  1. https://metsrefugees.com/forum/index.php?threads/orioles-sold.152059/
  2. The idea that it's a investment group is scary from a fan perspective, but when you're coming off Angelos just about anything is an improvement.
  3. It's not on twitter, it's an insider over on Mets Refugees who has been posting inside info for a few years now. If it was on Twitter I would have given you a link.
  4. So take it with a grain of salt, but a guy who has repeatedly proven to be accurate with his insider information regarding the Mets is apparently claiming that a deal has been made but wont be announced for a while where the Orioles have been sold to the Carlyle Group for 1.4B. Why he would have this particularly info as a Met fan(though he is from Balitmore), I do not know, but he's been tremendously accurate with this stuff in the past so I'm just throwing it out there.
  5. He would take an absolute haul to land, like something that no one on this board would be at all comfortable with.
  6. Morel is being dangled as trade bait. As of right now, the opening day OF is Seiya/Happ/PCA. As far as pitching goes, they're supposedly very much in on Yamamoto/Imanaga, but there has been no mention of them being in on any of the Montgomery, Snell, Nola, Erod, etc. Regarding 1B, Hoyer is apparently rather infatuated with Pete Alonso and the Mets have been rumored to be making him available.
  7. He's going to get 180-200M, I'd be shocked if the Orioles were in on that.
  8. Depending on DL Hall to be healthy is questionable, but even if he is healthy, he has never thrown 100 innings in a year. You can't expect him to go out and throw a full season.
  9. I'll probably get flamed, but as an outsider, it absolutely drives me crazy how little the Baltimore FO/Ownership did to help this team. They put together a historically good farm with several prospects becoming contributors immediately, but that's all they did. They didn't add to the talent in FA; they didn't acquire the talent at the deadline. They just sat on their hands and hoped the farm would carry them. That absolutely drives me nuts. This is not a franchise that can afford to waste the cheap years of control for guys like Henderson, Rutschman, etc. I'm not saying they need to go into 2024 with a 200M payroll, but my god, stop dumpster diving when you're a World Series contender.
  10. You're a world series contender, this is not time to buy a guy in hopes that you can fix him and make him useful in the playoffs.
  11. Ignore that. The fans have pretty openly hated him since he was in support of BLM.
  12. People don't like it because you aren't guaranteed anything from year to year. Sure the Orioles have the 2nd best record in baseball right now, They're also doing it on a run differential lower than the Cubs and Padres, so it's unlikely it would be repeatable given the same circumstances next year. Who knows what happens next year. Maybe the prospects take a step forward, maybe Adley blows out an ACL, you don't know and that's why you have to value the current season. No one is saying sacrifice the future and go all in on one year, but I refuse to believe they couldn't realistically get anyone more than Jack Flaherty nor do I believe all the other GMs were standing firm on give us Holliday or nothing. They are a good team and I think it's doing them a disservice not to go out and boost their chances.
  13. Well, if we're basing it off a player who is somewhat similar, but a bit higher up the value scale, you can look at Ian Happ's contract. He signed a 3 year extension with the Cubs right at the beginning of his last year under team control and the extension was 3/61. They have similar offensive stats over the last two years, but Happ is pretty solid defensively while fangraphs has Santander as pretty bad. So maybe Santander, if he gets to FA, gets like 4/65 or 4/70.
  14. They can't even give him a qualifying offer so they lose him for absolutely nothing now. That's unimaginably terrible by their front office.
  15. This kind of feels like ERod is being gifted to Baltimore if they offer anything reasonable
  16. Nice guy, but dear god was he awful and David Ross just kept putting him in the line up despite that.
  17. 3 division leaders haven't made any moderate to significant moves by my count. The Reds, Twins and Orioles. I can't imagine that happens a lot.
  18. The White Sox are rebuilding, why do they want two guys whose clocks have already started?
  19. Now this is some extreme hyperbole. He's not the dominant top 3 pitcher in baseball guy anymore, but he's still sporting a 3.12 ERA and 3.29 xERA
  20. You can't let 4 competitors for the AL Crown get better(Toronto, Houston, Tampa, Texas) and just sit on your hands.
  21. 2:15 to go, deals should start rolling in in the next 45 minute or so
  22. Take it with a grain of salt, but local Chicago sport guy sure seems to think that Raley is off the market to the Cubs.
