I get that, but you can't put a price on the roster spot and how he hinders the development of other players. Yes, there are less dollars spent on his contract this year and perhaps in 2021 if there's another wacky season but at some point the conversation also needs to include how he hinders the roster moving forward and not just the salary. As Mountcastle's time gets closer, as Mancini makes it back from cancer, there's no room for him.

There are no "savings" when it comes to Davis. He's blocking a roster spot, he doesn't bring anything to the table. He is sunk cost, no matter what the "cost" is, Covid or not, 162 games or 60 games.

Team is winning in spite of him. Guys are having way better seasons. There's no reason to keep playing him.

Off the top of my head, Zobrist is old, Jackson hasn't played in awhile and was like a .650 OPS type and Jacoby Ellsbury is always hurt and terrible.
