  1. I love Felix's response, lol, he's just like okay, yeah, thumbs up, please don't bother me more and I am not very interested in trying to understand 100% of what you've said.
  2. Horvath, Baumeister (this guy especially looks very, very interesting to me), and Lord all look like really interesting picks to me, so not too worried if this one is less of an upside choice or maybe a money saver.
  3. Thanks for the replies, was just curious. I'm a big fan of the pick myself (as an Elias stan or Frobbyite, depending on the terminology you prefer, that's kind of a given, I have seen enough to support any pick they make personally), that question notwithstanding. Totally agree with Malike's take above^^. I do feel like there is a bit of need actually in this pick...when I saw projections with infielders I thought to myself, a CF is really the one thing our system is a little thin in, and will need in the coming years as Mullins gets more expensive and begins to decline. So happy from that standpoint, too, he brings a profile that we're light on in our system.
  4. .311 BA at the college level isn't exactly the kind of average that would suggest really good contact skills, or am I wrong?
  5. I like his O-face even better than his D, honestly. I mean offense.
  6. Yeah, I missed the game too and am also curious why he was pulled after 82 pitches.
  7. Major drop off in his OBP is a bit baffling, when looking at his numbers. Went from around a .90 BA / OBP separation to a .55.

A month ago people were saying the reverse, that it's clear that Ortiz is regarded more highly than Westburg because he had been called up first. Now people are saying the opposite. I think the only thing that is clear is that the FO rates them both highly, as they should, given their ability and AAA production.
  9. What a return for Dylan Bundy, eh? A lot has been said about our drafting, but man, turning Dylan Bundy, Trey Mancini, and Jorge López into Bradish, Canó, Povich, Seth Johnson, Chayce McDermott, and Juan Núñez is pretty special.
  10. Who decided to give Hicks his Yankees' numbers?
  11. On what basis are people putting Mayo over Holliday? That coming from someone who loves Mayo... 1. Holliday t2. Cowser (guy has a .996 OPS at AAA and is a plus fielder...as much as I love Mayo I have a hard time separating them) t2. Mayo 4. Kjerstad 5. Basallo 6. Ortiz (.992 OPS at AAA and the better fielder of he and Westburg, think he deserves the slight nod) 7. Westburg 8. Fabian 9. Povich 10. Hall (think they'll find a way to get his velocity back...whether he'll ever command is another question...)
  12. Trading a reliever at the height of his value = almost always good business.
  13. I definitely see what the OP is talking about, not just his stance but the way he carries himself and talks, there's definitely a real JJ Hardy vibe there for me. So yeah, I agree that comps can be silly sometimes, but in this case I definitely see what he's talking about, there's some real similarities in terms of demeanour, physical complexion, etc.
  14. I seriously doubt the veracity of that. If you know something about sports science or physiology it really doesn't make much sense. People do much greater exertions (think Iron Mans, or sports without rests every 10-15 min of exertion like soccer) without losing half of that. The only way it would make sense if he was dehydrating himself throughout the whole game...it must be a bit of an exaggeration for effect. Not taking away from the general point that @Picklesmade and you responded to, mind, I can definitely see that point about it taking away from your hands and wrists which seem to be difference makers for a good hitter. But that Chris Hoiles line smells of exaggeration for effect or urban legend, scientifically it doesn't make much sense. Even people with really, really high BMI don't lose 10 lbs in a day with a massive exertion.
  15. I remember voting .750-.799 thinking I was being rather conservative / pessimistic!
  16. I'm beginning to be a bit over Frazier. Missed a difficult but fieldable one hopper line drive, and that play before where he rolls all over the grass I really don't feel was as difficult as he made it look. I just have a really hard time imagining that Ortiz will not be a significant upgrade both offensively and defensively, at this point.
  17. Mayo looks like a top 30 / top 25 prospect to me.
  18. I felt the same way when I said it's amazing what not thinking about sex can do for you re: Costanza in the traveling press secretary thread I feel your pain.
  19. I like Frazier and actually think he was a shrewd signing, and think his effect on the clubhouse is the real big advantage in him and probably underrated by us fans how important that kind of thing is, but it's getting time where Mateo and Frazier's production compared to the ability of Ortiz and Westburg...well, it's hard to stomach. Ortiz really needs to be given more ABs, if he rotates with Frazier and Mateo he should get almost starter's ABs. From there we can make a decision on whether a spot in the infield needs to be opened up via trade for Westburg.
  20. Hoping for 1/2. Both are very difficult starters.
  21. That tall right hander who hit lefties wasn't exactly the most detailed description. I couldn't figure out who it was either.

I'm guessing they don't feel it will be a terribly difficult transition. Kinda like Urías who's barely played 1B and had no problem filling in tonight. Next season is looking like a very exciting one, with I'm guessing an OF of Hays-Mullins-Cowser DH Kjerstad, and Mayo surely knocking at the door at 1B.

Also had a double and a walk. OPS up to .956. I am getting very, very excited about this young man.
