  1. Tatis is great, but if I'm the Padres I'd like to see him play a full season injury free before guaranteeing that kind of money. Last year, IIRC, he had something wrong with his back and I'm not sure if that's something that's going to keep popping up.
  2. Curious to see how fall Diaz keeps dropping. He might land here, but I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't.
  3. Someone keep an eye on @DrungoHazewood....please keep him away from sharp objects and guns. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2020/10/latest-on-white-sox-la-russa-rotation.html
  4. Hall and Mountcastle. Maybe. I dunno, I could see it going either way.
  5. Let the hand wringing over our middling prospects begin!!
  6. I feel like he's been gone long enough so I can say it and feel fine about it, but Manny Machado is a doucheloaf. No qualms about throwing a bat after a homer, but don't get pissy after Bellinger makes a great catch and the Dodgers want to celebrate it. If you want to dish it, you gotta be able to take it.
  7. Great, Kjerstad not being available to an undisclosed medical (not sports related) condition. Could be Covid, could also not be. Sounds like he didn't get to do much after the draft. Covid is a problem, I am not ignoring that, but it doesn't seem like Kjerstad is off to a good start.
  8. We've discussed this, I'm not sure you can automatically call Valaika a better defender at second base.
  9. D. Iglesias, as good as he was this year, didn't play too much. And while they'll probably pick up the option for 2021, he's most likely not a long term answer in the years thereafter. If he kills it next year, I don't see the Orioles spending a bunch of money or even an average amount of money on a shorstop heading into his age 32 season. Hanser is a fun player and a fan favorite who mashes lefties and can't figure out righties. Valaika was a small suprise and I know @wildcard is a big fan but the glove was inconsistent. Velazquez can't hit. Richie Martin can't hit. Ramon Urias probably can't hit if his minor league numbers are any indication. Hanser is probably the best of the bunch and if you're going to use him, he's best used as half of a platoon. There's depth, I guess, in the minors. But as I've stated before about these rankings, there's potential...and if you're going to look at the positive potential of these names, you also have to recognize that there's room for them to not pan out and contribute greatly to the franchise at the ML level...or never reach the majors at all. Vavra, IMO, is the most interesting one. He hit well in the Cape Cod league, he's been pretty good in the minors, but faced hasn't AA pitching yet and turns 24 in May. We've got some interesting draft picks this year and I acknowledge it's not their fault that they didn't get any playing time this summer so we don't know what we don't know. Of the groups graded so far, the middle infield, outside of the starting pitching, IMO, has the chance to increase their grade at this time next year. We'll have an idea if they'll pony up for Iglesias and be able to see what Vavra, Wesburg, Ortiz, Hernaiz and Servedio can do.
  10. Didn't know Aaron Judge was playing for us. Then again, he misses so much time, it'd be easy to not know that.
  11. Well there ya go, @Frobby Luke Scott, 2008 vs. Tigers. Although I don't think what Weams is looking at is just one season.
  12. Enough to piss you off, apparently.
  13. Bingo. It's a "top of the profession" type gig. A good pitching coach will always have a job and not have to grind it out too hard. Overseeing an organization would be pretty taxing.
  14. Oh, I thought you were agreeing about hypothetical trades being your wheelhouse
  15. I dunno, I really don't like the armchair GM thing when it comes to the point of bantering about names and what we could get back. That's @Sports Guy's thing, his wheelhouse if you will. Just ask him, he's undefeated on hypothetical trades I'm not sure if Stewart, Iglesias and Severino could get us a top 20 back from the Reds. If so, I'm assuming it's definitely someone from the 10-20 range.
  16. Oh man, that's going way back. I tried to think of the monster type seasons I could immediately remember, I forgot about Gentile. IIRC, 3rd in MVP behind Mantle and Maris. I've yet to be able to find anyone that's hit 10+ homers against one opponent in one year like Frank did against the Tigers in '66.
