  1. Fun exercise. 1. Keep Cowswer. Trade Kjerstad. Cowser has more tools and can make an impact on both sides of the field. He’s also a full year younger. 2. Keep Ortiz. Trade Westburg. I think you get a haul for Westburg after his debut and pedigree. Whoever stays is go out to be a super backup and Ortiz skill set fits that better. Westburg has always seemed like the odd man out/guy without a position. 3. Keep Povich. Trade McDermott. Povich is almost 2 years younger. I want LHP in OPACY and his stuff can be electric. Their stats are very similar. 4. Keep Santander. Trade Hays. Tony is just a better player. He’s the best hitter on the team. He can switch hit effectively and play a solid 1B. 5. Keep Basallo. Trade Mayo. For me Basallo close to #1 in the system. He’s almost 3 years younger than Mayo(32 months) and only one level behind him. I think to get a stud SP we need to give up quality and Mayo would be the guy for me. Infield is loaded and he is a difference maker. Have to give up quality to get quality. It would be ever so painful, however, to watch him mash somewhere else. 6. Trade Mateo. Keep Urias. Urias can hit. SS is clogged with Gunnar & Ortiz. Mateo gots to go. ** for the record I’m not for any of the above
  2. Agree. I’d like to see him replace Mateo.
  3. I think close to 0% chance Hicks comes back. He did an outstanding job for us while he was here. But I can’t see a role for him next year.
  4. I’m hoping one of Urias & Mateo are moved so Ortiz can step in to that role.
  5. Looks like the first O’Hearn type move of the off-season. Looks like a toolsy guy.
  6. I disagree. Look at LIV Golf. It just takes one disrupter to flip the whole thing upside down. As the sport continues to grow I think there is massive opportunity abroad.
  7. Why should a player be in an even position with ownership? In what industry in the world is labor in an even position with ownership? Every employee in the world is forced to ply their trade for a certain company at a certain rate. If you do not want to do that, you start your own business. You have options. It’s a lot more difficult and their is a lot more risk, but you have an option. If an employee is not performing or a company does not want to pay for their services, they shouldn’t be cut? The company should be forced to carry dead weight which affects their performances and brand?
  8. I think like all other contractors who put their bodies at risk, they should have their own insurance policies. I realize this can’t be a 1 off situation. It’s a league issue.
  9. I didn’t. I was making a comment. I think fair to both sides is 100% subjective and does not exist. In a situation where someone is paying for goods/services, the only thing right is for the payer to pay the payee for services rendered. If services aren’t rendered payment should not be made. If a player can’t perform due to injury, they should have their own insurance policy that covers their inability to perform. The employer should not be penalized.
  10. If you hired a contractor to build you a pool and then he broke his leg and was unable to work for two years (the length of the project), would you expect them to build you a pool once they recover? Seems prudent that a team (or a homeowner) should expect to receive the services they paid for. For the record, I’m a pro-player guy. But as a business owner, it irks me to know end people who get paid for not performing their service. That is wrong, regardless of injury or anything else. If services aren’t rendered, payment should not be due. Everyone assumes a risk. A pro athlete risks injury. If they are worried about injury, they can look into insurance policies, just like every other profession in the world, to cover their risks.
  11. I think, like everything else, it depends on the other moves. If the rotation is Burnes, Bradish, GRod, Means, Wells I'd be thrilled.
  12. Might not be terrible if they think one of the guys in AAA will be ready by the second half. Not ideal by any means, but not terrible. He’s going into his age 29 season and has shown improvement each year. There is reason to expect a slight improvement in production and durability next year. His BB9 & HR9 #s were higher than the last two years, if those improve I can see him pitching 150ip next year. I’d take a 113 ERA+ from my #5. With all that said, in a perfect world id like to have him pitch 90-100 innings of dominant relief because we brought in a significant rotation upgrade.
  13. It will be curious to see what his market is. I’d love to have him as a depth signing (#6) ONLY IF we were comfortable jettisoning him when a McDermott/Povich/Trade became ready/available OR the performance drops. Saying that, I can’t see this FO doing that. I won’t be surprised if they sign him, but I sure won’t be happy with the signing.
  14. Outside of a few guys on that list, teams paid a fortune for pretty mediocre pitching. Eovaldi is the only guy on that list that made sense for us AND was a realistic target. I was hoping we signed him and was actually a little surprised he didn’t get a slightly bigger contract than he did.
  15. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Gibson resigned.
  16. After you get past the top 5 or 6 CFers in MLB the offense drops off pretty significantly. The majority of CFers are defensive first player with just a handful of guys carrying a wRC+ > 100.
  17. How is that not based in reality? All their decisions are cost sensitive. Until they show they are going to spend money and bring in talent that costs them more than what they have on hand, how can you think they are going to open up the purse? To think they are going to trade low cost players for establish players making real money is not based in reality. Sure, he said ownership would back them at the right time. I will believe it when I see it. Until then, I very much expect them to get rid of the players making the most money and replace them with cost effective interval replacements. I think Santander *might be a player they pay a little for one more year, but wouldn’t be one bit surprised if he was traded a week after the WS.
  18. I just think he is the easiest production to replace. That + his extremely decreased foot speed. He played a solid LF this year, not confident he can replicate that. Santander is a switch hitter and can play an adequate 1B. Makes him much easier to fit into lineup. I have to imagine either one of Hays/Santander goes and I think Hays is odd man out. My 2 cents.
  19. There are 30 CF jobs in the world. It’s very difficult. Requires and incredible amount of work.
  20. I think they spend $$ for one more year of Santander. I don’t see how they can replace his production internally. I’m fairly confident Hays, Urias & Mateo will be moved. I’ll be shocked if they move any prospects in the top 20.
  21. In game power is the last tool to materialize.
  22. For some reason I thought he was only 1 year older than Grayson(who is about to turn 24 ) I stand corrected.
