Fry is doing well this year. He'd probably be the one to replace Valdez. Didn't realize Valdez had blown 3 in 11 chances this year.

First of all, Valdez has been solid so far. Yes, small sample size and all that. But no closer converts 100% of save opportunities. I don't think Tanner Scott is ready to take over the closer spot, there's also not another really valid option at the moment. Valdez wasn't sharp tonite and it remains to be seen if he can close at a consistent clip. I don't see the harm in letting him keep getting save opportunities until he shows he's not the guy for the job. This year, anyway.

But is it?

Also needed to get at least one run there. I didn't have an issue with it either, especially after the 6th inning where he allowed some runners.

Tanner Scott does not inspire confidence.

That's pretty key. Also, I'd like to see his stats the 2nd time through the order (not sure where to find them). IIRC, it's the third time through the order where he starts to fall apart. I'm fine with leaving him in the rotation to see if they can find consistency with him, too.

Lopez has a lot of potential and I am interested in seeing if the Orioles can harness it. Maybe he's used as starting pitcher that can get you 5+ or 6+ every time out. Maybe they use him as a stopper out of the bullpen who can go through a lineup once. Maybe he's a swingman. He's got better stuff than the "prospects" we're supposed to be excited about, guys like Lowther and Akin and Zimmermann. If the Orioles can help Lopez become consistent and find a role for him that would be fantastic. As it stands right now, I think there's a 50-50 shot of that happening.

Maybe for you. Sheesh. This board practically exists for Orioles fans to get worked up over things.

Lol, Lowther down, Akin up. If there was a definitive re-arranging deck chairs on the Titanic move, this might be it.

Tate's been better than I thought he'd be. McKenna is whatever. Too bad about Diaz, was hoping he'd be the one to be up now. Curious to see what other moves are on the horizon.

Hey @Can_of_corn Yes. This is why I didn't buy the hype train last summer from the alternate site. Faced the same guys over and over. And you're right, you don't knock the #1 pick. It's going to be all praise, all the time. Getting that feeling, too. But I've still got some hope.
