  1. Are you locked in at these win total numbers? Or do they change throughout the offseason?
  2. Taking into account their relative health and track record, do you present this contract to Giolito as opposed to giving the Qualifying offer to Gibson?
  3. Great. Thanks for the info. Get the lease done. If something else happens separately, great, or good, or meh. I don't care.
  4. Definitely yes. After Jones and Markakis, he probably is the next best retired. Maybe have a poll to guess the years. Should we stretch out the players because it gets thin after them until Machado retires (and that can be a long time).
  5. FWIW, Burnes to Orioles came up in the MLBTR chat. Ortiz alone got a response that Steve Adams didn't think so, but Matt Arnold may feel differently. The package proposed from Jim Bowden is way too high IMHO. https://live.jotcast.com/chat/chat-with-mlbtrs-steve-adams-11-15-23-16995.html Orioles 1:11 Is Joey ortiz enough for Corbin burnes? Steve Adams 1:12 I don't think so, but maybe Matt Arnold feels differently. In general though, if the offer you're constructing for a top-tier trade target like Burnes consists of someone (or someoneS) who feel largely superfluous to the current big league product, it's probably light. That's not a knock on Ortiz -- more so just a comment on the depth the O's generally have in the infield.
  6. I should have said would instead of could
  7. Correct. But this could be part of the negotiations. MLB would love to have an owner's group that could dissolve the MASN agreement.
  8. It's not the rumor as cited above. But maybe Rubenstein (as an individual) would be majority owner and Carlyle Group owns a minority share along with the current minority owners.
  9. Good thing we left McKenna on the 40-man roster to take one of the super-two slots.
  10. If it is another one-year deal at $10M (or a little more), I'd do it. I think we'll be risk averse as to long-term deals, especially for pitchers.
  11. Obviously not in the big-name, multi-year realm, but how about Jose Quintana as a one-year deal trade option? The Mets are not going to compete in 2024 and this is his last year at one year, $13M. He seemed to be healthy upon his return. If we're going for an injury risk-type (like Maeda) one year deal, Quintana is a lefty starter. This may be reasonable. Would a nominal trade of Tate for Quintana make sense? https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/q/quintjo01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&utm_source=www.mlbtraderumors.com&utm_campaign=2023-10-11_br
  12. I still have my Jim Palmer signature on the seat cushion give away from seat cushion day. No one has ever sat on it. I also have Brooks' signature on "Third Base is my Home" from one of his book signings. Let's watch the game and root for them for the rest of the series.
  13. BTW, I still have my Millennium Falcon (not your Dukes of Hazard version, but the original, unaltered one) and the box. But the box is little beat up from numerous moves. We're all rooting for the O's to win the next few hours, days, and weeks. Take care. On the off chance, we don't win and you sell, I'm interested.
  14. https://www.mlb.com/orioles/roster/transactions This was what I meant by the 5 recalls in one day. Take care. Let's go, O's.
  15. The five in one day reminds me of the limit of passing players through waivers a few years ago. If this is a limit, I don't know why another 5 weren't processed the next day. The Zimmermann and McKenna issues are probably due to the 10-day rule unless someone else goes on the IL. More importantly, we'll be down to a 26 roster for the next series. Let's go O's.
