  1. To me, he comes off as such a Nats homer (Jim Hunter esque), thinks the Nats can do no wrong, and has a lot of cheesy lines (that's a loud sound! when a home run is it). Maybe it's just a personal thing. I don't hate him as a person, I just think he's fun to laugh at.
  2. How long has Garceau been away for? Seems like it's been at least a month. Hope everything is okay with him physically.
  3. I don't think anyone is worse than Bob Carpenter. I watch the Nationals games sometimes just so I can laugh at him and FP.
  4. Best of luck to Chris. We will always have fond memories of him in the years after acquiring him for Koji and before resigning him. One thing that sticks out was that solo homer in 2012 in the second to last game of the season at Tropicana Field to dead center, in a 1-0 win that either clinched the playoffs, or brought us closer to them. Effortless power, good OBP, seemed like a wholesome guy. Still, his was by far the worst contract the Orioles-and perhaps any MLB team-has ever given out. I will do my best to remember the pre-contract years.
  5. https://www.mlb.com/news/guide-to-baseball-s-waiver-trade-system-c140073380 When a player is on waivers, other teams can submit a claim. If more than one team does, those in the same league as that player's team get first priority, starting with the club with the worst record on the day of the claim. Then, the priority moves to the other league, starting with the worst record. For example, if a National League team puts a player on waivers, the NL team with the worst record gets the first shot at him, and the last-place American League club would be right behind the top NL club.
  6. I don't know exactly how the claiming rules work. Are we before AZ because he is in the AL?
  7. 100%. No reason to not have the bullpen be a revolving door until you find people that can get outs.
  8. Just DFA'ed by Oakland today, has been in their system since 2016, usually averages over 1K per inning. Could be a solid bullpen piece, especially considering the struggles we have seen this year form the pen. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/w/wendejb01.shtml
  9. It's a message board.... Posters on here are smart enough to post their thoughts/analytics over simple "Yays!." That's what makes it a good board.
  10. DFAing Franco is a very tempting option.
  11. Interestingly, Mateo was a top 100 prospect for a little while. Seems he was the big piece acquired by Oakland in the Gray trade four years ago. He's 26 now, put up solid numbers in AAA in 2019. Worth a shot, especially over Valaika.
  12. Please please please mean that Jahmai is coming up.
  13. Exactly. Jones should be starting at second base 5-6 times a week for the rest of the season unless he completely and utterly falls off. If he's average/decent at second, great. If not, you know that going into next season.
  14. Man I would have LOVED Madgrigal. I would've given them Scott, Fry, Sulser - really anyone in the pen.
  15. Berrios is the more established pitcher, sure, but he is a FA after next season. Means has three more years of control after this year. It isn't as far apart as you think.
  16. I wonder if the haul the Twins got for Berrios would sway Elias to trade Means for a similar package... SD and even TB could provide that.
  17. I would assume that Elias doesn't like Austin Martin and wouldn't have taken Martin, Woods Richardson for Means. But that is quite the haul. I'd be much more open to trading Means now...
  18. Wow. Twins got Austin Martin plus from Toronto for Berrios.
  19. Not surprisingly, Pat Valaika's spot remains safe and sound. Thank goodness we have his defense at second over Jones, though.
  20. Tanner Scott is one of the last things I am concerned about with the 2021 Orioles.
  21. This is where I'm at. Yes, his defense is bad, but it's not it matters if the Orioles win games or not, so bad defense from him won't be that damaging. May as well get his feet wet, let him face MLB pitching, and let him work with the MLB coaches to improve his defense.
  22. Well yea... the team is horrible.
