  1. Not relative to first basemen they don't.
  2. Can't find the Hangout thread for some reason. Here is an ELI5 definition. https://www.mlb.com/glossary/advanced-stats/wins-above-replacement
  3. I think we have a sticky for the stat clueless. Give me a minute, it's been a while since someone tried to engage from a position of near total ignorance.
  4. He got his shot and couldn't cut it. Next man up.
  5. CBS had the O's take Johnson. https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/2022-mlb-mock-draft-orioles-take-termarr-johnson-with-no-1-pick-kumar-rocker-to-padres/ That count? So did prospectslive. https://www.prospectslive.com/prospects-live/2022-mlb-mock-draft-n78w7-st9r4-wa35p-2n5ls Somebody named AS had Berry but I have NO IDEA who they are. https://en.as.com/mlb/2022-mlb-mock-draft-first-round-predictions-and-pick-projections-n/
  6. Infield defense was more important when he played since so many more balls were put into play and of that number a greater percentage were ground balls and line drives. What's the average K rate during the years he played?
  7. Can you read? The part where you said "Mateo is better" was trolling. I completely and totally believe you when you say you don't understand WAR. BTW 41 WAR over 18 seasons is barely above league average performance, so he needed to be one of the all time greats on defense to be a slightly above average player.
  8. I agree. You lied. You are clearly trolling with that post.
  9. I'm reasonably sure that if the Angelos family had a sizeable asset on hand it would get mentioned when organizations describe their finical state. Sports team owners are often profiled. The law firm isn't doing near as well as in it's prime. MASN isn't bringing in the money it used to. That leaves the team.
  10. Which the contracts? The law firm? The music? The contracts are public knowledge. The law firm has been downsizing since 2014. I think Frobby has even commented in passing on it. We know they don't have any big wins recently since it would be you know, news if they had. In fact they had a set back no long ago in regards to I think it was the Asbestos cases. They were even sued for legal malpractice in 2021. It's also pretty obvious that the music career isn't taking off. Record sales, streaming numbers, songwriting and production credits are all right out there. The missus doesn't seem to be making any inroads.
  11. I think the "Astro" model is to tank super hard for draft capital and to slash payroll. It's no longer a functional model.
  12. No contracts over two years and very few of those. As for their financial position, enough of the is out there. The law firm has been shrinking and haven't had a big win in forever. They certainly aren't making money in music.
  13. Just keep in mind the O's are looking up at Tampa when it comes to payroll.
  14. Do you think Delmon Young and KRod hurt the chemistry of the Oriole teams they were on? Hader's comments pale in comparison to their actual actions.
  15. I'm glad there isn't a permanent record of what I said when I was 17 and 18.
  16. I agree with most. I have an issue with 95% plus. I'll also say that if you can talk yourself into four or five guys than the "consensus" #1 guy isn't really a consensus guy in the way that an Adley or Harper was.
  17. While I 100% agree that Holliday was not a slam dunk for 1-1 I think saying that Jones was the clear consensus is also overstating things a bit. I saw a number of names at the top of the draft board. No doubt that it looks like Elias made the correct pick. What's the writeup on Johnson look like? A quick peek at his stats (19 in A ball, 800 OPS mostly at 2B) don't look that bad. The K's are alarming but with the walks it looks like he's been passive which is pretty fixable.
  18. I saw where Buster said that. Could be. As I said I don't think it is likely. But it is at least conceivable that a large but short term move is made this season. The window is open and they have the pieces to get a deal done.
  19. I think there is a very small chance the O's pick Ohtani up for the playoff push this year. I think there is no chance they are in the running to sign him to a contract beyond this season.
  20. I'm including 2018 in the 100 loss seasons. So 2018-2021 would be four years. I've already stated that I think 2022 was supposed to be a 90 loss or so season, some forward progression but still getting a relativity high pick.
  21. Their owner. The fact that they knowingly hired someone with multiple drunk driving offenses.
  22. I don't think Eddie was all that likeable at a National level. The O's were also dead in the heart of the PED scandal. They just managed to lose despite juicing. Remember Grimsley? The Congressional finger wag? Gibbons and Roberts?
