  1. I think he's decent. I don't think he's "really good" but I think he's pretty good and can be a piece for a winning team. Also shocked that a rule 5 pick turned out to be solid.
  2. I don't get you not getting the Santander love around here.
  3. Beats me. But I don't believe anyone who's had a bit of success at the ML level while juicing stops taking them, especially after they've bagged a big contract.
  4. They must be terrible side effects if hitting .115 is a reality he can deal with.
  5. Yep. But to further my point, if he was taking any kind of PEDs, why stop after signing that contract? And why continue to be absolutely miserable for years now, especially if the easy fix is PEDs? While there's a risk to take them as Robinson Cano just found out, the dopers are usually ahead of the testing that's out there. It's like Brady Anderson said, if his 50 homer season was due to taking steroids, wouldn't he just keep taking them? It'd behoove everyone if he did. Same applies to Davis.
  6. I dunno, I can see that take (I'm not offended, btw), but the dude just can't make contact anymore. I think his skills just eroded pretty quickly. And it's in his head now, too. There's no coming back from what he's got.
  7. Good points, I'll add another: Pujols and Cabrera are future Hall of Famers, there's some sort of value (not much, but some) in having these guys around to chase counting numbers and add to their legacies. Can't say that for Davis, either.
  8. Eh, I hope he plays and plays a lot. He just needs to keep showing how bad he is, make it even more irrefutable (even though it already is) so that it can't be ignored. Stashing him on the bench does nothing. They just need to keep rolling him out there. He probably doesn't throw in the towel, but hopefully that's an option, too.
  9. Man, Davis is easily the worst contract of all time. EDIT: I guess not "easily", Ryan Howard's contract is pretty terrible, too. But I think Davis is going to widen the gap some more this year.
  10. He was a fun player on bad teams. I hope he catches on somewhere else and goes on to produce.
  11. I think the more likely scenario is that you're just straight up wrong, homie.
  12. Yes, and to piggyback on @RZNJ's point, taking Elias/ownership to task on saving 200k on 13 million is a bit much. I'd be pissed if we'd spent, like, 8 out of 13 million, but that's not the case here.
  13. Yeah, I think you're reaching here. Not every penny needs to be spent for what he needs to do. It's not like he's not been able to sign picks and expand the international market. A prudent exercise would be to look to see how many teams spend every last dime of their international budgets and draft budgets. But I really don't care that much to look.
  14. I suppose. But I think we can all agree that you want more out of a first round pick. Yes, pat on the back for that guy for making the big leagues for 6 seasons, job well done.
  15. I'm inclined to agree, but we don't know why all the money wasn't spent.
  16. Well bitch on, brother. Spending every last dollar of the draft and international markets should guarantee success. Sharpening my pitchfork as we speak.
  17. But we'd be bitching if they were going out to spend money on a free agent at a 55 win team saying we're not ready yet.
  18. I don't believe you've ever mentioned this before. For me, the jury is still out on the sons. Elias seems to be able to do a lot more than his predecessors. Making progress in the international/South American markets is huge. I know it's easy to say that the sons are just as bad as PA, or not markedly better, however I still want to see if they spend as the team graduates its home grown talent and becomes better.
