I think that they should definitely move Mancini and a BP arm or two. I think you move Santander if the price is right. I’d like to see McKenna get more of a chance to play.
We need to do something about Odor, Nevin, and Chirinos. We have too many guys hitting under .210.
Honestly, I’d trade for a backup catcher that can hit or bring up Nottingham who has a .761 OPS despite hitting .223. Or Cumberland .739. They can’t be any worse.
Odor is a rah rah guy but his bat is done. And Nevin can be sent back down. Honestly, he really hasn’t gotten a chance to play everyday.
Chirinos is soooo frustrating. What in the world happened to him? I thought he'd be a solid defender and post an OPS in the .700s, as he had done for most of his career (save 2020 and his first season or two). He is an automatic out now.

Man Santander is the ONLY one besides Adley that's hitting right now. Would be hard to let him go. I still don't want Mancini traded either. Lopez to me is the only one they should part with right now.
Santander has been fun to watch lately and I have always liked him, even back in 2017-18. But the Orioles have outfield depth, not starting pitching depth, in the minors. And Lopez is under control for two more years after this and has pitched well for nearly two years straight. Santander has a history of injury problems and problems with consistency. If you can trade Santander for Lopez, you do it.
-
With Santander's hot bat, you would think he'd have a lot of value to a playoff contender. Or a non playoff contender, like the Marlins, for Pablo Lopez. Any chance at all that Santander for Lopez would work?

Similar, yes, but not quite only because Gunnar is ridiculous and doesn't really have comps (Jordan Walker?) so he's the best player of the four you mentioned. That said, Marte is a 20 year old, High A SS and is a Top 20 prospect. He was the Mariners' #1 and is now the Reds' #1. He is very special and, being a few months younger than Gunnar, could enter the same stratosphere. Arroyo looks very similar but he's 18 and switch hits. Stoudt is an interesting arm, kind of Baumann-ish.
Ahh, thank you for the analysis.

Awful for Seattle. Sometimes it's the trades you don't make...
Not super familiar with these guys. Are Marte and Arroyo the equivalent of us trading Gunnar and Westburg?

In the marathon Red Sox game from 2012, three specific ones come to mind:
- Chris Davis getting the win
- Adam Jones three run homer in the top of the 17th
- Marlon Byrd being out at the plate and Wieters showing the glove.

The next nine games are very winnable.
3 @ CIN
3 @ TEX
3 vs PIT
Then we get a lot of TOR (15) and BOS (11) over these final 63 games.
Need at least 5-4 though that might be a tad disappointing. I'd be happy with 6-3 or better

Ugh, I still really hope we are sellers not buyers this window...
If we are over .500 the optics are going to be tough for Elias, though. Hopefully he shows his vision and conviction regardless...
We should buy and sell...

The 2012 vibes are real. I've been saying this is the 2012 team redux since April.

I don’t think you can ever presume that, until it happens.
I'm not sure I am presuming as much as projecting/estimating Stowers value based on what I think he is capable of, given his AAA numbers and advanced states. I think he has a lot of value because he is young, controllable, and likely can hold his own in the big leagues.

Seriously? I understand we've got a logjam in the outfield, and I assume that will be resolved by putting some of the extra bodies on the trade block. But would Stowers bring back more than Santander, Mullins, or even Mancini? As for Mayo, I'd rather wait a bit to offer him up unless there's a feeling that he's not likely to be an impact bat, and his current trade value is as high as it ever will be.
Stowers' value is in his controllability. He is cheap and under control for 6 more years, and probably could put up, at least, a .700-.750 OPS in an every day role somewhere.

I'm not really interested in trading 6.00-6.75 years of GrayRod and/or Gunnar (plus multiple other high-ceiling pieces) for an expensive year+ of Shohei or an expensive 2+ years of Soto despite how unbelievably good they are, so put me in the "pass" column.
This is where I'm at.

Good call. They can do that Aaron Judge-Jose Altuve picture thing as teammates.
Haha. Manute Bol and Mugsy Bogues

Seager is the comp I like for this kid.
I'll be doing backflips if we get six years of Seager out of this kid. Good comp indeed.

Good for Pittsburgh and Termarr. He'll probably be a DP partner with Cruz for years.

Can someone who is smarter than me let me know how he compares to Henderson? On the surface they seem like similar players. Left hitting shortstop, high school kid.

Could've been worse. Could've been better. I'll take it.

Don't. Overthink. It. This reminds me of when they were debating whether to take Adley or not.

The cheap angle isn’t accurate unless any of these are true:
1) They refuse to spend the 4.9% allowed over the bonus pool.
2) They refuse to spend a certain amount of money on a HS kid.
If either of them are true, it’s fair to call them cheap.
Bur if neither is true, I think this is more about Elias and Sig’s computer.
Well, I trust Elias and Sig's computer more than the sons pulling the strings due to $$. Still hoping for Jones.

And then you know what happens after that…you still take overslot players, partially because you can and partially because you have the additional 825ishK to spend above the bonus pool.
It’s amazing..you can get the best talent AND get overslots. It’s a miracle!
Right. You take BPA in Jones, and then you can still get overslots - that's why the number one pick gets the most draft money allotted to it. In the back of my mind, I just assume they will mess this up primarily because the Angeloses are cheap and pathetic and Elias's hands are tied.
-
I just wish the Orioles could do the easy thing and take BPA with Jones. They don't need to overthink this...

Hopefully the O's don't underestimate their opponents. The Rays are always going to bring a ball game
Right. And they just swept the Red Sox in a four game series, after the Reds had swept the Rays. Baseball is crazy. If we can go 4-3 against the Rays in the next seven, I will be pleased.
