  1. And he can finish second in RoY voting like Adley.
  2. Might doubt his ability to consistently barrel ML pitching.
  3. I don't think they want to add him to the 40.
  4. He's not, pretty close tho. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/split.fcgi?id=burneco01&year=Career&t=p
  5. I was talking about 2015, 2016 was a separate one year deal. He played 75 games in 2015, catching in 55. I would have rather had a first round pick. Just saying even with the top overall prospect, you don't know.
  6. Bah, someone deleted a comment before I could reply. Hate when that happens.
  7. Neither. Depends on factors I can't know. How did getting that extra year of Wieters work out? I'd have rather had a pick.
  8. I don't think it's evil. I think it's unethical. The difference is the player has the choice. If you choose to sign a below market deal that's on you. Ohtani left a ton of money on the table when he went to Angels when he did.
  9. Hold up! Longoria signed Longoria in 2008 You said he was kicking himself 5-6 years later. Guess what? He signed an extension with the Rays in 2012. Now I don't know for sure, but I think if a guy is really upset that he didn't get a good deal that guy is probably not going to sign another deal.
  10. The same Evan Longoria with 143M in career earnings? Yea, he's probably PISSED.
  11. I bet the O's wish they had the money they gave Givens last season for other things.
  12. I know a guy is a figure of speech. I was riffing off the expression. Sorry it didn't work for you. Since you are still confused.... Wow, I'm not enjoying that at all.
  13. Have we heard anything about either of them being unhappy with the deal? They both had representation. Not everyone is about making as much as they can. They got security. Not sure what your parameters are for working out for both sides.
  14. Didn't Bloomberg report about it in December? So yea, Elias knew it was a possibility.
  15. I know a guy, well a woman actually. She works for the Rays and used to work for the Blue Jays. (not at a particularly high level) According to her the Jays would run a background check on her every year. She says the Rays are a lot more lax about that sort of thing.
  16. Well, SG has said ad nauseam that the Davis deal didn't hurt the O's.... Twenty five million over five plus years isn't stopping a team from making other deals, neither is fifty spread out over an extended period of time. So much money in the game right now. If the Rays end up having to pay Franco and he never plays again, that's actual harm.
  17. Or maybe this was the plan the whole time?
  18. Huge risk of blowing up in your face? Can you give me one example in which one of these deals did actual harm to the team? Maybe the Franco deal might count if for some reason they had to pay him. No one says the Yusniel Diaz signing "blew up in the Dodger's face".
  19. Not really. Just look at the teams that are extending young players instead of gaming service time. The industry has spoken. Or is everyone else stupid?
