  1. You're right !!!!. All 6'4" 235 pounds played 3rd on Sunday with no errors. And one of Delmarva's pitchers has gone from 6'2" and about 180lbs to 275 pounds. And his picture reflects his weight gain. So far Ramirez is 3 singles in 10 at bats, no walks. Orioles need to cut back on the nutrition and calories they're feeding these guys.
  2. He had a great year in FCL playing his usual 3rd base. There were a few errors. This year he's added 2 inches and 15 pounds and he's stuck playing 1st. De Leon has moved from short to 3rd. That really hurts his prospect status. He was a Duquette signee i've been pulling for him since 2019. .878 OPS last year, batting .314 I believe.
  3. If you were a little older you would remember Tommy Davis as a Dodger. The 1962 and 1963 NL batting champ. He set the Dodgers record with 230 hits and 153 (?) RBIs in a season. He was injured about 1965 and was never as good.
  4. Tier 1 is a Bleacher Report Top 100 player. An Elite prospect. The Dodgers had 6. The Yankees had 3. Only the White Sox had none, and they were ranked 30th. Orioles had 4. You know the first 3 and Gunnar Henderson.
  5. They rate each team's top 10 prospects. The Orioles have 4 Tier 1 prospects, only 3 Tier 2 prospects. The other 3 are Tier 3 prospects. All the teams ranked above the O's had more Tier 1 prospects. Tampa Bay has 7 Tier 1 prospects.
  6. Orioles #8 Tampa Bay #1 Up and Coming Pirates #7. My Braves got a "generous" # 11 Nationals were near the bottom, but they've got some good pitchers, the Catcher Ruiz from the Dodgers and Brady House. And they signed the Biggest international bonus the last 2 years. A shortstop in 2021, an outfielder this year.
  7. For everybody that wants to know : the Nationals gave out the largest bonus to a 16 year old Cuban outfielder, 4.9 million. Vasquez the Yankees gave out the 2nd largest bonus to the shortstop Arias. 4.0 million. if you watch the top 30-40 prospect lists over the years the Dodgers and Yankees had the strongest international presence.
  8. Players want to go to Big Market teams. 2019 the Yankees signed the #1 player. 2022 they sign the #2 player. Yankees never rebuild, they are consistent winners and contenders. Dodgers do very well everywhere, especially Mexico. Players have been known to turn down more money to sign with the Dodgers. (the catcher Galiz) The ultimate Big Money/Warm Weather team.
  9. The Players Union wants the players to have freedom of choice. So the Big Markets and Warm Weather Markets still have an advantage. But it sounds like the players cannot reach an agreement before age 15. Good idea that should protect the player and the MLB team. Personally, I like this. But the winners are the Yankees and Dodgers, and the players.
  10. Personally, I like it. Balanced class with outfielders, infielders, catchers and pitchers. And additional countries like Panama and Cuba.
  11. Looking at Baseball America's "signing preview". You have to read between the lines. Their coverage was next to worthless this year, It appears this was the order of the bonuses: 1. Tavera 2. Arias 3. Prieto 4. Amparo No one else was mentioned, Just the biggest bonuses for all 30 teams. They didn't even mention the dollar amounts. Maybe Steve Melewski will fill in the details.
  12. And they're quick to trade those Internationals for Major League Talent. They've given about $4 million to their top signee Roderick Arias, the shortstop. Leaves them $1.2 to fill out their class.
  13. Both shortstop look very similar. About 6', 150 lbs. At least. Both switch hitters. Amparo especially had a good looking easily repeatable swing. I'm going to guess $500,000 + for both. Higher ceilings than Prieto ?
  14. They don't say one player is better than another. They simply say we ranked these players based on their expected bonus signing. That sounds respectful of the kid's feelings to me. I don't see why you can't see that Frobby. Bad day in court ? I went through that in earlier life too.
  15. Starting at #50 I backtracked looking for bonus figures. Finally at #36, Rojas a Dominican shortstop, is expected to sign for at least $1 million. Historically, after the top 30 the bonuses go down to 6 figures. MLB.com tried to rank their top 50 on ability. Baseball America uses their bonus size (market value) to rank their top 50. I think that is more respectful to the young men.
  16. Orioles to sign 1. A centerfielder. Based on the size of his bonus they rank him # 18 overall. Disappointing given they have the biggest bonus pool, $6.2 million.
  17. Orioles have no excuse to do poorly. 7 of the "smaller" teams can spend $6.2 million, including Baltimore. The other 7 "smaller" teams can spend $5.8 million or so. Everybody else starts out at $5.2 million. But everybody can lose bonus money from signing free agents. Unless the kids accept less money to go to a Big Market team or a warmer weather team. I remember last year a catcher in Venezuela rejected the Yankees and signed for way less with the Dodgers.
  18. Nobody even attempts to rank international signee classes. Baseball America provides a very accurate analysis for all 30 organizations after the first wave is signed. I thought they were very complementary last year. They even gave a separate write-up on all 4 catchers, even if it was just to say defense-first or bat-first. Basallo got remarks for power arm and power bat.
  19. Here's what I remember, for what it's worth. Their top signee is expected to be a centerfielder for about $ 2 million. He is 6'2" and about 175 lbs. People who try to rank these things think he is one of the top 20. The other is a shortstop, about 6' 1". He is ranked among the top 45. Kids outside the top 30 usually sign for less than $1 million Baseball America ranked their top 30. I think it was MLB.com that ranked a top 50.
  20. If the owners don't cancel it, crying poverty. Also , this might be the last Singing Period that isn't subject to an International Draft. Personally, I hate the idea of a draft. If the kids want to sign with a BIG MARKET team or a warm weather team , let them. You see how putting Puerto Rico in the draft ruined what used to be a baseball hotbed.
  21. I think the "real" Santander plays like 2020. If he can stay healthy.
  22. I guess he thinks they won't spend until after 2023 and they won't spend ALL the money they will have saved since 2018. He actually thought they could afford to go to $250 million, with all those savings. Private MLB Trade Rumors chat, subscribers only.
  23. This may be idiotic, but I thought they were better in Cole Field House too.
