OK then replace 8 figure with multi-year MLB and the point still stands. If he hadn't hit a hot stretch at the end of 2012 he would have been looking at minor league deals last year.

He is a guy that went from essentially out of baseball to an 8 figure contract on the back of four good months. I don't feel sorry for him.

To be fair, the medical staff did OK a one year deal with an option, so if his arm blows out next year they are still covered.

Yea, even I wanted some degree of value back after the 2012 season.

He did have fantastic results in 2012 but anyone looking past the the first level of information could see that it was unsustainable.
