  1. Broke down and paid for a year of The Athletic. Nice Grayson interview. Two snippets (hopefully this isn't too much to post) below. They are playing intra-squad games everyday, probably not a surprise to anyone, but I wonder if they would ever release the stats from those games, they have to be tracking them. https://theathletic.com/2023097/2020/08/26/qa-with-grayson-rodriguez-on-orioles-bowie-camp-pitching-and-adley-rutschman/?source=dailyemail Is there anything you have been working on that you feel has really improved your arsenal or something in particular that you’re concentrating on this year? Spin direction is a big thing. That’s how the ball is spinning on an axis, if you were able to break it down and put it on a clock. That’s a big focus right now for me, getting that cleaned up. We’re able to get a lot of work done with these TrackMan units and Edgertronic (high-speed) cameras and all this technology that we have. It’s really a lot of fun because in a game situation there are not cameras out there on the field with you. So, we’re able to do that here. Have to ask: Any readings yet on your fastball this summer? Triple digits yet in Bowie? We’re in the upper-90s right now. Not quite 100 (mph) yet. So far, I’ve gotten it up to 99. It’s still early. I think we’ll get there. I think we’ll reach the century mark before I leave here.
  2. Not saying it was a good trade, but I am 49 years old and 2014 is the only time in my lifetime I have been able to see a live Orioles (or any) playoff game, so I don't have any regrets personally. It was an amazing experience. Not sure that happens without Norris's 2014.
  3. Chris Cotillo @ChrisCotillo Red Sox moves: * Outrighted LHP Stephen Gonsalves to the Alternate Training Site * Released RHP R.J. Alvarez * Outrighted RHP Mike Shawaryn and removed him from the Club Player Pool.
  4. If he had been more involved with 2014, I would think, maybe....but subpar season and the year he got suspended (think I am remembering that right).
  5. This discussion got me wondering how old Jonesy was doing in Japan. Well about what he did last year in the Major's. .749 OPS, 9 HR's. https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=jones-001ada
  6. And the Giants were absolutely desperate for Outfield help at the time, Yaz probably doesn't get the chance most anywhere else.
  7. Oh I will take joint responsibility for derailing! Always enjoy your history and interruptions. Who is it?
  8. Looking at his dWar, I am surprised he even caught the ball, but the offensive context makes more sense now for the overall WAR as well. Nice of him to help in the Why Not year.
  9. And that is why I think we may see a few trades in the next few days. Get whatever he can get to help the rebuild and keep us falling back to the cellar. And I am ok with that. And I will also be rooting for them to win every night. Just glad to watch some baseball at all this year.
  10. Wow (and I know we are taking this misplaced thread way off course, sorry) I thought maybe Drungo made a mistake. I remember Bichette having some really big years, how could he only have 5.7war, thought you must have looked at just one year. But, nope, that is correct. I remember him not being that good defensively, but his dWar is impressive (impressively bad)!
  11. It certainly does, thanks much @SilverRocket
  12. @Frobby has done some nice analysis on this question:
  13. It looks like Brooksbaseball ( https://www.brooksbaseball.net/pfxVB/pfx.php )is no longer tracking pitching performances in their pitch Fx application. Does anyone know if there another site which does the same? Tracks velocity, pitch selection, etc...?
  14. I was wondering that too. It clearly was a passed ball or wild pitch, if the ball went out of play the movement to the one base would get a second base, right? I am guessing the pitcher or third basemen grabbed it off camera? I am work and have the sound off, so idea what the announcers said.
  15. I've been watching his line when I check the box scores each morning and was expecting this post soon. I personally am rooting for Manny and I think he will end up around career norms (+ or - a bit with only 60 games) once it is all done.
  16. Won’t be this year. Saving too much money.
  17. Zobrist already wasn’t playing this year even before Covid: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nbcsports.com/chicago/cubs/former-cub-ben-zobrist-isnt-retired-he-has-no-plans-play-2020%3famp What Moose said on the other two.
  18. Right...I said "may" to keep myself grounded. But if all 3 are better, that would be a nice start to the next crop of youngsters. One can hope...
  19. I agree with others, would prefer the youngsters, Akin, Lowther, Kremer....even if we make the playoffs (if that even happens) we are not going deep and want to see what we have. And all 3 may be better than either LeBlanc or Eshelman.
  20. Uh oh. Manny’s OPS over 800 now. Hit his 5th HR , grand slam last night. I’m sure your happy for him, right?
  21. I saw him again. Wearing blue Medical gloves too.
