I don't think you can make that case. Didn't you yourself say the Davis contract didn't stop the Orioles from making moves? How much help would getting rid of it be? The team could release the player in question. All this would do is save the owners money.

Frazier is slower, has less power and is worse at the defensive positions that he plays.

The Orioles have literally traded draft picks for salary relief under the current system on more than one occasion.

No. The draft pick would have included the associated pool money. The pick was worth more than Adley was after he was drafted. MLB shouldn't be making it easier for owners to choose profitability over competitiveness.
