  1. I'm fine with the way things are now. MLB struggles terribly with keeping fans involved and this works. I wouldn't want them to expand it any more, though.
  2. What would that have done for you?
  3. I think you want the media to be as upset as we are. It's not their job to be upset. It's not their job to be the voice of the people. And quite frankly, in this day and age the people do have a voice...it's twitter, facebook, Instagram...and for us, in this case, Orioles Hangout. You don't need Roch to stump for you, you don't need Meoli or Schmuck to tell the team how upset you are. Fire off a few tweets, leave some facebook posts. Keep writing on here, the Warehouse pays attention to this site.
  4. Meaningful answers like what? Whining about the media is one of the weirdest things that people do on here, IMO. What happens if MASN isn't an Orioles mouthpiece? What happens if the Sun all of a sudden stops writing fluff pieces and starts asking hard questions? Does Elias promote AR faster? Does he promote G-Rod faster? Does he change his draft strategy? Does he step up and sign talented pitchers in the off-season? Does he start Cowser at AA next year? Do the Orioles start winning more games faster because MASN and the Sun are trying to hold Elias's feet to the fire? What do people expect the media to do? "Meaningful answers!!!" What meaningful answers are there other than gathering as much talent as possible? Does anyone think that Elias is all of a sudden going to start giving direct answers because the media is suddenly going to start asking the tough questions? People have a weird, weird obsession with the media in this country and their perception of what the media actually does and can do. The Baltimore media has precisely dick **** to do with the product that the Orioles put on the field. Asking a different set of questions doesn't change anything.
  5. I don't know what good MASN pressure or the Sun asking the "hard hitting" questions would do.
  6. Yeah, I just don't really care. Frobby just posted they gave up 981 in 2019. 19 runs doesn't make a big difference, it just makes for a big shiny number. No one would make a note of a difference between 962 runs and 981 runs. There's hardly a difference between 981 and 1000.
  7. Is the goal of this thread to shine a light on the lack of talent on the current roster?
  8. It's not an office environment. And someone needs to stick up for this team.
  9. I see that the Orioles have given up two touchdowns and two point conversions. Just here to get Philip's take on everything, really.
  10. You can try, but good luck. He'd prefer to appear to be the thinking man's fan by pretending that hard contact vs. soft contact is some inside info that makes him smarter than the rest of us. I'm not sure why I'm trying to convince him, you can't convince someone who doesn't have an open mind. Plus kickoff is in 45 minutes or so.
  11. Tanner Scott has other issues that are preventing him from becoming a lockdown bullpen piece. Strikeouts aren't the most important thing, but they're still important. You'll understand when Akin reverts back to pitching the way he was earlier on.
  12. There's nothing like the oldfangled baseball fan who refuses to understand the changes in the way the game is played and how certain things become more important as time passes. I get it, too. I mean, I'd rather have the game like it was in the 80s. Lower strikeout rate, more balls in play, more action. But the natural evolution of the game has ushered in pitching where guys are consistently in the upper 90s with wipeout sliders. But, whatever. You're correct, someone that obsesses over poor defense should comprehend why strikeouts matter. And someone who's obsessing over hard contact vs. soft contact should understand how strikeouts correlate, too.
  13. I don't feel like explaining to you why strikeouts are important in this day and age. I'm in a good mood, the NFL starts today.
  14. Personally, I'm not concerned, no. As long as he has a good approach, gets on base at a good clip and plays good defense, I don't care how much power he hits for. I understand the importance power plays in todays game but if he can hit a lot of doubles, those will probably turn into homers as he gets stronger. But if he can get on base at .380+, I don't care how many he hits over the fence.
  15. He struck out three, walked two.
