  1. It's not that I'm not on my own side...or anyone's side, really. I just don't think they ever cared about the fans (as I've previously mentioned) past how far they can reach into our pockets. We aren't of any use to them otherwise. So...no, they don't care. And quite frankly, I'm not sure what difference it makes as to who's "side" any of us are on. I mean, what are we doing here besides arguing on a message board? It's not as if any of us have real skin in the game here, like being financially tied to the MLBPA or the owners.
  2. Speaking strictly for myself, Raffy pitching for Viagra offsets any "B12" shots or any other steroids he might have done.
  3. I can't remember who the player was that said "We were prepared for this," or something along those lines. Made it sound like they knew they were going to be far apart and there'd be a work stoppage. I am sure guys who are making good money have been preparing and budgeting going without salaries for an extended period of time. I'm not sure how flexible the MLBPA is for some of the players who earn less but I am wondering if they'll allow league minimum guys access to pensions early or something. Or use their pension fund as some sort of a draw. I dunno. The players have the strongest union in all of sports, they're not about to break for anyone. Some of you guys laughed at me, but prepare to miss a whole season.
  4. Rafael Palmeiro. Retired 5 years, more than 3 years with the team, not in the team (or real) HoF.
  5. Lol, tempering expectations. Bitch, please. If these guys aren't Hall of Famers, they're busts.
  6. Not a coincidence, IMO. Have they been seen in the same room together?
  7. Is it true the players offered to negotiate during the season if need be?
  8. You saw it not long ago, kinda. Cardinals won something like 82 games. Playoffs shouldn’t reward mediocrity, IMO. But that’s what society wants these days, rewarding mediocrity.
  9. Yeah. The NHL playoffs are a joke. NBA too, a little bit. Cheap way to make fans think their team has a shot: expand the playoffs. Count me uninterested if an 85 win Orioles team makes the playoffs. I don’t need to feign enthusiasm for a slightly better than .500 team.
  10. Jesus, I can't believe it's that simple. SG, get in there and show them who's boss and how to get **** done!
  11. Ah yeah, the Belkast days. That was a fun time.
  12. Or desperate kids on prom night. Man, it takes one tweet to send this board into a tizzy. I hope it happens, I'd love to get him too. But I don't know why a winner like Correa would come to a place like this. We'd have to significantly spend more than anyone else in the running and I don't see that happening.
  13. C'mon, don't you know how things work around here? Little Angelos and Elias are just making an offer like that to show us that they can make an offer like that and make us THINK that they can spend money but ultimately won't. It's called a "token offer." And in 10 months from now when we're whining about the Orioles not spending money, someone will invariably bring up THE CORREA OFFER as evidence that they can spend money, at which point they'll be shouted down.
  14. Anyone who thinks Correa is coming here is still waiting for the Orioles to make their WOW offer to Mark Teixeira after a Ravens game.
  15. D-Day for missing games. I'm assuming a deal won't magically happen today. Or anytime soon, really.
  16. Absolutely. They're about to miss out on revenue this season so they'll take what they can get any way they can get it. Whatever recurring MLBtv revenue they'd get probably isn't much in the grand scheme of things but it'll be better than nothing.
  17. Oh, they'll have the audacity alright. "They don't care about the fans!!! wwwwaaahhhhhh!!!" We're about to see that again, first hand at 150 bucks a pop or whatever it is. They'll dip their hands right in people's pockets who aren't paying attention and not think twice about it. Then they'll offer 2023 at a discounted rate because people paid for 2022 in full or something. Wait and see.
  18. Giving them a million bucks is pretty much a middle finger. Nothing like insulting the other side of the table when you're negotiating. It's cool SG, keep laughing about no baseball this year. Maybe if we're lucky we'll get another 80 game jackoff season. I'm not going to get it this year. It's due to re-up March 1st, I need to cancel it. I saw someone walk through the steps on how to do it, I'll post it here when I find them.
  19. You're asking for the most powerful union in all of professional sports in a sport where contracts are guaranteed to accept a hard salary cap? For the millionth time for the people in the back, spending a lot doesn't guarantee success
  20. I'd say there's a 50% chance that a whole season is missed.
  21. Get ready for missing a whole baseball season.
  22. I’ve got a slight feeling that we won’t have baseball this year. Adley won’t see the majors till he’s 25. Pity.
  23. Wow, looks like the word got out about Coby Mayo. He might be the player I’m most excited about on this list.
  24. Depends on how HIGH the batting average is, Froberto Duran. Glass half full, k?
