  1. Good. Spring Training will be here before we know it, too.
  2. You're right, I just looked at his latest season age, didn't bother to notice that it was 2019. He didn't play in the majors this year.
  3. I see what you did there. He's had some good years, some not so good years. Turns 34 tomorrow. I'm assuming this is a non roster invitee for spring training and will see some time in Baltimore when a reliever goes down.
  4. I had a super two this morning after wings and pizza last night.
  5. Jeff Passan's take https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/30516592/why-cleveland-indians-name-change-half-century-overdue
  6. If they ever have a sign stealing scandal, they could blame it on their Spidey senses.
  7. If you like spiders. At least I hope they keep the colors.
  8. I'm not sure what they're kicking around but the Spiders seems to be somewhat popular.
  9. It's already been flushed!! That's the thing! It's been flushed!! Flushed a long time ago! Dude, you and I provided more value to the Orioles roster than Chris Davis did last year. Or in 2019. Or in 2018.
  10. Yes, the velocity staying will be key. I think it has decent movement, but nothing special. But as long as there's good separation between the fastball velocity and changeup velocity, that's what matters most. He ended 2020 on a great note, I'm really looking forward to seeing what he can do this season.
  11. I think Means needs to develop a quality third pitch. The fastball is alright, the changeup is pretty outstanding. I think he needs a better curveball that can keep batters honest. Doesn't need to be as good as his changeup but it needs to be good enough that batters have to respect it. Right now, I'm not sure it's that good. But I think he's got a good feel for pitching, I think it can be improved upon...his curveball usage jumped from 6 percent to 12 percent between 2019 and 2020 while his slider usage went down. I'd be in favor of him scrapping one or the other to make a legit third offering.
  12. I think he was better than advertised in LF last year. He'll be fine.
  13. If SG is posing the question on whether or not to acquire a player, the answer is usually "yes."
  14. This is the most thrilling day of the year if you're an Orioles fan.
  15. Can't wait to see what player we pick and try to figure out how we're going to keep them on the roster all year!
  16. I really don't care what he says. I mean, he can drop his pants, turn around and bend over and tell the fanbase to kiss the fattest part of his ass and it wouldn't make me like him any less than I already do. I'm fully prepared that we have to sit through two more seasons of having him on the roster. Keeping him on the roster instead of cutting him and eating the rest of the contract has gone well beyond the point of logic and reasoning. There's no good reason to have kept him on all this time, he's had plenty of chances to have gotten back on track and he just can't do it. It is sunk cost and he gets in the way of letting other more deserving players getting playing time. So after all these moments in time where it's seemed like it would be a logical time to cut him, they haven't. Therefore, I am thinking this contract is going to have to run its course. At one point, I thought there was a decent chance that if Davis were cut (or if he retired) that his big homer seasons weren't far enough in the rearview mirror to where people wouldn't forget that he was good and a fun player when he was swinging well. IMO, those seasons are too far in the past. Any chance of him wanting to have some sort of positive legacy is out the window. The stank on his career is too much to get rid of.
  17. I was pissed when I typed in Baines near the end thinking he was definitely one.
  18. 81/100. The obvious ones I missed are (spoilers below): Mickey Tettleton, Mark Reynolds, Luke Scott, Aubrey Huff. Had no idea that Paul Blair once hit 26 in a season. Also forgot about Don Baylor. Totally whiffed on the Browns players.
  19. A good read by Verducci. https://www.si.com/mlb/2020/12/08/new-york-mets-pitcher-sam-mcwilliams
  20. Ah, well, in my fog I thought the conversation was delving into bad Orioles trades, as threads here usually have taken a turn or two by the third page. For a reference, look at the Jose Iglesias trade thread, it's covered a whole range of topics including when we'll see AR, Diaz, manipulating time clocks and other fun topics. Storm Davis was better after leaving Baltimore than I remembered. But we got back the underrated Mark Williamson, too.
  21. On the contrary, I'd like to see more baseball type contracts in football. Growing up, watching the Redskins, they had players that stayed with the team for their entire careers. Darrell Green, Joe Jacoby, Art Monk (except for those last stints as a Jet and an Eagle at the end) and a bunch of others. You rarely get that in football anymore, unless we're talking about a quarterback. An NFL team will tie itself to a QB for a longer period of time because it's the most important position. Aaron Rodgers will retire as a Packer, most likely. Patrick Mahomes isn't going anywhere. The rest is up for grabs, pretty much all the time. It's exceedingly rare in the NFL to have a player last his entire career with one team and their contract structure/salary cap allows for that. Last night I watched my Washington Football Team beat the Steelers. I saw a talented young defensive front that will probably have a very short window of time together to make an impact. They won't be able to keep that unit together for 5-6 years which is a shame. They're going to have to make decisions on who to keep and who to let walk. There's something to be said for having players stay their whole career in one place, or at least the bulk of their career in one city. It's getting more and more rare in baseball, it's pretty rare in the NFL and practically non-existent in the NBA. Call it romantic or sappy, I admit that it is. But I like seeing great players in one uniform for their careers.
