  1. Grich is at 71.1 rWAR and has never been close to getting in.
  2. Both Wilkerson and Mullins have to get to that ball as well. I'm not at all sure that either of them can make the complete play.
  3. I liked how easily he gunned down Vlad at second. He had time to blow a bubble, or pound his chest, before he threw.
  4. I'm sure voter fatigue sets in when you have one catch in the top spot for an extended period of time.
  5. Santanders' OPS+ is down to 101 for the season (505 OPS in Sept). I'm sure part of that is due to a big hit in his BABIP but still worth noting.
  6. Have you looked at his minor league stats? Have you read the scouting reports? Also, having a Jones type career is nothing to be disappointed about.
  7. They gave Karns 800K. (I didn't pull that number out of thin air).
  8. I think they'd pony up 800K for him.
  9. Still might be 100+ losses next season. I wonder if the attendance is higher when Means pitches. I'm guessing there is no bump.
  10. Yea, Means is sure selling a lot of tickets. Also Mountcastle is going to be RoY.
  11. Maybe those Adam Jones comps were not that far off?
  12. I think it is safe to assume he's not going to give Gold Glove defense and a 991 OPS next season.
  13. That was also a singular event. With the O's you have a pattern of players, many of which cost a draft pick, signing (or not signing) with the O's late in the process. When it happens a half dozen times over the span of a few years it indicates to me that the players only signed with the O's when they were sure other teams wouldn't make a comparable offer. Yes I understand that at some level that is how all these deals work out. Do you think any of those pitchers signs with the O's if another team (pick one) makes the same offer? I will accept that Cruz preferred Baltimore to Seattle.
  14. I think the team was still viewed as a "winning team", as opposed to pre-andy or the current situation. I think that signing late with a team because they are the only team that made an acceptable offer is pretty much proof that the team is considered an undesirable landing spot.
  15. I think they were even when the team was winning. Exhibits A-F: Cruz, Jiménez, Fowler, Gallardo, Cashner and Cobb.
  16. I suppose it is possible. I just don't see the "right" free agent wanting to play in Baltimore in 2020. Going to be twenty or so better options out there.
  17. I don't think either are legit to be honest. MLB has a nice video of all three of Hays' defensive gems and hits from last night. https://www.mlb.com/gameday/orioles-vs-blue-jays/2019/09/23/566939#game_state=final,lock_state=final,game_tab=videos,game=566939
  18. Of course not, it is more of a mindset issue. What is more important, player development or awards and prospect rankings? Heck maybe Hays' strong September is enough to let him sneak back in the top 100 prospects lists, wouldn't that make the farm look better?
  19. I'd rather he be more concerned about developing the player than the chance of an award or his organization's placement in the prospect rankings.
  20. I'm interested to see if Elias shuts him down before he reaches the cutoff. I would hope something like that wouldn't be a concern.
  21. There is cheap and what the Orioles will be willing to pay. I don't see them going for more than a million or so for anyone based on this year.
