  1. If the rumors are true about the Braves interest in Verlander and if winning is what is most important to him I could see that deal getting done.
  2. Cohen looking ahead to 24 I imagine will go hard after Ohtani in the offseason and if he really wants him he won't be out bid.
  3. I,m not sure how well we matchup with the Mets looking at their farm system they seem to be a lot like us thin on pitching deep in position players. The Dodgers do appear to match up better having young pitching to offer in return.
  4. I know all the talk is the great relationship between Verlander and the Astros, but I wonder if that relationship didn't take a hit when the Astros didn't pony up the cash to resign him?
  5. Sounds like Cohen is willing to pay down Verlanders contract to get better prospects.
  6. So who gives him the best chance of winning over the next two years between the Astros, Dodgers and O's? If the O's were not his first choice but we offered the Mets the best deal would or could he be persuaded to waive his no trade clause to come to Baltimore?
  7. Its July 31st and we are in 1st place in the toughest division in baseball and have the best record in the AL. I think most would agree we don't need to make a big splash. We have a good thing going right now with some good chemistry amongst these guys. We have a young pitching staff who are already approaching career highs in innings and its only August. Wells based off his recent struggles likely already has some arm fatigue. Can we realistically count on Wells, Bradish, Kremer and G-Rod to be at their best down the stretch. I don't think so and if Elias doesn't address that in someway, shape or form that's going to be a huge let down. While its clear that Elias and Co. know how to draft and develop, but can they negotiate trades and fa signings?
  8. I think Verlander's experience alone would be a great fit, but I doubt he waives his no trade clause to come to Baltimore. I think before that happens he probably tells the Mets to get the deal done with the Astros or even Dodgers before he would consider Baltimore. Now that being said I wonder what type of relationship if any he has with Elias from previous Houston days?
  9. I know we have Gibson but i would still like to see us add a veteran pitcher whose been in a pennant race, pitched in the playoffs that could lead this young staff. Verlander I know checks those boxes but who else does that could be available?
  10. If Verlander is indeed available what do you think it would cost and should we do it?
  11. With ownership showing year over year that they’re not willing to significantly increase payroll wouldn’t it be foolish to part with cheap controllable talent for what a 2 month rental? Unless we’re getting a guy back with at least 2 plus years control I wouldn’t part with any of our top 10 prospects. I could see a mlb player like Urias moved along with AAA guys like stowers and vavra moved, hopefully for middle relieve.
  12. Say what ya want about the guy but he is clutch. He’s had to have had as many if not more big hits for the team as any body else.
  13. Wells innings are a concern so why not have G-Rod piggy back wells when he comes up to help keep Wells innings down? I don’t see Elias trading much in the form of prospects for TOR starter that’s a half year rental but I could see him doing it for a guy with 2 plus years of control, just not sure who that guy would or could be.
  14. If we’re going to part with any of our top prospects. I think we should look for more than a rental. Who should we target if we were to offer say Hays, Mayo plus a fringe prospect? I say Hayes because it’s the right time to sell high on him.
  15. Can we add the pieces at the deadline that we need without hurting the club long term?
  16. If the white Sox are sellers I’d go after Giolito and then go after Robertson from the Mets.
  17. Let’s just move on from Frazier and dfa him.
  18. Pitching and more pitching. Kremer, Wells, Bradish have pitched well for us and hope they continue to but I would imaging their on some kinda innings limit. Gibson and Irving are the only two starters that have pitched more than 125 innings. And Irving just isn’t going to make it.
  19. Probably nothing to hear here just some thing to do with city connect.
  20. What's the reason for Felix slight dip in velocity? I remember last year he was consistently 99-101. This year its been more like 97-99, Is it by design?
  21. He sucked tonight that's for sure but he was also pretty darn good against the best offense in baseball his previous start. He's going to take his lumps this year. I'm pretty sure we'll see more of what we saw against Tampa and more of what we saw tonight from him the rest of the season. The experience he's gaining this year learning to pitch to big league hitters can't be duplicated at AAA. I believe it'll pay dividends down the road.
  22. Won’t be long now before Cowser replaces Stowers but who comes off the 40 man to make room?
