  1. Highly unlikley? We've got Diaz and Krjestad for RF and plenty of questionable gloves they can stick at first.
  2. Crazy would be bringing Ponson back as a pitching coach.
  3. I'd rather look at some other options before I put him at first. I'd much rather keep players at the more valuable defensive position if possible.
  4. They would have to be extremely high on his bat to rate him that high as a right handed 1B/DH.
  5. Wow that is bullish on Lord Mountcastle. They must think he can stick in Left.
  6. I'd rather not give a 31 year old middle infielder with a career OPS+ of 91 a three year deal. It says a lot to me that the Angels would let him walk and trade for Iglesias.
  7. Yep. If our GM decides to hamstring the team's competitiveness in 2022 the team will be less competitive in 2022. I'll agree with you on that one. I won't agree that trading one or both makes being less competitive inevitable.
  8. Nope, because Elias has shown a strong tendency toward slow rolling promotions and prioritizing gaming service time. Would you agree that if a bat first college player is selected high in the first round he should not need much time in the minors?
  9. Leaving him down wouldn't even be about service time, you would be better off from a roster flexibility standpoint.
  10. Why probably not? The only reason I can come up with for why he wouldn't be ready is that Elias is still playing service time games. You pick a bat first college player high in the first round he should be ready quickly. If he isn't you don' messed up A-Aron.
  11. I was talking about when you said " they want to win starting later this year ". We have been flat out told that isn't a priority for 2021.
  12. They've already told us that they don't care about winning this year.
  13. Yea, I think this is mostly nonsense. These guys know what the score is. I think you are selling them short.
  14. I don't think it is the pandemic. I think Elias just doesn't care about making a show for the fans. He certainly doesn't appear to be under any pressure from ownership.
  15. I think they care, to some degree, about service time being manipulated and free agency delayed. Not as if holding a player back a few weeks for an extra year of team control provides a job for a ML vet.
  16. Demoralizing? The team has played .328 ball over the past three seasons. They traded Iglesias, they non-tendered Alberto. You think trading Santander will be the straw the breaks the camel's back? Please, can we just shut up about Yaz already? NO ONE saw it coming, not even the Giants. It was a freak thing. For fans of one team it sucks, for the fans of another team it's great and for the fans of the other 28 it's a good story. Do you think that if the 2021 O's field a team with Yaz, Bundy and Santander they would be contenders? If not what difference does it make how they are playing for other teams?
  17. Well, if nine draftees made it than I have to admit 62 doesn't seem out of line, particularly since in reality the gap between 62 and 86 isn't significant. I didn't expect that many draftees to make the list.
  18. I expect the top guys in a draft class to make the following top 100 list. But top 70 seems high for someone who was projected a few months ago as being the ninth selection in his draft class. I expect the top other top picks at least engaged in baseball activities.
  19. You'll get Eshelman and you'll like it.
  20. You never know when the Jays will just stop spending. Remember when they had a team in contention and their corporate ownership just flatly refused to add any payroll for the stretch run?
  21. I don't think that is going to happen. At least not successfully. However I do expect changes in the players' favor in the next CBA.
  22. I don't think Elias is planning on making the playoffs in 2022.
  23. Folks love comping guys to Zach Davies. I think the odds of Baumann running up 10 rWAR is less than 10%, even if it is better than Well's chances.
  24. At some point don't you have to make an educated guess as to if he will have value in the back end of his control? How many players even have six to seven year careers? If he's out of baseball by 2025 what good does that extra year of control do you?
