and he was part of the team that took Correa #1 when he was 17, too. That, and he's competed against older JC competition this year, too. WTF is this, Mad Libs?
  12. I somehow think Collier could be the pick. I’ve had that sneaking suspicion over the last day or so.
  13. This was my first thought, too. I mean, I don't think you fire a manager at this point in the season without having a bead on who the replacement is. Bringing Cito back would be stupid but I hope they do it. I love seeing the Jays scramble like this, its great.
  14. Excited about Jones, Holliday. I'd be okay with Lee, Collier, Johnson. I don't think we have to worry about Berry, but I'd be pretty upset if we took him. Though the meltdown here would be a sight to see. I've got a sneaking suspicion the pick will be Holliday. While I'd prefer Jones, I think he's going to want close to slot and I just don't think Elias is going to do that. And again, I'm excited about Holliday, too.
  15. I agree, it totally depends on how he rest of the month plays out.
  16. I think it's pretty aggressive to get three guys back for a Mancini rental. I mean, we got 5 for Machado and none of them turned out to be very good save for Kremer who looks like he could be turning it around. Diaz might have been something if not for being constantly injured. Per what Drungo said, I think you'd get two guys back, like a Vavra and a Rom type. Guys who might make the majors but I don't think anyone essential to a winning team. But we'll see when the trade comes. I'd love to be wrong.
  17. Damn right I am. Speaking of the '79 conversion van and the unicorn on the side, I listened to some Dio the other day. Fantastic.
