  1. I think they'd have kept him if he could hit reasonably well against righties.
  2. Galvis looks to be a logical option, Profar does, too. But Profar made 5.7 million last year, I am not sure if he can get that this year but we know thi team doesn't come close to that. I personally think (I'm not hoping for this) that Richie Martin now has a strong case to make the team as the OD SS. That wouldn't be good. I highly doubt that Elias is looking ahead to the FA SS class of '21-22 next winter: https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2020/04/mlb-free-agent-shortstops-2021-22-lindor-baez-correa-seager-story.html Lindor, Baez, Correa, Seager, Story. Not a snowball chance in hell that we could get one of them as it stands but one can dream. It's also 12:37 in the morning, I should know better.
  3. 1.5 runs a game would have put us at 6.08 per game for the 2020 season. We'd easily be ahead of the Dodgers for the best offense in the game.
  4. There are some things to like. Still curious to see what else transpires this offseason, namely who will be the Opening Day SS and 3B.
  5. Not with this pitching. It's improving but it's still far from good enough to win 85 games.
  6. Offseason isn't over yet. Not that I have hopes for this being a particularly great offseason, but it's not over yet.
  7. I did notice. Maybe I should have put that in green but I didn't feel like that was necessary.
  8. And yet, we keep trading for it. It's hilarious that we got a Pinto.
  9. Cause he's on our side now. So therefore we're going to overvalue him because that's what we do. Well, not ME...but a lot here do.
  10. It does. I know how much not spending a couple hundred thousand in the draft means to you.
  11. Awesome trade! Getting pitching back from a weak system with perhaps their weakest aspect of their system. This is a big nothingburger.
  12. I dunno, Valaika's defense is suspect at best. I saw enough of him at SS last year to not want to see him move 50 feet to his right. His bat was encouraging, I am not sure if it outweighs his defense.
  13. Thanks, big guy. Glad to put a smile on your face.
  14. I'd also like to see him in a platoon with Nunez.
  15. This is good news. Will be interested to see what happens with Alberto. I wouldn't be surprised if they keep him and try a platoon with Alberto against lefties. Sanchez is better against righties, but that's not saying much, he's still bad. But if you have him in there, his defense is still probably better than Alberto.
  16. I like Severino. Happy to have him back for a year before the inevitable AR letdown.
  17. I think things are going back to normal from a daily life routine. But I think Covid has taught people how to live without things that they thought they couldn't live without. I can't live without baseball, but I can quite easily live without going to OPACY again. I'm happy to go if there are others that want to but I'm not going to be the one to suggest going. Add to that that baseball's fanbase is increasingly growing older and hasn't figured out a way to capture millennial and Gen Z attention. Washington Post had an article on it the other day, it was a good read: https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2020/11/24/gen-z-sports-fans/ If the NFL is worried, MLB should be absolutely petrified.
  18. I think it's going to be a long time before we see that with any regularity. If ever again.
  19. Quite frankly, I don't miss going to games. Being selfish, I really don't care when fans are in the stadium and when they're not as I don't have much of an interest in going to games.
  20. I get that, and I'm not expecting Mountcastle to hit .300. I'm just saying, if he could somehow get his OBP to .360, that'd be pretty awesome. Better if it's not propped up by batting average.
  21. I think Mountcastle's walk rate should improve, too.
  22. Puckett's on base percentage was .360. If Mountcastle could do that, I'd be thrilled. I think we all would be happy with that.
  23. Does he try to pull low and away pitches and roll them over? Or would it be easier for him to take that pitch to the opposite field and that's something he hasn't been able to do? If he has elite plate coverage, I would assume that going the other way should be something he can do.
  24. They brought in 35 million it gate receipts in 2019. If I'm doing my math right, exactly 0 in gate receipts last year. We can't ignore that the pandemic did damage. In 2021, they've got 41.5 million in player salary on the books. If you want to assume they can double it, sure, be my guest.
