  1. Wow, I figured it'd be @Philipin here complaining about the Mullins game off first.
  2. I thought it was the Waters Moment? Now it's Spenser Watkins? I can't keep up.
  3. Probably not. I mean, maybe. But the odds are we haven't. That's not a slam on him, that's just how baseball works. Yesterday was a decent start, IMO, not a great one. He went 5 innings, threw 91 pitches. He struck out 4 which is okay, not great, but he also walked 4, too. He pitched out of two bases loaded jams. IMO, that's not a recipe for success. I said it in the game thread but I'll say it again here; it was a pretty cool highwire balancing act. Now I will say he probably didn't have his best stuff and he battled and figured out a way to get out of his jams. He battled, and that's great. But we still need to see more of him to see if we have something or not. The history of baseball is littered with guys who came up and had some initial success but couldn't sustain it. For every John Means you get, there's dozens of Josh Towers. This isn't to say I don't want to see more of Ellis, I absolutely do. But there are warning signs, he's struck out 11 in 17.2 innings and he's walked 8 in Baltimore. That's not great and with those k/bb rates a 2.08 ERA isn't sustainable. His FIP is 5.08.
  4. Abad straight up hit that guy with a forearm shiver!
  5. I posted this the other day, but I'll post it again here: https://www.mlb.com/news/eric-davis-put-up-video-game-stats-for-reds-c279109048
  6. Because they were big and fat, probably. Good call, I was thinking about ol' Cal Pick.
  7. Working out of two bases loaded jams doesn't portend for great things to come, IMO. It's a neat highwire balancing act, but that's about it.
  8. That's odd, I remember that he DIDN'T hit decently and he went somewhere else like KC and did well for a few weeks. I just checked...first of all, he's DEAD. He died in 2015 at age 35 from a heart attack. That's very sad. But you're right, he did hit well here. Albeit small sample size. 37 at bats, 303./378/.424. He didn't play anywhere else.
  9. If he can hit over 30 homers he might get some votes.
  10. I was surprised Ken Griffey Jr didn't do it...actually never came all that close, really. I thought he stole more bases than he did, especially in the early days.
  11. Two guys in one year wearing #75. Interesting. Walter Young, name from the past.
  12. Well...off the top of my head... Mike Trout Willie Mays Hank Aaron Barry Bonds Bobby Bonds Larry Walker Eric Davis Dale Murphy Jose Canseco Larry Walker Alex Rodriguez Alfonso Soriano Pretty good company to be in if Mullins can drill a couple more homers and steal some more bases.
  13. Wow, Rickey never went 30/30. I guess that makes sense but figured he would have in the year he won MVP. As great as he was, he never hit 30 homers. He probably would if he was playing today, though.
  14. I see #75 in an Orioles uniform, I think of Alan Mills. Anyone else I'm missing?
  15. There have been a few shots like that over the past few days where I thought they were going to go out but they ended up on the track.
