  1. What are you talking about? I think everyone on here is open to the possibility that Sig had no interest in the job. This is also a thread that has reached..let me check..all of three pages in the last day.
  2. If Sig wanted to interview and they didn't allow it, I think it's a loss for the team. If you are looking for a job and have options why would you pick Baltimore if you know they won't let you advance?
  3. They have the right. The O's absolutely had the right to hold Dan to his contract. The general understanding in the industry is you let your people interview for promotions. My guess is the whole system works a lot more smoothly this way. If you don't allow your folks to do it, and other teams do, you are going to be at a hiring disadvantage. As an owner you should understand that at some point you are going to be the one trying to hire someone away.
  4. If they slow-rolled approval it is absolutely a bad look, I'd say a worse look than outright denying permission. The industry norm is to allow folks to interview for promotions. Would you have felt that way if Elias had been denied the chance to interview with the O's? If the O's are not doing that and not even being upfront about it, yea it could impact the caliber of applicant they get in the future. Frankly it sound like how Peter did things.
  5. Why have a Black Sox or a steroids when you can have a Spidertack?
  6. If the Astros had been hit hard I imagine they would have spilled a lot of dirt about what everyone else had been doing.
  7. Requiring receipts sure. I am talking about an actual qualified person auditing the team.
  8. The team will be responsible for maintenance and will be receiving a stipend to pay for them. Any oversight on if repairs are being made and how the money is being spent?
  9. When the two sides aren't really in opposition you don't need much leverage. People are a lot freer spending money that isn't theirs.
  10. I'm hoping for two things. They make the playoffs. They win the last game they play.
  11. I guess there is no chance he tops that time in NY. Best first pitch ever?
  12. I think it means he's salty about his choice of degree.
  13. I'm in camp: Get a player (s) Open up a roster spot Free up payroll for other needs
  14. And he walks and the team gets nothing. So there is still some degree of risk.
  15. I'd much rather add to the team during the off-season and not the deadline.
  16. It doesn't really change anything. You can make up a title to make something a "promotion". Just keep him happy.
  17. My guess is they are getting feedback that folks enjoy getting low scores and you can get obscure with a bar like 10 wins. I randomly chose the 1989 Expos, Bryn Smith had 10 wins, .6%. A little more playing around on Baseball reference and I snagged a pair of .04% picks for the other two 10 win blocks.
  18. Funny how you say no one in the media knows who Elias will target while claiming with evident confidence that Flaherty was at best plan C. We don't know either, he might have been option one.
